About Rick Nemes

Dick and Glenda Nemes, Owners of the Island Manor, hv owned the property since 1993 - a year after the home was built. While our home is not Pet-friendly for our Guests, we will always have a Westie with us. Our family has enjoyed the beauty and serenity of Edisto Beach for over 20 years and we are pleased to share with our Guests our very comfortable Southern style beach home.

Great beachfront property

Great house for large families. We had 6 adults and 5 children under six. Plenty of space so children could nap without being disturbed. Beautiful porches for morning and evening with seating for everyone. Well stocked with any appliance or cookware you may need. Washer and dryer convenient, especially helpful with small children. Would come back again for sure.

Great house!

The grill needs to be cleaned out more frequently and NOT chained to the house. We had to call the fire department our first day here because there was no fire extinguisher and the house almost caught fire. I wish they would have shipped us an extinguisher, but they did not. We ended up having a great time, but safety was definitely on our mind our entire trip.

Owner's Response: Wow, Shocked. The renters send us a glowing personal note about how great everything's was. We have an electric grill that was not cleaned by the former user as instructed. We provide 2 scrapers and instruct users to clean after their use. The reviewer turned the grill on and grease flamed. They needed to simply close the top and unplug. They called the fire department which was certainly OK. We spoke and handled the situation as deemed appropriate. We had a fire extinguisher that did not work, unknown to us. It was under the kitchen sink. We replaced the fire extinguisher and put it a place we think is more obvious(halfway between the grill and stove/oven. The comment about shipping a fire extinguisher is quite odd as told them that we would replace it 4 days later when we inspect, since they stated they would not be using the grill. When we arrived, we simply wiped the excess grease from the 3 month new electric grill and then closed the top and proceeded to burn off the residue. There was never any great risk, malfunctioning and dangerous grill. Had there been we would have taken care of the problem differently. In the 24 years of providing a grill for our home, fire dept. has been called once. We do not provide charcoal/gas because we feel it is unsafe, have put grill on the concrete below the house but renters constantly moved it to the 1st floor decks. Renters have burned deck furniture, boards, walls, smoked up ceilings, made huge grease stains from people using open fire grills. We chained the grill to kitchen deck because renters were dragging it through the house to the windy oceanfront deck--now that will burn the house down. We would prefer to prohibit use on our windy oceanfront property However, renters want grills. So there was NO lack of responsiveness, NO lack of thought/provision of the safest situation, NO emergency that warranted immediately driving down and bringing/shipping a new fireextinguisher especially based on reviewer stating she was not going to use the grill at all. If you don't feel we acted responsibly about renter safety and our million dollar home, then best to chose another house, one managed by a third party instead of a caring owner...... it is not in your or our interest to provide a dangerous situation for you. We just paid thousands, personally with not one penny of insurance help to renovate after the hurricane. Why would be want you or us to have a bad experience because of 'neglect' as implied.

Great location!

We had a wonderful stay. The house is right on the beach and has beautiful ocean views. Loved opening the sliding glass doors to listen to the waves. The kitchen was fully stocked with dishes, pots, pans etc. There were lots of books, puzzles and games to keep everyone occupied. Edisto Beach is about an hour from Charleston and is secluded, perfect for anyone who wants a true beach vacation. We visited Charleston a couple of times and also toured Boone Hall Plantation. The low country is a beautiful area. Can't wait to come back!

House beautiful. Well stocked. Truely oceanfront, beach is right off the deck.

Comfortable beds. Well stocked kitchen. Great location, easy walk to several restaurants and gro. store. All showers had water saver heads which were okay except in one shower which only provided a mist. Highly recommended this house!

Awesome home! It has everything!

This is one of the best places we have ever stayed! Five of us senior ladies stayed here for four nights for our annual Cousin's retreat and it was the best retreat yet! It was like being at home (but with a professional decorator😊). Everything about this home was just what we needed, from great decor, super clean rooms, comfortable beds, great location right on the beach, bedrooms with sliding doors facing the beach and everything we could possibly have needed. Honestly the kitchen is equipped to cook and serve for forty or more! It's close enough to Charleston for shopping, sightseeing and dining, but far enough away to be away from traffic and crowds. The owners were great to work with and checked on us by email several times. The location is quiet, not a party atmosphere so it's great for famlies. This definitely is a place I will visit again (I'd actually love to live there!) Thank you for providing such an inviting, comfortable place!

Nice place for a quiet beach get away

This is a really nice property on Edisto, right on the beach with great views from almost all rooms. Several nearby houses had damage from hurricane Matthew, but this house was still in good shape. Lots of beach restoration was going on but Edisto has things are in good condition around this area. The owner is very responsive and helpful if you have questions. Couple of good restaurants in walking distance. Big shout out for the Sea Cow Eatery just a block away. Best green beans I have had in years. We ate there twice for breakfast and twice for dinner during the week. Kitchen was fairly well stocked, but could use a better non stick skillet and new can opener. Really a minor inconvenience for all of the positives of staying here. Overall, I highly recommend this property.

Tax Rate 12.0%

$500 fully refundable Security Deposit is requested of all renters. Providing our home is left in good condition and there is no damage, I generally refund the Security Deposit the next day after your departure.

Depending upon how far out you reserve, Payment Terms can be broken down into 4 Payments spread over the time from date of reservation to 30 days before check-in.
