Location: The Baltic Sea is surrounded by rolling fields of cooling, extensive meadows and woods, at the Mecklenburg Bay. Intermediate cooling Born-West (formerly Arendsee) the glamorous part of town and Kühlungsborn East (formerly Brunshaupten), the busy part of town is the much-used, 130-acre urban forest.
On both sides of the redesigned car-free Baltic Square attracts a total of 5 km long, enormously broad and well-groomed, white sand beach. Alternating rest areas with loosely placed beach chairs and active zones with a variety of sports and games are dominant.
History: The city is since the first April 1938 after the merger of the villages located Ahrendsee, Brunshaupten and Fulgen, in reference to the south of the city, up to 130 m high moraine, called cooling, the new city name Kühlungsborn. In the years 1880-1914 the still existing structure of the resort was coined, the resort architecture known as the style can be found throughout the city. Many lovingly restored hotels, inns and villas date from this time and decorate Kühlungsborn and just over 3 km long beach promenade. Was bathed here before the imperial period, there arose a men's and a women's bathhouse on the beach. Only later a family was built between the two. The first spa brochure was published here in 1877.
