The holiday house is part of an old renovated farmhouse with a beautiful entrance gate leading to the inner cortyuart. The house is constructed with typical grey normannic stones, outside and inside, and Climatis and climbing hortensias grow along the outside walls. The character of the house is rustic, spacy and simple (washing machine, no television),downstairs enormous one piece kitchen, living and dining room area, from the kitchen one enters a terace with garden furniture overlooking a huge garden (1000 square m) full of flowers (house and garden style), the living has a huge old fireplace. Downstairs there is also a very simple bath room.Through a wooden staircase one enters the first floor with a mezzanine with a bedcouch, then there are 3 bedrooms with a kingsize bed in it and another bathroom with a bathtub, toilette, BD and sink. Each bedroom has a beautiful view onto the garden. If you look for simple relaxed country life, you will like it here.
I spent one week in the beautiful house in st. Pierre Eglise and enjoyed every minute of it! The house is very spacous in the old Norman style and the garden is amazing. Very big and quiet with plenty of beautiful flowers and with a great view to the old church tower. The area is the old peaceful countryside of Normandy ideal for biking or walking around. Especially Barfleur only 10 kilometers away is worth a visit. I would recommend this place for everybody who is looking for a quiet and peaceful holiday in the French countryside.
St. Piere Eglise is a typical normannic village (1780 inhabitants) 1 mile away from the North sea in Basse Normandy near Cherbourg and Barfleur.Cherbourg has car ferries going to Portsmouth and Pool in the UK. St. Pierre Eglise has several shops, an old church and a typically normannic castle. If you look for wild and untouched beaches and landscape this is the place to go.There are many beaches to choose from, landscape is very hilly and due to a very mild and fertile climate there are green meadows full of cows and sheep and even palm trees everywhere.
There are nice restaurants, a weekly market in St. Pierre with delicous local products like Calvados, Camembert and fantastic fruit and vegetables from the farms nearby. Places to visit are Cherbourg, many little villages in the Cotentin/Manche. Daytrips to historical places with Museums and Memorials like Utah Beach, Ohama beach etc offer an impressive insight into the allied invasion of German occupied France in 1944.
