Perfect personal home for 1 or a group of 11. Close to restaurants, the lake itself, the towns of Grove, Bernice and Vinita... and other amenities. Each of the 3 bedrooms has a queen bed and there are 2 double and 1 single foldouts for children in the living and dining areas. The home overlooks Grand Lake from a private, deep cove. There are 2 full baths, a fully equipped laundry room, a large family room (with TV, DVD, CD, Satellite Radio, stereo and bar), living and dining area, wood burning fireplace, fully equipped kitchen, covered carport and parking areas, sectioned heat and AC. Private and secure WiFi is available for all guests. One covered patio and a large attached wood deck with lots of chairs and tables are there for your comfort. Because you may enjoy cigars and cigarettes, smoking is allowed on the patios and the walk dock, but (please) not in the home. A public slip is within walking distance of the home for boats with a private 10'x10' dock located beside the slip. There are umbrella tables, chairs and smoking is allowed there. The whole place and the walk dock is perfect for relaxing, recreation, swimming, fishing and watching the moon. We are pet friendly (you know much more about your pets than we do).

About Bill and/or Judy Hess
We love to travel, are retired and have several homes. We have been married for over 45 years and live in Wichita, Kansas.
Bill and/or Judy Hess purchased this House in 1980
Why Bill and/or Judy Hess chose Afton
We've been going to Grand Lake for over 50 years and have owned property since the 1980s. It's a little over three hours from where we live in Wichita, Kansas... near enough to get back if one must, but far enough not to go back for sunglasses.
What makes this House unique
The home is perfect for one or eleven and is near amenities. Amenities on the island, in the local town of Grove, emergency numbers, restaurant and pub numbers and "things to do" are listed on a sheet when you get there.

Roomy and comfy for our two families!
Perfect set up for our family! Mom, Dad and our grand daughter had the newer part of the house while we slept in the other two bedrooms. Didn't hear the baby cry at all during the night. Loved the big family rooms! Thanks for a comfy setting for our Thanksgiving visit with family in the area!
It was very relaxing
The home was very comfortable
Great place to stay!
We really enjoyed staying at the house. We enjoyed the deck and the covered porch when it rained. The house was nice and clean. It has a large second living area with several windows for a great view. I would recommend the house.
Great lake home
We had a great time at this lake home. Loved the deck area & the short walk to the dock. We have already shared the VRBO# with multiple friends who are planning to book their stay. Thanks for having us!
Beautiful home with a large yard to run and play.
We had a great time and this home fit our needs perfectly. Six adults and 5 grandchildren. I'm sure we'll be back!
Excellent family property
Great family home. Spent Christmas holiday with my family and loved it. Very quiet neighborhood, beautiful setting. House is loaded with card/board games and fireplace was a very nice surprise.
Internet is via cellular which is weak so don’t plan lots of surfing. It is adequate for basic browsing but streaming is difficult. We were able to stream some but device had to be in specific spot. Overall, the internet is a minor item that won’t impact a family vacation but a working vacation may be difficult.
Host was great, responded to phone calls very quickly, house was incredibly clean, and house felt very homey with lots of lived in extras. Definitely recommend!
The house is on "Monkey Island" located in the heart of Grand Lake O' the Cherokees in the northeast corner of Oklahoma. Crystal Bridges is within one hour in Arkansas for those who want to investigate a world renowned art museum. Bentonville, Arkansas is the home to the Walton (Sam's Club) family, Eureka Springs, Arkansas is a small, turn of the century town and very interesting. Art museums, architecture and history abound in Tulsa, Oklahoma City and Bartlesville.
