La Lune has been described as our ‘chocolate box cottage,’ as you will see from the photographs. Set at the rear of the gardens it is very private, ideal for those who want a quite romantic holiday. The cottage has a living/dining room with traditional Louise XIV furniture, candles and a wood burning stove. The cottage has a fully fitted kitchen, there is also a shower room with toilet and basin.
The bedroom with its king size bed has French windows which lead directly onto a private terrace and garden area which has sun and shade all day long there is garden furniture, sunbeds and a private BBQ.
We are often asked what is upstair there are windows, the answer is nothing, the windows are access to the loft and the water heater.

As I normally lead a hectic London life surrounded by people and the pressure of deadlines, I found my recent week in La Lune a veritable paradise. The cottage has a beautiful decor, all the facilities you could need and is clean and well-maintained. As I greatly needed to just be, instead of always doing, I very much enjoyed the peaceful tranquility of the secluded gardens and the lovely pool, and the scent from the lavender and roses outside was just intoxicating! Liz and Ken are very generous and accommodatingly friendly hosts who helped me whenever there was something that needed dealing with i.e. dropping off at the shops in Le Grand Pressigny, booking of taxis etc. The only downside was some slightly cloudy days as well as one whole day of rain and thunder. A week away in their cottage really did the trick and I cannot recommend this cottage highly enough. I will be telling my friends about it and am planning to return myself next year!! :-)
We had a lovely week staying in La Lune. The cottage quaint and well equipped with a very comfortable and large bed. The gardens were beautiful and the pool was clean and a nice temperature.
The cottage is located within a short drive of some of great attractions (the Brenne national park and some nice chateau and towns) and within fairly easy reach of some of the Loire's more well known attractions. We also enjoyed walks from the doorstep through the local and very peaceful countryside.
Ken and Liz were excellent hosts - would love to return someday!
Gardens pretty and well maintained. Pool looked well maintained , we did not use it ourselves but those who appeared to enjoy it.
The cottage itself looked lovely however when we stepped inside the first thing we heard was the dehumidifier humming in the bedroom. It never switched off unless it was full, which was daily and we emptied litres of water each time. The damp problem was evident throughout the cottage: in the bedroom there was cracked rendering, in the kitchen the salt that we had taken with us was solid after three days and as the week went on it became more and more difficult to strike a match to light the cooker rings, the dishwasher tablets had gone soft inside their soluble plastic wrapping, and the bathroom floor was damp for the entire week after the first use of the shower.
The owners were very pleasant and helpful, but never managed to get the wi-fi working for us all week.
There were very very few attractions nearby, and the nearest Loire chateau is at least an hour away. We found enough things to do and places to see during our week, but finding more would have led to long drives every day.
We would not be happy to recommend this cottage to friends.
Although the weather was horrendous and totally unseasonal we were warm and cosy in front of the log burner. The cottage had everything we needed to make for a comfortable stay. The weather did not stop us from enjoying days exploring this little known area and discovering the chateaux, villages and town of the eastern Loire valley. Thank you Ken and Liz for welcoming us.
Lovely cottage in tiny hamlet far far away from the hustle and bustle. Well equipped, and tastefully and comfortably furnished. The owner is helpful and easygoing. We'd certainly recommend this cottage to anyone looking to spend a week in this lovely part of rural France.
This was our second stay at La Lune having enjoyed our honeymoon there in June last year. We enjoyed an Autumn holiday this time and as before enjoyed peace & tranquility, the Autumn colours in the sunshine were quite outstanding.
Ken & Liz were as always helpful, nothing being too much trouble and we enjoyed their company around the firepit on a unseasonably mild November evening.
This part of France for us, is the land where time stands still and for that reason we will return. Thanks again for a wonderful holiday. Malcolm & Debbie Eustice
Recreational opportunities abound in the region. Biking on the almost traffic-free country roads alongside the wide rivers, privately-owned châteaux and red-roofed villages, certainly qualifies as one of the most delightful activities. The many rivers which honeycomb the area, from the Creuse to the Gartempe to the Anglin, will be of special interest to swimmers and those who enjoy fishing. Bird watching is especially well-rewarded in the Regional Park of the Brenne, a wildlife refuge. For those who would like to be a little more energetic why not borrow our bikes and try one of the easy local bike rides and of course there are plenty of local walks, we also have local stables and tennis courts. We are lucky enough to be surrounded by Golf Courses which are underplayed for most of year, our nearest is just 15 mins away.
Other Activities: Bird Watching, Chateaux
Golf: We are lucky enough to be surrounded by quality golf courses that are not only quiet but affordable. Our nearest club is the 18 hole Golf du Connetable at La Roche Posay, just 15 minutes away and is a challenge for all standard of golfers. This ‘Woburnesk’ course is set amongst conifers with oaked lined fairways, wildlife is plentiful Red Squirrel’s abound and don’t be surprised to see the odd Stag or Boar running off into the forest. Golf de La Roche Possay
At Loches we have the 9 hole Golf Loches Verneuil which has been built in association with St. Andrews. Golf Loches Verneuil
Just outside Chatellerault is the Golf du Haut Poitou, here we have both a 9 and 18 hole course set around a large lake, again the 18 hole course is a challenge to all. Golf du Haut Poitou
A bit further out is the Golf du Manoir de Beauvoir, this beautiful course is set in the grounds of an old 19th centaury Victorian style manor which is now an hotel. Golf du Manoir de Beauvoir
