About the property

With view of the Grachten, rich Dutch breakfast included

On the ground floor of the Grachten house, built in 1892, the friendly Dutch host family has converted 2 beautiful rooms, each with 30 m², to cosy guest rooms. Through its original preserved sliding doors the two rooms can be connected to one big room - ideal for families or small groups. The sophisticated and lovingly renovated rooms, furnished in Dutch style, are equipped with comfortable beds and chairs, and with a microwave, fridge, kettle, coffee machine. Private modern guest's bathroom with shower. Various books and magazines about Amsterdam and internet access are provided. When you open the curtains in the morning, you see – even thought you are in the middle of the city – only green and water.

Rich, Dutch breakfast included!: The host will provide you with a delicious Dutch breakfast in your room: with home made bread and a large selection of sweet or hearty toppings, with fresh coffee, tea, fruit juices, yoghurt and cereal with fresh fruits.

You can choose between:

- Self-service breakfast:

In this case the host will put the breakfast ingredients in your fridge, and the fresh baked good will be hung at the door knob of you room

- breakfast at the breakfast table

In this case the breakfast will be served to you at the dining table in your room.

Arrival by airplane/train, car, Parking: From the airport Schiphol with the NS regional train to the 'Centraal Station'. From there with the Tram 9 till 'Alexanderplein'. From 'Alexanderplein' 2 minutes walk to the B&B Grachtenhaus 'An der Plantage Muidergracht'.

If you have bicycles, you can leave them in the courtyard (theft proof).

Unfortunately, there is only chargeable parking in Amsterdam.

Our recommendation:

The low prices park+ride parking lot Zeeburg, 8 EUR per 24 h, including a tram ticket for the return to the centre (subject to change).

Do you have questions? We are happy to help you!: We are a friendly agency with 2 persons in Berlin, we have been working for over 20 years with personally selected and well maintained accommodations in the large Metropolises of Europe.

We recommend the B&B Grachtenhaus 'An der Plantage Muidergracht' especially because of its quiet and still central location close to the historic old town, its view to the Grachten and the moderate prices. The accommodation is especially suitable for families or small groups travelling together, that want a good breakfast, but don't want to cook.

The friendly host family from Amsterdam speaks very well English and well German and is available for all of your questions!

Absolutely perfect stay in Amsterdam!!

  • 5 of 5

This was the most perfect B&B in Amsterdam. The location is ideal and well situated for restaurants, site seeing and the tram system. The rooms are spacious, bright and welcoming. The home is perfect for a relaxing stay!! Elsbeth is the most perfect hostess, providing a wonderful filling and delicious fresh breakfast. Do yourself a favor and stay here while in Amsterdam!!

Good Place to Stay - As Expected

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I along with my mother stayed here for 4 nights in April, 2016. We picked it as it was on the ground floor and with my 85 year old we didn't want to have any stairs! Most places didn't seem to have an elevator. We found it easily enough, very convenient for the tram and from here you can get to where ever you want. We just purchased the transit pass and found it to very easy to get around. Everyone on the tram were very respectful of my mothers age and she never had to stand. The rooms worked well for us, the bathroom is outside with easy access for both rooms. Elsbeth was very accommodating with breakfast, she made it for when ever we wanted it, very early one morning then after a very long day she came a little later the next, after our late request to do so. Breakfast were as expected in what was served and they were good. We enjoyed them and found there was more than enough for the 3 of us. There are a few small restaurants not too far from the rooms. One we would have liked to try didn't take cash. Seems to be a trend in Amsterdam where cash is no longer accepted, direct debit or credit cards only. Elsbeth also arranged for a taxi for us to go to the airport for our flight home. He came on time, the cost was what was quoted and it all worked out very well. The driver was great, very friendly and as we sat in a traffic jam for some time we had lots of time to chat! Overall we had a great time and would recommend this as a good place to stay.

We were very disappointed with Dam Square, while we were there a midway was set up and spoiled it. The Palace was a really good along with a surprise 'Our Lord in the Attic'. We had a great day out to the bulb fields, canal trip, museums and finished off with a visit to Anne Frank House. Make sure you book Anne Frank House in advance, not easy to do but keep trying. A really busy time but well worth it.

Friendly, but loud

  • 3 of 5

The owner was very friendly and the two adjoining rooms made a good first impression.

It was unfortunately fairly loud (1st night the owner's dog was howling in front of our door non stop until she came home around 11 pm, the other two nights we could hear the conversations and TV upstairs as well as people walking (jumping?) around at all hours of the night). Since we were traveling with two young children that go to bed at 7 pm, I would not recommend this to young families, but if it would have been just my husband and me it would probably not have bothered us as much.

The earliest we were able to get breakfast was 7.30 am and it was a standard and tasty European breakfast.

We traveled by car and opted to park 15 car minutes away at a park&ride parking lot for 1 Euro a day (and ride the tram back), since it would have cost us 4,50 Euros per hour in front of the bed&breakfast.

A great stay in the Plantage

  • 5 of 5

My friend and I stayed here for 5 days following a river cruise through the Netherlands. Elsbeth was very accommodating. She arranged for a driver to meet us at the ship and also to take us to the airport at the end of our stay. The room has a window on the street, a little table and chairs outside, a lovely canal across the street. The neighborhood is so quite. It is a nice respite after a day in the centrum. We found the little corner pub/diner by the tram stop. A local place, we stopped there each night to hang out with the locals. Very friendly and good food. I would recommend this place highly. Elsbeth and Bart are great. The breakfast was outstanding. We really enjoyed the area.

Great owner and location!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of three stayed here for two nights in March. The location was easy to find and is across the street from a pretty canal. The house is one block from the tram so we had easy access to wherever we wanted to go. We arrived very early by train from Paris and the owner was nice enough to let us bring our bags by. She also provided a wonderful breakfast each morning at the time we requested. The rooms were spacious and had everything we needed. The small bathroom was just down the hall. I would definitely stay here again!

Wonderful home away from home and great family

  • 4 of 5

We arrived late and the owner greeted us on the street. We brought our 4 year old daughter and the owner took her to her own bed and gave her lots of toys and games to entertain her while we unpacked the car. The owner also gave us great dinner ideas, places, to park and the tram was only 30 meters from the front door. The two adjoining rooms were cozy and comfortable and the bathroom is down the hall from the rooms. The owner brought us a wonderful dutch breakfast at the time we requested with freash bread, still warm. Her family even bought a nice small gift for our daughter since the Christmas markets were already open. The city was wonderful to explore from this location and the Zoo was just down the block. Very easy to get around the city, even with small children. We had a wonderful time and will recommend this B&B to our friends and family. Thank you so much for making our trip spectacular.

Welcome to the B&B Grachtenhaus 'An der Plantage Muidergracht' in one of the greenest district in the city centre of Amsterdam. At the edge of the old town and only 15 minutes walk or 4 stations with the tram from the historic Grachtengordel, the relaxing atmosphere of the city's district 'Plantage' is shaped by historic gardens and parks. This district of Amsterdam, planed since 1663, wasn't densely populated till about 1860. From this time dates the B&B Grachtenhaus 'An der Plantage Muidergracht'. It is situated next to the Gracht of the same name. In the immediate surroundings you can find the oldest Zoo of Europe 'Artis' and the botanic garden from the 17th century, Hortus Botanicus. The Scheepvaart Museum (maritime museum), which is well worth seeing, can be reached in 15 minutes walk, likewise the Trumpet Museum or the romantic Oosterpark. A wide selection of restaurants, pizzerias, cosy cafés to sit inside and outside, tapas bars and a small brewery with adjoining pub are located in the immediate surroundings. And whose famous footsteps can be found here? Albert Einstein's! He was often visiting his fellow scientist and Nobel Price winner Pieter Zeeman, whose workplace was located in the Plantage Muidergracht. But Zeemann was a busy man, so Einstein often had to wait for him. So Albert Einstein liked to walk along the Gracht and regularly came by the B&B Grachtenhaus 'An der Plantage Muidergracht'!
