Ca'Degolin is a classic Venetian dwelling in a bourgeois palazzetto of the 16th century, built by the patrician Dogolin family, who owned 5 more houses in the area. Bourgeois simple, but with stately appearance. Ca'Degolin is integrated as an independent residential unit in the Palazzetto and has a private entrance. During the extensive renovation, we took special attention to preserve the Venetian atmosphere. Historic charme meets modern comfort! Air conditioning and central heating ensure a pleasant stay in both summer and winter.
Its strategic but quiet location makes this house the ideal base for sightseeing or taking trips to the lagoon.
The private entry hall downstairs welcomes our guests with a typically Venetian marble floor with a red and white checkerboard pattern.
Access to the first floor and the remaining rooms is via a marble staircase. The spacious entry area leads to a fully equipped kitchen with electric cooker, dishwasher and washing machine. The ample living/dining room with parquet flooring is decorated in a classical-contemporary style, and invites you to relax on a cosy couch and Le Corbusier armchairs.
Books, a DVD player, a TV and an iMac promise you entertainment and relaxation.
The two elegant bedrooms on the first floor are equipped with real parquet Doussie. The original Venetian furniture was designed and produced by Guarise.
The master bedroom, decorated with light-coloured fabrics, represents the romantic mood of past times.
A Louis XVI style double bed, gilded bedside tables and Murano chandeliers create an atmosphere of pure luxury..
The second bedroom with views of a typical “corte” is equipped in Roccoco retro-style and decorated with Venetian fabrics.
High quality mattresses as well as fly screens allow you a good night’s sleep.
Both bathrooms have shower, WC and bidet and are equipped with lovely glass mosaics in classical, gold accentuated colours.
Suitable for people who appreciate a spacious, well maintained and beautifully equipped apartment for their stay in bella Venezia.
You are booking with the owner directly and not with an agent.

My name is Veronica and I live with my family in Southern Bavaria in Germany. My husband and I love Venice and the special life style no other city can offer. With buying a venetian house in 2010 our dream came true. After 6 months of renovation works Ca'Degolin gained back its splendor and became our second home.
Veronica purchased this Apartment in 2011
Why Veronica chose Dorsoduro
We love the Dorsoduro district! Bright and friendly, artistic, full of life but still calm and relaxed. Lots of good restaurants and pubs, all shopping nearby.
What makes this Apartment unique
Ca'Degolin is a Venetian townhouse, that means an independent dwelling unit in an old palazzetto on two floors with its own private entrance on the ground floor. Above all, this means absolute privacy and independence. The apartment is very centrally located in Dorsoduro but still quiet as the Calle ends at a canal and is only used by a few local inhabitants. The neighborhood between San Sebastiano and Campo San Barnaba is very relaxed, with the locals as well as visitors of Venice because the infrastructure is particularly good. There are also many excellent bars and restaurants nearby. Venice's southern promenade along the Giudecca canal, the famous "Zattere", is just a few minutes walk away with many appealing restaurants. Who would like to see the impressive cruise ships at the entrance and exit, here they go. Ca'Degolin can be easily reached from the airport and the mainland by public boat. Two boat moorings are in the immediate vicinity. Also trips to the beach are easy to organize. Venetian street jumble, especially at night, has already left many tourists in search of their apartment ... Our apartment is also easy to find for people being bad with directions :-)

Charming and beautiful Venetian apartment
This apartment is on a lovely and quiet street. It is immaculately kept with key amenities: computer, dishwasher and washing machine. The bathrooms are state of the art and pristine. We loved the apartment and could have stayed for a month (and been happy). The owner is terrific - great communication.
Not What It Seemed
My first impression upon entering this property was is definitely wasn't the way it seemed in the photos. We were expecting a large ,airy, bright apartment. The photos were shot with a wide angle lense. We thought there were two queen beds there are four twin beds , two pushed together in the master bedroom. The master bedroom didn't have one mosquito screen in a window which meant a poor night sleep the first night. The second day there was major construction being done at 7am and dust coming in the window. The master bedroom has a musty smell independent of the construction. The smaller room ,while charming, did have a sewage odour perhaps as the water levels were high. The kitchen was charming and well appointed.Very appreciated were the rain boots as the end of the street does flood.Great location.A blanket would be appreciated for the master bedroom like the two beds in smaller room.Lovely decorative elements and furniture.Surprisingly good restaurants close by.Very strong air conditioners if you should need it.
I'm sorry you found the apartment not spacious enough for the two of you, mother and son. Ca'Degolin measures 100 sqm, has a private hall and staircase on the ground floor and even on the first floor there is a large entrance with the open kitchen, a living room with dining area, two bathrooms with shower, WC, bidet, sink and two bedrooms, one of them a large master bedroom with a king size bed. The bed was made by the same company that also equipped the Bauer Palazzo with beautiful handmade furniture. The bed is king size 180cm/200cm - one piece and not pushed together of two single beds. For a better comfort and on guest's request we put two matresses 90cm/200cm in a very good hotel quality.
The smaller bedroom has two single beds, all is clearly shown on the photos and written in the description. My husband is a photographer and he did extra not use the super wide angle to prevent that dimensions of the rooms are too much distorted. Instead he used a normal wide angle to show a more realistic overview of the rooms.
To use a wide angle is the modern method to photograph in a manner to present a whole room with all the interior in the best possible way. Anything else is from the last century.
Nobody ever complained about the apartment not being like shown on the photos, on the contrary the general opinion is that it is even more nice in reality! As the windows are quite big we found it sufficient to put the mosquito screens (which are not standard in Venice) on only one window in each room. The best invitation for the mosquitos is to open the window without the screen during night.
The "major construction site" you describe is a renovation of an apartment in a house opposite ours. I apologize for any inconvenience with the dust but what can we do?? Venice is not a wellness center or Disneyland. It is a City with residents living there. They all have to maintain their houses in a time-and money consuming way, no one who isn't involeved can imagine. These works will save Venice for the next generations and it needs a lot of love for the City to go through all that. The same applies for the "Venice smell" which is sometimes stronger and sometimes you don't recognize it at all, it depends on the water level and the weather in common.
Venice is not the right place to visit if you mind the smell.
a great and peaceful oasis!
We had such a wonderful stay at Veronica's place! Very beautiful and tastefully decorated house, all the details of our needs well taken care of. Very quiet and comfortable place to unwind after a long day of sightseeing, with great restaurants and shops around, and it is a very easy walking distance to San Marco and other major sights. Would highly recommend it. Thank you Veronica for such a wonderful oasis!
Thank you Yan, it was a pleasure to host you! We are thrilled you liked our place so much.
Tanti saluti, Veronica + Michael
Fantastic location, we were able to walk Everywhere . Extremely comfortable and clean.
Thanks so much, it was lovely to have you at our venetian home!
great apartment, great location
We loved this apartment for our family. It is central to a boat dock and a great plaza for cafes and is a good spot to take off walking to all the many great alleys of venice. It was so comforable.. had all the amenities and we would stay again in a heartbeat.
thank you! You are always welcome at our beautiful place in Venice. Hope to see you back soon!
Veronica + Michael
This place was a jewel! Our overall enjoyment of Venice was enhanced each day when we awoke to the quiet, well-equipped apartment with spacious accommodation for two couples. We especially enjoyed the neighborhood-it was close to two vaparetto stops and had a distinctive 'authentic' Venice feel. The grocery was close by for shopping. Veronica arranged to have us met by a young woman who showed us to the apartment and gave us information about the area. This really was our favorite of four VRBO apartments that we chose in Italy for this trip. Everything worked well and the apartment was immaculate.
Wonderful, thank you so much! it was a great pleasure to have you as guests from first e-mail to check-out. Hope to welcome you again, perhaps in our new apartment near the Arsenale?
Warm regards, Veronica and Michael
Dorsoduro, surrounded by the Grand Canal and the Canale di Giudecca, is historic Venice’s sunniest and most charming neighborhood. The “Sestiere” contains a number of smaller typically Venetian residential houses on quaint canals as well as historic palazzi and monumental religious buildings. Romantic alleys and squares lined with boutiques, galleries and antiques shops invite you to stroll. Various shops selling everyday commodities create a perfect infrastructure. Despite its many advantages, Dorsoduro is not yet as crowded as San Marco with its world famous piazza or San Polo with the Rialto Bridge. It has remained a quiet residential area, popular amongst locals. The atmosphere in this neighborhood is artistic and relaxed, due to the university Ca’Foscari and the range of art galleries and exhibitions. Thanks to the strategic location, all sights can be accessed by foot in no time. Other Activities: Fitness center
