A great flat, with everything you could wish for!

We visited Casa Doria in June 2011 for a girls' (3 people) holiday lasting one week. The flat really was the perfect base for us, and comes with everything you could wish for to make your stay as "home like" as possible.

The flat is located on the ground floor on a quiet street in the heart of Alghero's old town. The flat is just one street away from all of the restaurants on the old wall, where you'll enjoy some of the most beautiful sunsets in Sardinia! A couple of streets over in the other direction, you'll find bars, restaurants, shops and cafes that stay open well into the early hours of the morning. Despite being in the heart of Alghero, it was never too noisy on our street, with only the occasional car or passer by (most of the noise came from the swallows!)

The property is very close to the marina however we did have to travel a little further afield to find the best beaches. The nearest beach (Via Lido) is around 25mins walk at a relaxed pace, however the next beach along (Maria Pia) was an absolute winner with crystal clear water and pine backed white sandy beach. It was within easy, affordable reach by the regular bus service that runs from the boundary of the old town (5mins walk from the flat), taking around 15-20mins.

The flat itself is quite dark owing to Alghero's narrow, densely packed streets, however this paired with keeping the shutters closed during the day helped keep it cool and we didn't need to put the air conditioning on once. The flat's interior is a little dated, and it doesn't have a separate living room, however every room in the flat leads nicely into the dining area. The flat comes equipped with all bedding, towels, cutlery, crockery and kitchen appliances you could ever need! There were even lovely little touches like a stamp for your post cards, as well as cool bags, games and umbrellas for the beach.

The owner, Claudio, was incredibly helpful in the lead up to our stay and we were greeted by his friendly cousin, Pino, for check in and check out. Everything was reassuringly hassle free and enjoyable which made our visit perfect - thank you!

ideale per brevi periodi

Abbiamo trovato la casa pulita e dotata di tutto ciò che ci occorreva, si trova nel cuore del centro storico in zona ztl quindi impossibile arrivarci agevolmente in macchina. L'unica pecca della casa è non avere uno spazio esterno in cui poter stendere la biancheria. Dovendo soggiornare per lunghi periodi questo fatto la rende scomoda.

Perfekt ausgestattet - mitten in der Altstadt

Eine bessere Lage kann man sich kaum wünschen - die Wohnung liegt mitten in der Altstadt. Zu Fuß erreicht man in nur wenigen Minuten Restaurants, Bars, Eisdielen, Einkaufsmöglichkeiten (Supermarkt, Bäckerei, Metzgerei etc.) sowie die Boutiquen und Sehenswürdigkeiten der Altstadt von Alghero. Auch der Hafen ist sehr nah gelegen. Abends ist in der Nähe der Wohnung immer etwas los; dennoch ist es nachts ruhig genug, um Schlaf zu finden.

Zum Strand ist es dafür ein bisschen weiter, aber auch problemlos zu Fuß in ca. 15 Minuten erreichbar. Für uns (zwei Erwachsene und elfjähriges Kind) war der bewachte Strand mit Schirm und Liegen ideal, weil man dort alle Annehmlichkeiten hat und das Meer recht flach ist. Wer den Bus nimmt, kann auch in kurzer Zeit an die Strände von Maria Pia gelangen, die sehr malerisch hinter Pinienwäldern liegen, aber zum Großteil öffentlich sind. Wir waren ohne Auto unterwegs; die Fahrt mit dem Taxi vom Flughafen kostet rund 20 Euro. Ansonsten waren wir meistens zu Fuß unterwegs, abgesehen von ein paar Ausflügen mit dem Bus (Trottolo - übrigens sehr zu empfehlen) oder dem Boot. Das war problemlos möglich.

Wir buchen für unseren Urlaub meist Ferienwohnungen; aber selten haben wir eine so sensationell gut ausgestattete Wohnung vorgefunden wie in der Casa Doria. Die Küche hat alles, was man braucht, auch eine Kühl-Gefrier-Kombi (sehr nützlich im August), neben Waschmaschine, Föhn, Bügeleisen und Bügelbrett, zahlreichen Handtüchern und Bettwäsche findet sich auch alles für den Strandbesuch und sogar einen Einkaufstrolley (in dem man auch wunderbar alle Strandutensilien unterbringen kann). Wir haben uns wirklich gefühlt wie zuhause. Wer dennoch ein bisschen Deutschland braucht, findet nicht nur eine 'deutsche' Filterkaffeemaschine vor, sondern auch deutsche Fernsehprogramme. Wer die Urlaubslektüre vergessen hat und des Italienischen nicht mächtig ist, kann sich ein deutsch- oder englischsprachiges Buch aussuchen.

Der Vermieter war im Vorfeld zur Reise mehr als hilfsbereit, stand mit Rat und Tat zur Seite und versorgte uns mit zahlreichen Tipps für An- und Abreise, Ausflüge und allem, was man sonst noch so wissen muss. Auch die Übergabe mit seinem Cousin in Alghero funktionierte vollkommen reibungslos und unkompliziert.

Kurzum: Wir waren begeistert und können die Wohnung in jedem Fall empfehlen. Sollten wir wieder in die Gegend kommen, werden wir sicher wieder die Casa Doria buchen!

Today the city is one of the most beautiful old towns and the port a center of Sardinian tourism. The old town is dominated by lively bustle of narrow streets. Many stores, including many souvenir - and jewelry shops make strolling a pleasure. The many restaurants offer a varied and very good food, especially fish and seafood are prepared. , Countless churches, piazzas and towers are next to the ramparts, the museums, the aquarium and the beaches north of the city the attractions. The city stretches across suburbs as Fertilia from the surrounding region. The environment, the coastal road to Bosa and the pass road to Villanova Monteleone include, next to the Nuraghe of Palmavera and of Domus de Janas necropolis of Anghelu Ruju and Santu Pedru to the sights of the surrounding area.
