We enjoyed our stay very much and were sad that we could not remain longer. The rooms were larger than any hotel where we have stayed anywhere in Europe. The bed was very compfortable and we slept well! You could not have asked for a better hostess, she was attentive and made sure our stay was pleasant.
We plan on returning when we can!
A very good apartment on the edge of Freiburg, convenient not only for Freiburg, but also the Black Forest and the Rhine valley.
The owner was very efficient in the pre-booking arrangements and was very helpful at the start and end of our visit, with nice touches such as coffee and teabags and some fruit, plus some chocolates on arrival. The owner speaks good English and was very informative.
We had the larger of the apartments, which has a good size main bedroom, plus a smaller second bedroom, a kitchen / utility with all you need and a comfortable lounge. From the outside on the road the property doesn't look the prettiest but don't let that put you off, it is nice once round the back. It is at basement level from the front, though ground level at the back, this does mean the kitchen has little natural light but otherwise it is light enough.
You have access to a riverside area to sit out in on nice days, this isn't immediately outside the apartment but just a walk across the yard away and is a lovely place to sit.
The location is only 10 or so minutes from the very good Freiburg area tram network. (Tip, especially if you are thinking of going on the Schauinisland Cable Car look into the 3 day WelcomeKarte, this certainly was worthwhile for the two of us.) It is also easy by car to get out into the Black Forest, to the lovely towns and villages in the wine producing regions to the west of Freiburg or, though we didn't have time for this, the Rhine at Breisach.
We would have loved to have stayed longer in this area and this was a very good base for doing so.
Many thanks Heidi for making us feel very welcome. The apartment was very clean, thank you for the lovely flowers, chocolates and wine which was very thoughtful. Heidi spoke excellent English and helped us with suggestions of places to eat, places to visit and how to get to them all.
This was our first trip to the area and we would definitely recommend it. Freiburg is a beautiful historic city with stunning buildings and ease of access to the black forest. The public transport is brilliant and the flat is only 5 mins walk from the tram stop which has you in the town centre within 10mins. The accommodation was excellent, clean and well equipped but it was Heidi the very kind and generous host who made our stay so special. She looked after us well, providing us with very useful information about places to visit, local restaurants etc as well as keeping us well supplied with delicious cherries!
The area was very quiet and relaxing and with an outdoor swimming pool a short walk away our young daughter was very taken with the place. A lovely half hour walk along the river takes you into the old town and with plenty of cafes and parks along the way, lots of time to sit and enjoy the marvelous weather. We had a great holiday and would highly recommend it to others.
This is a beautifully appointed accommodation close to Freiburg. There is every amenity provided for your comfort. It is situated in a rural setting, with a river flowing by the property. There are walking/biking paths at your door step. A tram stop is nearby as is a grocery store. Heidi speaks excellent English which made for easy communication. Her helpful advice enhanced our holiday. The beautiful picturesque Black Forest is just waiting for your discovery. It was the perfect place to celebrate our anniversary.
Thanks Heidi for sharing your property with us.
We have enjoyed holidays in Germany for the past 30 years & have stayed at many self catering apartments. This is most definitely one of the best we have ever stayed at, because of the hospitality & generousity of the owners Heidi & Dieter.
The standard of accomodation is exceptional, its bright & welcoming & tastefully decorated to a high standard, with everything you could possibly need. All the little extras make the whole experience extra special.
It is approx 5 minute walk to the tram which takes you right into Freiburg, this meant we never even took the car into town as it was so easy. You can buy a ticket for 10 euros & that can be used as many times as you like within 24 hours, it is also good for up to 5 people. great value. The ticket can be bought at the little shop right opposite to where you get on the trams, which run every 5 or 6 minutes.
The location is perfect. A quiet area, with safe parking. Lots of lovely riverside walks. There are lots of beautiful little villages to visit, two of our favourites were Staufen ( market on Wed & Sat) & Badenweiller. Freiburg is great on a Saturday as they have a lot going on then. We loved the Mart Halle in Freiburg for any kind of food you like & a great atmosphere too.
Heidi speaks perfect English & is always happy to help in any way she can.Her knowledge of the area is superb & she certainly knows how to make her guests feel welcome.
We have already booked to go back next year as it was such a lovely holiday.
