180 degree view of the lake and mountains! Full morning sun - southern exposure - 150 feet of sandy beaches. This cozy log home is located on Hayden Lake's most scenic bay in a private, secluded setting, near the site of the old Hayden Lake Schoolhouse. View the lake and mountains from every window in the house! Step out onto a large deck and eating area overlooking the lake. The 1600 square foot house has a full working kitchen, furnished with all you need to make this week memorable. It sleeps 6-10 comfortably; camping space is available on the property and there is a forest service campground 1/2 mile away. There are two separate bedrooms; one offers a queen bed and the other contains both a double and a single bed. You'll find a sofa bed and wood stove in the downstairs sitting room. There are three large window seats that convert to sleeping quarters upstairs.
Enjoy swimming, fishing, boating and sunshine from a private 40-foot dock and sandy beaches located on the property. Massages are available by making pre-booking arrangements with Janet Bernhardt (contact her to make an appointment with North Country Massage). See our website for a link to massage and hot stone aromatherapy.
Bring your play clothes, swimsuit and a good book - plan on a week just to kick back and RELAX!
Paddle Boat and Canoe on our private dock for your use.
This home was built by my grandfather in 1960. The actual property and 15 acres behind it were actually purchased by him in the 1940´s.
My father remodeled the home and we really want to keep it in the family and the keep the rich heritage for our own grandchildren. We had the idea that other´s may recognize and enjoy the natural beauty and peacefullness of our home. ..so we are sharing it by renting it out to our VRBO guests.
I bought this home from my dad in 2005. We all brainstormed as to how we would preserve this wonderful place and with the purchase of the property...decided to rent it out. We have many return guests. It is really a special spot in North Idaho. It makes me happy to share our special place.
Morning sun! Osprey´s flying overhead. Privacy. We have had some of our most favorite family times at this lake house. The house is set up so you can enjoy peace and quiet. ..time on the large deck. ..and still enjoy family games around the table.
There is room to hike, enjoy the sandy beach that is gradual enough to accomodate a small toddler for wadding or allow diving off the 40´ dock.
I have friends that work for fish and game...they tell me mine is their favorite dock for fishing on the lake. Fish pass right by our dock to feed in the back bay and we are right at the lake side where they enter and exit.
I love being able to watch the water activity at the dock from our deck.
Our family was looking for a long weekend getaway where we could disconnect from work, relax and create memories for our two children (ages 4 and 2). This cabin and location delivered with peace, quiet and lake amenities that exceeded our expectations. The cabin is homey in all the right ways, with a fully appointed kitchen, open concept and living room with two awesome leather chairs - perfect for morning coffee or relaxing at the end of a long day on the lake. Amenities at the lake include a secluded beach, with sand that our children loved and a paddle boat, canoe and kayak for exploring. One note of caution: Young children should always be accompanied on the path to the lake - it's rather steep and although there's a railing, a misstep could result in a fall. Diana (owner) was very accommodating and friendly, as were the neighbors. Overall, a wonderful experience - we'll consider coming back! Thank you Diana!
We had a great experience this weekend at the log house on Hayden Lake. We have 2 kids, ages 9 and 4, and they were more that happy. We were greeted by a plate of cookies on the counter when we arrived, and the lights were on for us. We loved going out on the paddleboat, and the kids enjoyed catching small bluegill right off the dock. The beds downstairs were very comfy. We did need a fire upstairs due to the colder weather, but it was easy to use, and very cozy. We also enjoyed the firepit out front and roasted some marshmallows. I will deffinitely come back!
After a lovely drive, we arrived just before sunset and we certainly were not disappointed with the beautiful view and cozy house! The deck is wonderful, and the view is perfect. We spent lots of time relaxing out there, drinking coffee and watching birds and squirrels with the binoculars and also the activities happening on the lake. Some kids and counselors from the camp across the way provided a very entertaining kayak race one morning. Also boaters stopped by the sandbar now and then to let their kids and/or dogs play. The kitchen was great and quite roomy. We found everything we needed and really enjoyed preparing all of our meals there all week. If you want to relax and decompress, you will completely enjoy your stay here. Some things to note: 1) because the home is perched up above the lake you get spectacular views, but this also means the short hike down to the beach and dock is steep, so older ones (me) and little ones should use caution. 2) it might be a stretch to sleep 10 people - totally depends on the circumstances. For two single people or a couple with one or two small kids, the bedrooms work just great. If you add an air mattress or two upstairs along with the window seats you could sleep a few more kids, or adults who don't care too much about a private room. Just something to keep in mind. 3) Many will not care about this at all, but the tv is tiny. Probably about the size of a standard computer monitor. It works just fine, but if you do plan to watch anything you may need to scoot up very close to the screen. There you have it, hope this is helpful. The place suited our needs perfectly and we would go back in a heartbeat!
Fantastic location right on the lake. We spent 4 days and very much enjoyed the canoe, kayak, paddle boat and fishing. Just across the lake was a sandbar with warm water to play in. Mokins Slough had lily pads blooming. The weather was perfect! We loved watching and listening to the birds (ospreys, loons, ducks, Canadian geese, stellar jays, blue birds and more) and squirrels. Grilling out on the deck was great.
The cabin was comfortable. The kitchen was functional. The downstairs bathroom had a new shower, but the door leaked and the bottom seal fell completely off during our stay. The owner was quick to address the issue with a temporary fix. One good thing was that we didn't feel like we had to worry too much about our kids ruining things. Messes cleaned easily, and the laundry made quick work of used towels.
The only concerns we had were about safety. The stairs down to the beach had solid railing but the deck in front of the boathouse didn't. And it had some rotted boards. For families with very young kids, this would be nerve-wracking.
As mentioned in a couple other reviews, there was a kind of damp "basement" smell downstairs. But with all the windows open it was fine.
Couple of disappointments:
-None of the games in the house were complete. There were cards or playing pieces missing (we made-do with mismatched playing pieces for a game of Sorry).
-None of the float toys in the boathouse held air.
-The seats in the canoe were ripped out (we used the old lifejackets as padding over the hole).
-There were compartments under the window seats in the living room that had musty dirty pillows and blankets. Probably should not have looked...
Overall, we had a great time and if we go to Hayden Lake again, we'll definitely stay here.
Pros: Views are amazing! Lake is beautiful! Neighbors are very nice and friendly! Owner was very responsive and professional. Nice stocked kitchen...and great big windows and deck! Nice canoe, kayak, and paddleboat to borrow. Comfy window seats in main room (I ended up sleeping on them). My kids LOVED every second of it! We saw lots of wildlife. Located across from a huge sandbar...perfect place to play with kids.
Cons: No master bedroom. Two rooms are both tiny and cinderblock in the basement. It smells and looks like a damp basement--not inviting. Bathroom smelled of mildew. Washing machine smelled. Luckily is is in sharp contrast with nice upstairs. I slept upstairs to avoid basement. But then it was hard to sleep-in because there were no blinds in main room. No comfortable chairs to lounge...only plastic dining chairs.
Our family enjoyed this place very much. We loved having our own private dock with all the water amenities for the kids.
There was never a bored moment. The access to the sandbar was great as we could be in the water playing catch and not worry about it being deep. The fishing kept the kids pretty entertained for hours as well. We will defiantly be back.
Easy access to both Triple Play Amusement park and Silverwood Theme Park.
