You will feel like at home during your stay at 'Casa Bricola' and you will enjoy The 'Serenissima' like a Venetian. The apartment is located in a no-tourist side of Venice and has a beautiful view over a garden, exactly in Calle del Fumo, only 100 m from the 'Fondamenta Nuove' where it's possible to get a public boat to join every area of Venice, the Lido beach and the Venitian islands: Murano, Burano and Torcello.
The apartment is on the first floor and is on two floors: on the first floor there are the living-room, the kitchen, one twins bedroom and one bathroom. On the second floor there are one double bedroom and one bathroom with shower. The air conditioning is only in the living-room.
Both Saint Mark's Square and Rialto bridge are reachable in less than 10 minutes on foot.
We stayed here for almost a week in October. This is a great apartment in a great location. The photos are accurate. It's very comfortable and spacious. And if you're lucky when you arrive, you will get to pick up the key from Sra. Rosa -- a diamond of Venice. Venice is just a great city. I offer one piece of advice. It's a difficult city in which to keep your orientation. You will think they move the streets around. Before you leave, consult google for best walking route from various points. It works. Then print out a map and highlight the routes. Sometimes when it's late, you just want to get home rather than a random walk around an absolutely beautiful city.
This was a great 2 bedroom, 2 full bathroom apartment. I was perfect as we were two couples. The location was perfect and the apartment was clean and comfortable. I would recommend it and I would definitely stay there again. There is one flight of stairs to go up. Remember that when the add for any apartment in almost all European countries says first floor or main floor it is one flight up. My only recommendation is to make sure you get Mrs. Rosa's grandsons cell number as she speaks no english and if you have an issue she can not help. We couldn't get the wi/fi to work but no big deal.
Enjoy you vacation, Venice is a fabulous city.
It was a very nice apartment, clean and in a quiet part of Venice. Everything was in the apartment, the kitchen was nice and all the important things were there. The beds were perfect and it was very good to have two bathrooms. The boat stop wasn't far away. and madam Rosa was really kind and helpfull.
Contact with the owner was easy, fast, very kind and with clear explanations about how to get to the location and how to retrieve the keys. Every adminstrative aspect was handled fast, smooth and easily. If you want to be near all major tourist attractions, near a central and important boat stop and are looking at the same time to be in a quiet, non touristic neighbourhood, then you should definitley stay in "Casa Olivia".
Everything went smooth and easily, the neighbours were also very kind and helpful.
The appartment itself suits perfectly a 4 person family with its two bedrooms and two bathrooms. We had most of our meals at the appartment, because it was always easy to get there end its living room gave us the possibility of having our meals together or just relaxing in this quiet neighbourhood.
The beds were comfortable and the only item we were missing is a micro wave oven which would have simplified heating beverages and left overs but I am pretty sure one will be added.
Conclusion : We spent great holidays and as I am sure we will return to Venice, I hope that by the time "Casa Olivia" will be still available! Thank you very much!
The appartment was what was described. It was well maintained. Very close to Vaparetto stop, grocery store and local restaruants. Off the beaten path but within walking distance of everything. Very happy with the appartment.
We are a couple in our late sixties and found Casa Olivia a very pleasant location for our two week stay in Venice. Well away from the hustle and bustle of the more touristy areas it was a short walk to the Rialto Bridge.
The apartment was well equipped, clean and spacious. It is on the first floor of the building with 22 steps to the door but anyone visiting Venice would need to be prepared to negotiate the steps on the many bridges. We found that it was worthwhile to buy a seven day ticket for the ACTV vaparetto water bus service as the stop at Fondamente Nova was very near the apartment and at the end of a day exploring Venice it was a relief to board a vaparetto back to base.
The caretaker Signora Rosa was very helpful and when necessary, brought her granddaughter to help with Italian to English translation. Any problems were quickly resolved. The owner Signor Rodolfo provided a clear friendly and efficient booking service and the booking was confirmed by means of a short term rental contract sbject to Venetian jurisdiction.
In short we would recommend Casa Olivia to either the fist time visitor or to those who have been in Venice previously.
'Without streets and vehicles, the uproar of wheels, the brutality of horses, and with its little winding ways where people crowd together, where voices sound as in the corridors of a house where the human step circulates as if it skirted the angles of furniture and shoes never wear out, the place has the character of an immense collective apartment, in which Piazza San Marco is the most adorned corner'. Henry James, The Aspern Papers.
