Amazing stay overlooking Minori
Would recommend this stay to anyone looking for a quieter place to stay above the hustle and bustle in the seaside town below. Great headstart up the hill to hike to Ravello, and a short walk down to the town for the beach, shops, or restaurants. Lovely breakfasts each morning overlooking the sea and the sunrise. Each room has their own private outdoor space which is perfect for relaxing.
Communication with Fabio during the entire process was seamless. VERY welcoming! Incredible views! Fabio is incredibly kind d and accommodating. My fiance and I specifically chose Minori to relax. 3 days at the beach, perfect weather and away from big hustle and bustle of positano or even amalfi. If your goal is to relax first, party second....Minori. You can always hop the ferry to jam packed beaches of positano and amalfi. Loved our time here! Thank you, Fabio!
We had a wonderful time at Orto Paradiso! The hosts were perfect and very helpful. Be prepared to walk up and down lots of stairs each trip to town, but the views and serenity once you get to the property are worth every step!
Great hosts, great location. Lots of stairs to get there, too firm beds and pillows for my liking.
A piece of paradise
We had a fantastic stay at Orto Paradiso and wish we could have stayed longer. It is a beautiful spot with many special artistic touches created and run by a caring family overlooking charming Minori. We enjoyed sitting. on the many patios talking with other guests and Filippo, the manager and son of the man who built the property 30 years ago, while looking out at the Amalfi coastline and sea beyond. Each morning we sat in the shade of olive trees while eating a delicious breakfast on the dining patio. And at the end of the day, after walking up the long set of stairs we cooled off in the pool and then sat in the evening light watching the sunset and listening to music wafting up from the town below. Yes, if you go to the Amalfi Coast, you will contend with stairs. So you do need to be fit enough to stay here. And, we who are in our 60's did fine taking our time. We also loved being on the local bus that took us from the center of Minori to the piazza below Orto Paradiso. The locals all greeted us and each other warmly as each person joined or left the bus.
Minori was a great place from which to take the water ferry to other Amalfi towns. It is much less crowded than other more popular towns.
We are very thankful for Filippo. He went out of his way to make us comfortable and welcome, even though we arrived late at night due to flight delays. He also helped us deal with some unexpected challenges during our stay and made a big effort to accommodate our needs in the room we stayed in. As environmentalists, we were pleased to learn that Filippo is implementing green measures on the property. They have a solar panel array, compost organic waste, and separate out other waste for recycling.
We highly recommend Orto Paradiso and Minori for those who want to have a great vacation on the Amalfi Coast.
Thank you so much for your review! We read it several times as it is really touching. We are so glad you had such a great stay at Orto Paradiso and at the Amalfi Coast. Hope to see you soon again!
Adorable coastal village:
The friendly coastal village of Minori is located between Amalfi and Maiori. Its name is not derived from its size, but is of ancient origin. At Roman times, Minori was called Reginna Minoris as opposed to the adjacent Reginna Maioris (today’s Maiori) and was named after the river carrying the same name and running through the village.
Basilica S. Trofimena in the village centre is worth a visit; the relics of Saint Trofimena – once the patron saint of the whole Costiera Amalfitana – are kept there.
In 1932, the discovery of a Roman villa marittima dating from the first century AD at Minori bore witness to the fact that „Reginna Minoris“ used to be a popular holiday resort with well-to-do Romans. Today, visitors to this archaeological site will meet with well preserved frescos and floor mosaics.
Former centre of pasta production:
At the times of the maritime republic of Amalfi, one of the most significant shipyards was to be found at Minori. Later on, the coastal village's economy was based mainly on the production of fresh pasta.
In the realm of Naples-Sicily, Minori was one of the centres of pasta production and the numerous mills in town its visible proof. Later, production was transferred inland to Gragnano, which, today, is famous for its pasta all over Italy. Meanwhile, agriculture in Minori is based on the cultivation of citrus fruit – lemon and orange trees frame the coastal village, which is typical for the Amalfi coast.
