About Byron Connell
We recently moved to Rhode Island from California! For Robin this is a return to her beloved New England after 30 years; for Byron (California native) this is a retirement adventure after leaving the hustle and bustle of Silicon Valley for the beauty of a coastal life. Even though Robin continues to work part-time as an Executive Coach, we have plenty of time to embrace our new-found freedom spending wonderful time with family and friends, including our two east-coast college students, and to travel, which is our great love. Byron continues to dabble a bit in Consumer Marketing, but mostly indulges his non-vocational passions like photography with endless beautiful surroundings as his subjects.

Why Byron Connell chose Bristol
We had already done our homework on the town of Bristol and this particular out-of-the way street, so when 3 Brookwood Road came on the market, we were ready to jump on it! We love the quaintness and historic feel of Bristol—all the charm of Newport and other busier areas, but without the hassles that those spots sometimes include. The house itself is a gambrel-roofed cape cod style with shingles and beautiful decks. The interior is charming and has been updated with ship-lap paneling and beams—so clean, inviting and beautifully livable. It has all the amenities you’ll need including ample room for family dining as well as cozy spots for reading or gathering together.
What makes this House unique
Our lovely property is waterfront with a rolling lawn down to the edge of the Narragansett Bay. There’s room for great backyard living and games (hammock, croquet), and outdoor dining. It has its own lawn deck on the sea wall, and stairs down to an ample beach with private water access for swimming, clamming, and kayaking, or just hunting for shells. The backyard and decks are west-facing, with gorgeous and ever-changing sunsets. There is nothing like toasting the end of the day from the deck on a balmy evening, or sitting with morning coffee and enjoying the fresh and gorgeous water views, sailboats, and bird life! It also has immediate access from our dead-end street to the Bristol Town Beach and Recreation facilities (steps away!) which adults and children alike will revel in: tennis court, basketball court, sand volley ball court, picnic areas, roller hockey court, skate board park. Just beyond the Bristol town facilities is the adjacent and beautiful Colt State Park with hundreds of acres of open space and water vistas including walkways, boat ramp, bike path, fishing pier. One block away from the water is a pristine bicycle path (bikers and pedestrians). Downtown Bristol is a 5 minute bike ride and includes lovely historic buildings, delicious restaurants of all types, quaint shopping and coffee shops, sailing excursions, and fun summer concerts. As you move out from Bristol, there are more restaurants and historic points of interest than you can count, including Newport beaches, mansions and nightlife, Warren restaurants, and Providence (16 miles away) with all of its culture, concerts, and fabulous food options. So much to do in proximity to such a beautiful and relaxed setting. It’s our ideal and we hope it will be yours too!

Property is totally thought out for guests The Connell’s were totally attentive and available but we didn’t need a thing as everything was there.
Bristol is a great fun town. Hereshoff Museum good restaurants etc. Perfect September weather didn’t hurt 😎
Thanks so much for the review and kind words. We are so glad you enjoyed your time in Bristol. The Herreshoff Museum in downtown Bristol and the East Bay Bike path around the corner from the house are really wonderful local treasures. Hope to have you guys back next year too!
Setting was wonderful, home was welcoming and better than expected. The host provided the most information and communication we have ever experienced renting on VRBO or AirBNB. Definitely would return to this rental.
We're so glad you guys enjoyed your visit to Bristol and our beach home. We would love to have you back again next year.
P.S. We also took your advice and just upgraded our curtains in the master bedroom. We now have heavier drapes that help block the morning and late afternoon sun.
A family vacation setting with something for everyone!
We are just back from our stay at Byron and Robin's beautiful waterfront vacation home on the Narragansett Bay. Three generations of our family had a wonderful time together enjoying the beach, walking and biking trails...all steps away from this lovely home that is outfitted with amenities to fit everyone's interests..from bikes to badminton, bocce to beach tubes. There's definitely something for everyone, including me who loved enjoying the incredible views from the hammock! We definitely plan to be back.
Hi Barbara -
Thanks much for the kind words. It was a pleasure having you and your family stay at our Bristol Beach House. Thanks also for the suggestion of adding a full length mirror in the master bedroom. We really liked the idea and installed it today so it's there for your next visit! Hope to have you back next year!
The owners could not have been better. The effort that they have put in to make sure that you truly enjoy your time at their house is amazing. The proximity of the house to town, the town park, the state park, the bike path, sports facilities, and even Newport kept all six of us entertained. The house is clean and the back yard and deck were just perfect!
Thanks much for your kind words. We really enjoyed having you guys as guests too. So glad to hear that you had a wonderful family sailing adventure in Newport and a lot of quality 1-on-1 time with your son at the basketball courts next door at the Bristol Town Beach & Outdoor Sports Complex. Hope to see you guys next year too!
Wonderful family time
My family loved our time in Bristol. The house was convenient and cozy. Lots of activities for our energetic bunch. Would love to repeat next summer!
It was great to have you & your family stay at our beach home in Bristol last week. We would love to have you guys back next year too!
Thanks also for sharing your striped bass fishing photo with us --- quite a catch! It looked like a fun & successful expedition with Sara Star Fishing Charters. I'll have to relay their contact information to our future guests too! Cheers.
Better than Advertised!
Awesome trip with our family! Byron and Robin were very accommodating - messages and welcome book were great - we were able to get up to speed quickly. Sunsets were amazing and local beach and biking were awesome. Property is close to Newport with tons to do in the area. Were able to go out on a private fishing charter and had a great time. Already booked our return for next year!
So glad you guys enjoyed your time in Bristol and thanks for the recommendation on using Arch Angel Boat Charters --- 20 striped bass is quite a catch! We look forward to having you guys back as guests next year! You'll should see some more upgrades and refinements to the property in 2020!
