Very lovely couple. We enjoyed hosting them very much. They were calm, clean and very friendly. Indeed, this is how home renting becomes a pleasure and friendships are built across nations. Hope to see them again in the future!
Andelfingen represents the regional center of Zurich’s wine country. The village lies between Winterthur and Schaffhausen and is surrounded by large vineyards. It accommodates several restaurants, a supermarket, small boutiques, a specialized shop for organic and farm shops with regional products. It stands out with its distinct church tower, its historic buildings, its water mills and its 18th century castle garden renowned throughout Switzerland and open to the public. The river Thur that runs through the village invites for pleasant hiking or adventurous river rafting activities.
Several sightseeing spots within reach for you to be explored:
-The Rhine falls: Europe’s largest waterfall
-The towns of Winterthur and Schaffhausen: charming old towns, shops, restaurants, markets, museums and festivals
-Nearby villages protected as national monuments: home to Switzerland's oldest and most beautiful timber-framed buildings.
-Traditional ferry crossing to the German bank of the Rhine.
-Girsberg and Schwandegg castles – medieval castles from the 13th century.
-Galluskappelle – historic chapel with frescoes from the 9th century.
-Rheinau – a medieval village at a S-bend in the Rhine. On the island stands the former Benedictine monastery with one of Switzerland's most beautiful Baroque churches.
-Thurauen Nature Centre: starting point for activities in the largest floodplain in Central Switzerland at the confluence of the rivers Thur and Rhein
