This is a particularly spacious property and the overall impression is similar to that of hiring your own private hotel. In total there are five bedrooms and five bathrooms, four bedrooms benefit from air-conditioning and en suite facilities. There are numerous terraces and patios that are well equipped (with plentiful tables and chairs) and allow large groups to enjoy lunchtime bbq's or evening meals together. The property is located in a peaceful countryside setting and located just over two kilometers from the traditional Spanish village of Bedar. The property is decorated in an appealingly traditional manner with simple white walls, terracotta flooring and traditonal tiling throughout. There are numerous patios and terraces from which to enjoy views of the sea, the mountains and the surrounding countryside. Access has been recently improved with the construction of a new 1.2km asphalt road. Overall, a great place for a large group looking for good quality accommodation, a large private swimming pool, peaceful countryside surroundings (but still only around 20 minutes from the sea), and some of the best weather that southern Spain has to offer. Free internet access (wifi) is available. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or queries. The swimming the pool is always for the exclusive use of you and your group.
We have just returned from two brilliant weeks at Casa La Cuerva - four adults and four small children.
The villa is fantastic - really spacious with plenty of room to roam, a great living room for family evenings and a number of verandas for family meals. The location is ideal - being high in the hills means that the temperature is slightly cooler than down by the sea, and it is very quiet both day and night. The gardens are very large and our children really enjoyed picking oranges off the orange trees. The swimming pool is the 'jewel in the cown' being a proper swimming pool rather than a paddling pool. One of our children learned to dive in the pool this week and one learned to swim! We had quite a few day excursions to Mojacar (etc) but generally couldnt wait to get back to the peace and quite of the villa. The view from the villa down to the sea is incredible.
The villa is well-maintained and very comfortable. Some of the decor is a little dated, but throughout it feels very Spanish. The air conditioning worked really well, which we needed.
The local town of Bedar is really pretty and very quaint. We had an ice cream there every afternoon!
The only improvement I would make would be to install a wi-fi internet connection.
If you're looking for nightlife, clubs and full on entertainment, don't bother reading any further !
If, however, you want peace, quiet, tranquility and views to die for, this could just be the place for you. Beautiful villa, lovely gardens, nicely laid out and more than enough room to accommodate everyone. A fantastic pool, probably the best pool for "proper" swimming we've ever had and enough space and sun loungers to keep everyone happy. There is also a small separate pool for toddlers as the main pool is around 4ft deep at the shallow end.
The villa is located high in the hills above Bedar village (stunning views), probably around a mile and a half from the village and up a dirt track but certainly worth the drive. It is well equipped, clean, comfortable and with plenty of outside dining options as well as a large dining table indoors if you should need it. All bedrooms are of a really good size with plenty of wardrobe/storage space, air con and mosquito screens on the windows. There is a TV and CD player if you want it, plenty of board games/cards to play and a selection of books to read.
There are plenty of beaches to visit, all about a 20 -30 min drive from the villa (depending on which beach you are heading for) but I'm afraid we spent most of our time lounging by the pool doing very little which was the whole point of our holiday !
All in all, a lovely place to spend a holiday, especially if you are looking for somewhere to completely switch off, chill out and relax and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend La Cuerda if this is what you are looking for.
We stayed at Casa la Cuerda in September 2009. The villa itself was beautiful - exactly as the advert described and possibly better!! Very good standards of cleanliness and everything you need for a great holiday. We were able to visit the Ahlambra during our holiday and also various other towns and villages, particularly worth a trip is Mojacar. Kids loved the swimming pool - huge! Couple of good restaurants in Bedar and plenty of places to eat on the coast - recommend "Neptune" restaurant on the seafront of Mojacar/Garrucha - delicious seafood! Excellent communication from Ben from our initial contact to leaving the house - we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would have no hesitation in recommending Casa la Cuerda - hope to return soon!

Casa la Cuerda is a superb villa that I have stayed at twice now with family and friends. It really is as attractive as the pictures show with bright spacious accommodation and an amazing hilltop location. The pool and terrace are the jewels in the crown and it is hard to imagine a more tranquil or spectacular setting for a villa.
The villa is presented to a high standard and was very clean on arrival both times we stayed.
The local village of Bedar is warm and friendly with basic amenities and local restaurants, and the beach at Mojacar playa is just a short drive away.
I would certainly firmly recommend Casa la Cuerda to friends and family alike and I would stay there again in the future. An ideal place to relax in the sun and get away from it all, experiencing the real Spain.
Casa La Cuerda is situated about 2 km above the picturesque village of Bedar. The village is a traditional, rural community that it situated in the easternmost province of Andalucia. There are some small shops, a couple of bars and and two or three restaurants.
