The renting of this home was a group effort and made with much excitement and anticipation for the upcoming Auburn/Clemson 2016 football season opener. You can imagine our surprise when we entered the home at the time promised, after a very long drive and 3 tired toddlers, and was greeted by a home in total chaos and filth! This was no "Luxury" rental as advertised! The bedding was ladened with mice excrement -the mouse poop was even on the pillows in two separate bedrooms!!! We also discovered the mice droppings in the kitchen, along the base boards in the bedrooms and on the floor adjacent to the master bedroom tub where we were bathing the three small children. This home is a health hazard and obviously has a mice infestation problem! It's unimaginable that a home that looks as if so much money was invested to build on a prime piece of property on Lake Martin was left to deteriorate due to neglect.
I must say that this was quite an enjoyable experience! The house includes five bedrooms, a deck, and a beautiful view of the lake. I wanted a nice place to stay with a group of friends and this place was ideal. I would recommend this place hands down!
We don't have enough room to write everything we found wrong with this house! So we will highlight the worst. First the pictures you see online do not show the filth of the flooring, the old nasty beds, horrible dish ware, and lack of cleanliness of the entire house. If you are considering this house to rent, consider this... Mice droppings on bedding, behind beds, closets, in cupboards (Kitchen and bathroom). We stripped the beds and sprayed Lysol (we went to store to purchase along with Clorox, gloves, mice traps, etc.) on beds, used our own sheets and bedding after finding mice droppings on pillows and top of beds. Do not run the washing machine and take a shower at the same time. If you do, expect the downstairs toilet to bubble, clogg, and the downstairs shower to fill the tub with nasty dirty water. All of these were noted with pictures and reported immediately to the property manager/owner and all were excused as either not a problem or we were running to many things at one time. The worst for us, 8 out of 10 came down with extreme sickness. You have to wonder, was it a health issue? Consider, would you want to spend a weekend after hearing these issues and have your children or grandchildren in such a compromised situation? We travel for a job, and stay in many hotels, we can honesty say this was one of the worst places we stayed in. You may ask why did you stay? We had no choice of changing places and we also had faith that the owners would make it right. That didn't happen. The Property manager/Owners should be ashamed of renting this house.
When booking this house, we thought this would be the perfect stay for 4 families with kids for our Auburn vs Clemson tailgating and labor day weekend. We paid a little more for the place but knew there wasn’t much option being a labor day holiday and 1st football game of the year. We saw this place was on the lake so we could rent a boat and dock right at the house- that was about the only good thing about the house. We were given approval to come into the house at 2pm and not the usual 4pm. Upon arrival there one of the families walked in to the house not being cleaned. When I say it wasn’t clean- there were rotten towels and soiled sheets laying on the floor, moldy dirty dishes on the counter and sink, toothpaste all over the bathrooms. The more we looked around the more we noticed the amount of dirt and cob webs EVERWHERE were remarkable. We immediately called the management company and had the cleaning crews (plural – it was a big job) called in. We packed up 10 travel weary people (3 of which were kids under age 5) and headed into Auburn so they could clean.
Upon our second arrival (around the kid’s bedtime) we were still greeted with Mouse feces everywhere!!! In the “Clean” sheets & comforters, bathrooms, the wood floors, all in the carpet, kitchen (including in the pots and pans, under the sink) it was everywhere & so disgusting. My family immediately turned back around, headed to Walmart, and purchased new sheets for every bed. Being the ones that rented out this house we were so embarrassed and mortified that we rented such a gross place and the fact that we had to stay there for 3 days was daunting. It’s not like we could pack up and go to a hotel- we were in the middle of nowhere and anything near campus had been booked for years. So we were trapped, driving 6 hours’ home was not an option. We called the manager who rented us the house and they were not sorry one bit, they blamed it on us for requesting early entrance (which they approved), and the owners not telling the cleaning company to clean it after they left. This house had not been cleaned in months. That much mold doesn’t grow overnight. Luckily, we had many coolers to keep all of our food from spoiling since we didn’t want to leave it in the dirty fridge. We also ended up buying bleach, gloves, bug spray and several mouse traps (a few were successful) because we felt so uncomfortable with state of the house and knowing we had to go to sleep with mice/rats/rodents.
This place is awesome nice swimming area close to all amenities. Loved tv in master. The master balcony great place for coffe or glass of wine your choice. Had everything we needed
We stayed at the Treehouse with our whole family and we're looking forward to a great summer vacation. Expecting it to be perfect since it looked newer, advertised as luxury and modern from photos. Even though price was high(could have went to beach for same or less) we went ahead and booked. Upon arrival, we noticed several things right away that were very worn, not clean, etc. and contacted the owner. To conclude - for the $$ - not worth it. The treehouse is overpriced and needs a few updates as to several amenities are worn out or just cheaply made- grill, tv's- only 1 with cable - other's have DVD players - can you find those anymore???? Beds are very, very FIRM (cheap). Overall, we left early and do not recommend.
