About Liz and Ken Mason
We are both originally from Ireland but lived in England for all of our married life. After ending our careers Liz as a nurse and mine in business we decided to purchase Les Frippierers in 2005 and to start a new period of our life here in France.
Liz and Ken Mason purchased this Apartment in 2005
Why Liz and Ken Mason chose Chaumussay
We offer 3 different properties each with it's own individual style and layout, all fitted to a high standard. The cottages are set in just over a acre of award winning gardens and each property has it's own private piece. We only offer the cottages to adults and therefore the ambiance is quite and peaceful, set in part of the garden is our heated swimming pool which you can sit beside or just visit from your own garden and cool down Time, care and effort have been spent with selecting the right contents for each beautifully furnished home to make them as perfect as possible. They all have china, plenty of glasses (very essential!), pots and pans etc., a large fridge with separate freeze compartment, gas fired oven and 4 burner hob, washing machine, dish-washer, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, iron and cold box for food shopping and picnics. A hand towel and tea cloths are provided for the kitchen, along with a cleaning sponge, washing up liquid, washing powder and dishwasher tablets. We also supply you with tea, coffee, milk, sugar, biscuits and a bottle of fizz to get you holiday started.

Perfect oasis in the French countryside
My husband and I stayed in Ciel Bleu for 12 days in late August/early September.
The property was just lovely, in a traditional French style, spotlessly clean with lots of thoughtful touches and all amenities you could possibly need including a dishwasher and access to laundry facilities. The hosts Ken and Liz are incredibly welcoming and are available if needed whilst also giving you privacy, we got some really good tips on exploring the area from them and they were quick to check that everything was okay for us. The gardens of the property are beautiful with lots of flowers and a lovely pool area which is shared by the three properties. Again, spotlessly clean and thoughtfully laid out.
Location of the cottages is just perfect if you are looking for somewhere to get away from it all but with lots of places to visit within an hours drive. The peace and calm of the rural setting was perfect for us with great walking or cycling available from the front door. Grocery shopping and dining are available less than ten minutes away and there are a multitude of picturesque small towns and villages to explore. Some of the most famous and beautiful chateau are within easy driving distance - Chenonceau, Villandry, Loches- and well worth a visit. Having a car here is a must but I would stress how easy driving around this area of France is.
All in all we had the perfect break here, so a big thank you to Liz and Ken for making it possible. I am certain we will be returning in the future.

Beautiful peaceful location. Gite is comfortable, well equipped. friendly helpful owners. Would definitely return
Very pleasant, owners very helpful and friendly. Second visit but still plenty to do and see.
Top quality, very pleasant surroundings.
A perfect short break
We stayed for 4 days, and had a lovely time. Ken was a great host, informative, friendly and accommodating.
The Gite was clean, had everything we needed, and comfortable. The location was fabulous. The only noise came from birds and insects. No traffic, no planes, nothing. It was very relaxing. The Pool was clean and cared for, and the grounds were beautiful.
It may seem that it's a bit remote, but, it's actually not far from a number of towns and villages, and we found things to do every day, (mind you, one of those days was 'sit by the pool and do nothing' but that was our choice). Plenty of sights to see, walks to take, market towns to visit.
If you are thinking of going, and like your vacation spots quiet, charming and relaxing, you won't be disappointed.
Thank you so much for the wonderful review and we hope to see you both again when you need the batteries recharged.

Peaceful and relaxing
We stayed for a week at the beginning of August and, having read some reviews were expecting something special. We were not disappointed! Quietly tucked away in lovely countryside yet within easy reach of a number of interesting towns and villages. The accommodation was first class and Ken and Liz very welcoming and helpful. What made it for us was the immaculate swimming pool. We have never before seen one so well kept and clean. It was shared but most days we were the only ones using it so seemed like ours alone. It is now on our favourites list - we will return!
Peaceful and comfortable stay in the middle of rural France
Thoroughly enjoyed our week in and around this charming cottage (Ciel Bleu) set above the owners' home with two other cottages. Facilities as described. Bed was extremely comfortable. Additional facilities to note: CD player, barbecue, washing line and pegs, washing machine, torch (for steep steps to front door) and binoculars to appreciate the most amazing starry skys. One of the holiday higlights! BBC TV on small screen for those who want it. We were abe to borrow a golf umbrella and a cool box at one stage. I noted that on my ipad and iphone the wifi was not fast enough to watch even short youtube clips which was not at all an issue for us but may be for others. Wifi extended from indoors to (allocated but not entirely private) lovely outdoor dining area but not to the pool area. Hosts Ken and Liz had a finely tuned balance of accommodating hospitability without being intrusive. Country lanes to get everywhere had hardly any traffic and endless rolling hills and sunflower fields. Gorgeous. Would be very keen to stay there again. Thanks!
Recreational opportunities abound in the region. Biking on the almost traffic-free country roads alongside the wide rivers, privately-owned châteaux and red-roofed villages, certainly qualifies as one of the most delightful activities. The many rivers which honeycomb the area, from the Creuse to the Gartempe to the Anglin, will be of special interest to swimmers and those who enjoy fishing. Bird watching is especially well-rewarded in the Regional Park of the Brenne, a wildlife refuge. For those who would like to be a little more energetic why not borrow our bikes and try one of the easy local bike rides and of course there are plenty of local walks, we also have local stables and tennis courts. We are lucky enough to be surrounded by Golf Courses which are underplayed for most of year, our nearest is just 15 mins away.
Other Activities: Bird Watching, Chateaux
Golf: We are lucky enough to be surrounded by quality golf courses that are not only quiet but affordable. Our nearest club is the 18 hole Golf du Connetable at La Roche Posay, just 15 minutes away and is a challenge for all standard of golfers. This ‘Woburnesk’ course is set amongst conifers with oaked lined fairways, wildlife is plentiful Red Squirrel’s abound and don’t be surprised to see the odd Stag or Boar running off into the forest. Golf de La Roche Posay
At Loches we have the 9 hole Golf Loches Verneuil which has been built in association with St. Andrews. Golf Loches Verneuil
Just outside Chatellerault is the Golf du Haut Poitou, here we have both a 9 and 18 hole course set around a large lake, again the 18 hole course is a challenge to all. Golf du Haut Poitou
A bit further out is the Golf du Manoir de Beauvoir, this beautiful course is set in the grounds of an old 19th centaury Victorian style manor which is now an hotel. Golf du Manoir de Beauvoir
