Good for a short stay
Well located for bus and train, a bit noisy but you get used to the trains. There was a fan, which shows Andrea is attentive to previous customer concerns. Very clean. We had a bit of trouble with the lights going off, hope that has been taken care of. Andrea gives a very good orientation tour. We appreciated the chance to do laundry after several days in Switzerland. Would recommend it.
Cute little place ...
My daughter and I really enjoyed our time in Switzerland. Andrea was great. She met us and gave us lots of hints. It was a little hard to tell what place we were getting from the pictures online. Ours was the one with the two single beds and the sofa couch. The place, itself, is great. The problem was that it backed up to the Wipkingen train staition. There were a lot of trains that came down those tracks. Yes, we were there during a heat wave and had to have the windows open, but it still was noisy when we closed them when it rained on the weekend. It was so hot in the apartment we could not stay there in the day even if we opened the front door and windows for ventilation. We ended up getting rail passes and visited many parts of Switzerland. What a beautiful country! We loved it! Another issue I had with the apartment was that there were only one set of light see-through curtains and this combined with the noise and heat just made sleep very difficult. That is why I have to give the overall rating 3 stars even though our trip was great and Andrea was very helpful!
Small, immaculate apartment, great location
Our host Andrea, met us in the morning to take us to the apartment and settle us in after arriving on a night flight from the USA. She took ample time showing us everything including how to make coffee! As the other reviews mention, the apartment is small but does accommodate three people if need be. Our college aged daughter was with us and we managed just fine but with a third person there is really not a lot of space to move about.
If looking at this apartment be sure to know which pictures coordinate with the description of the apartment you would like to rent as this listing has multiple apartments. It was a bit confusing. Also, it may prove beneficial to know it is a second story walk up.
It was extremely warm the week we were visiting and there is no air-conditioning in the apartment nor is there a fan. I believe it would be most helpful if the owner did provide a fan as the windows are all on one side with no cross ventilation possibilities. With the windows open (or even with them closed) the train noise just outside the windows is extremely loud. The train frequency did lessen in the late night, early morning hours but even the street noise is quite loud. In the wintertime with the windows closed, I believe the noise may be a bit more bearable. Neither of the other two reviews mentioned this so I thought it was important enough to mention as I would not have rented the apartment had I known.
Other than the noise factor and the warmth of the apartment due to the weather, the apartment was immaculate and had everything one may need for cooking, linens, etc.
The neighborhood is great! There are two grocery stores, an ATM, transportation to everywhere just a minute out the door, several great little shops and several cafe/bars near by. On our second night in town we had a delicious dinner while enjoying conversation with the owner of Osteria Centrale on Nordstrasse just a few steps away from the tram stop. Zurich-West is also a short walk and it was fun to explore that area of the city.
I would recommend this property in the colder weather due to the noise/no fan issue but I would bring earplugs! We enjoyed our trip immensely and Andrea made our booking very straight forward and easy.
Sweet apartment, perfect location!
We loved ataying in Andrea's apartment in the Wipkingen neighborhood of Zurich. Andrea was very reponsive and met us at the apt, showed us around, made us feel welcome. The apt has a very small kitchen, well supplied. For a couple the space is ample; we had 3 people and felt a little crampedespecially when the sofa bed was pulled out.
We were able to walk downtown, restaurants, shopping and to a wonderful big park nearby.. Zurich is a great city for urban hiking!
I would totally recommend this vacation rental, especially for a couple.
Nice location, easy transportation.
We had a great stay here. As the description states, this is a small apartment. We stayed with our two teenagers and I found it was a little too small for 4 people, but this was not a surprise as the description made that clear. I would have no reservation staying here with my wife, but I would not come with another couple or teenagers. it would be no problem with smaller children because they get out of bed early. If we could fold away the bed and have more room in the morning it would have been fine, but teenagers sleep later than kids so I would have to fold the bed up with them in it!
Everything was as described. We arrived on a Swiss holiday but had no trouble making arrangements to meet the owner's assistant on our arrival. Thanks for a great time in your city.
Thank you for your wonderful feedback. We are very happy to read that you had a great time here in Zurich. Be our guest again soon!
