About Jennifer and Ken
We are avid travelers who love NYC. Ken has lived here all of his life and Jen came here for college and never left. We regularly take advantage of all that our fabulous city of New York offers, and we look forward to sharing our recommendations with you!
Jennifer and Ken purchased this Apartment in 2006
Why Jennifer and Ken chose East Harlem
We love living in Harlem. The people are friendly and interesting, the architecture is beautiful, you can go out and catch great music every night of the week, and the food is fantastic! We are close to several subway lines and can get to any other part of the city with ease. We think you will also love the experience of living in our neighborhood, as it will allow you to see how much more there is to NYC than just the tourist attractions. Harlem is a vibrant community that we are sure you will thoroughly enjoy.
What makes this Apartment unique
You can feel the history that lives in the brownstones throughout the neighborhood. We love coming home to our classic building with its "Sesame Street" stoop and the garden we've planted in front of the rental studio. People say hello to each other and it often feels more like a small town-- our block also features a beautiful community garden (Harlem Rose Garden) that you are welcome to enjoy!

Greatly appreciated all the thoughtfulness and forward thinking of Jennifer & Ken. Everything was b
We spent 4 nights and loved the firm bed, great shower, and fully stocked kitchen. Thank you!
A home away from home
This holiday rental is truly a home. Myself and my partner stayed for five nights and it was such a relaxing, quiet and comfortable place to come back to after exploring NYC every day. Their street and property front is beautiful; authentic NYC. And the home itself is spacious and decked with everything you could need for staying away from home. We were able to do a load of washing (after already being overseas for a week), sleep in a super comfy bed and enjoy Netflix in our down time. We didn’t take advantage of the kitchen but could tell everything we needed was there to be enjoyed.
Lastly, the hosts are super welcoming but do not make their presence known which was really appreciated.
JEN AND KEN HAS AN AMAZING PLACE! THE APARTMENT HAS EVERYTHING YOU NEEED (DOWN TO A SAFETY PIN AND A FUNNEL)! WHEN ME AND MY FRIENDS ARRIVED IT WAS EASY TO ACCESS THE APARTMENT AND ONCE YOU WALK IN YOU FEEL AT HOME! THE DECOR SETS THE TONE AND ENERGY ONCE YOU ARRIVE. THE BED WAS COMFORTABLE AND THE PULLOUT SOFA BED WAS AMAZING AS WELL! IN THE BATHROOM THERE IS A HEAT AIR DRY OPTION ONCE YOU GET OUT THE SHOWER! THE KITCHEN HAD EVERY THING YOU COULD ASK FOR! I KNOW WHEN I COME BACK TO NYC JEN AND KENS PLACE WILL BE A PLACE WHERE I STAY! ALSO I LOVE HOW THEIR PLACE IS ON THE 2 and 3 TRAIN WHICH TAKES YOU TO TIMES SQUARE AND BROOKLYN! IF YOURE READING THIS BOOK YOUR STAY WITH JEN AND KEN!
This was one of the greatest places we have stayed at. Amazing location if you love the Harlem experience which we do. Very quiet neighborhood, close to all subway trains, walking distance to some of the best food in NY. Jennifer was an outstanding host, great conversation and very down to earth. Plenty of space for 2.
We highly recommend it and would definitely stay there again.
Pretty, well-stocked, studio apartment on quiet street in Harlem
Our family of three really enjoyed our stay at Ken and Jennifer's garden apartment on E. 129th. It's beautifully decorated and has everything one needs—comfortable beds (including the sleeper sofa), good drawer and closet space, good lighting, good climate control, a dining table for 4, and a well-equipped kitchen and bathroom. A lot of small touches make it even more special: travel books and brochures on NYC, wonderful coffee table books on Harlem and its history, very nice art, condiments & coffee in cabinets and fridge, and a welcome gift of a bottle of wine. Ken and Jennifer were away during our trip, but stayed in touch to be sure that we had all we need. Also it's an easy walk to 125th St subway and Whole Foods, with good restaurants along the way.
An authentic NYC experience!
The 4 of us stayed together in this cozy apartment (2 parents and 2 young adolescent boys). The apartment itself was very well equipped with conveniences to make our stay easy while away from home. We were conveniently located close to the subway in Harlem, and getting around the city was very easy from this location. This apartment in Harlem offered an authentic experience of living in NYC!
We are located in the heart of Harlem, an incredibly diverse, exciting and beautiful neighborhood in NYC. The area is full of great restaurants, bars, jazz clubs and shopping, and only minutes away from all the famous tourist attractions of mid- and downtown Manhattan. You can walk to Central Park and the Apollo Theater, eat at world class restaurants like Marcus Samuelsson's Red Rooster, visit local churches for gospel services, and admire the historic brownstone architecture all around you. Harlem is an extremely friendly and welcoming neighborhood that will give you a true sense of what makes NYC such an amazing place to live and visit.
