A beautiful studio in a stunning location!
This is a hidden gem of a place! It’s a little difficult to find this studio nestled in the woods but it is so worth it! The view of the lake is breathtaking! The hosts are so kind and have everything you need as well as a nice continental breakfast. I would recommend this little cozy jewel!
Great location, and enjoyable stay!
The property was gorgeous, nestled in the Pacific Northwest Forest right on a small lake. The cabin was clean and cozy, with an excellent balcony perfect for unwinding and enjoying nature. The only thing that was a little unclear was that the cabin says it can sleep 3, but there’s only one bed. Bring an air mattress if you need another spot for sleeping. Overall, it was a great experience!
Thank-you for taking the time to write the review--we appreciate it! We usually keep a Coleman cot which is quite comfortable in the closet along with extra pillows and blankets. If we have two quests only, we sometimes take it out to allow for more room in the closet! Your feedback is important to to us--we can certainly leave it in closet so it is always available. Thank-you for staying at Blue Hydrangea! Gary & Joy
Perfect Lakeside Retreat!
Gary and Joy's rustic Blue Hydrangea was the perfect romantic getaway retreat for a couple. It was more than we even imagined it would be. Gary was very communicative and responsive and made access simple and easy while also allowing us to experience the peaceful solitude that Storm Lake provides.
Blue Hydrangea had wonderful effectively placed windows, a nice deck, and a westward facing and sunny view of serene Storm Lake, which could be seen from even the bed. The westward exposure sunshine was perfectly balanced with the filtering of light through the many trees. The place is surrounded with gorgeous hydrangeas, grape vines, wysteria, and other fantastic foliage.
Inside, Gary and Joy's thoughtfulness was omnipresent. The decor and color scheme was so well put together. We loved the vaulted wood ceiling and wall paneling balanced with painted walls and tiling. Even fresh flowers were in a vase on the deck. The color-coordinated kitchen greeted us with coffee cake, a stocked Keurig coffee maker, and a basket of snacks. The bathroom had the basics - including plenty of soft towels and shower supplies. Beyond the usual needs, the bathroom had thoughtful touches like a bottle of sunscreen, a good quality hair dryer, toothbrush travel kits, and even makeup wipes, should we have forgotten anything.
We were also impressed with the convenient Shark vacuum cleaner and helpful fan in the closet - along with the considerate USB charger on the end table by the bed. Satellite TV and Sirius Radio were included, although we did not make use of these.
We had an absolutely wonderful and peaceful weekend here, and would strongly recommend staying here. Thanks Gary & Joy for the perfect relaxing weekend that we needed.

Really nice place, quiet, relaxing, comfortable, with everything you need to enjoy your gate away, to rest in the nature. Beautiful lake, great fishing, swimming, kayaking....
Great relaxing getaway
Couldn’t have been happier with our stay here. Was looking forward to a few days of relaxing and doing some fishing and neither disappointed. Had great luck fishing for trout right off the back dock. It’s a nice quiet lake, very peaceful. The unit had everything we needed and had as nicely decorated and had a great cottage feel. Check in was easy and we were given a basket of snacks in the room. Would definitely return for another relaxing weekend.
Stayed at Blue Hydrangea while our adult children camped at Flowing Lake. Quite convenient
