Beautifully restored Podere Consani enjoys stunning panoramic views. Sleeps 6
Beautifully restored Podere Consani lies in an idyllic setting amongst well-tended natural gardens,(lavender, roses, lemons and herbs) that lead into the adjacent olive groves, vineyard & woodland, in the hills between Lucca and the coast. The house shares a swimming pool with the one other cottage and the English-speaking owners who live in the main house. The owners take great care to ensure guests are happy during their stay whilst respecting their privacy. They produce their own wine and olive oil. Nature-lovers,painters and walkers alike cannot fail to enjoy the wonderful surroundings and lovely views and although Podere Consani is set in this oasis of peace, it is however only 15 minutes before the majestic walls of Lucca come into sight.
Within a few minutes walk is the Podere Consani stud where it is possible for children to ride the lovely pony 'Chocolate'.
Recently restored, the house has all modern conveniences whilst maintaining its original Tuscan style and charm.
It is possible to have cooking lessons or have a meal cooked for you.

What an absolute wonderful relaxing 7 days in fresh air and peace
We travelled as 2 couples, had the best time relaxing at our villa, cooking for ourselves, eating alfresco, enjoying a good red wine. All 3 bedrooms have their own ensuite, kitchen, dining, open fire in lounge, laundry, pool, outdoor eating and beautiful views. Our wonderful host, Susan, whom speaks perfect English and Italian, was on hand with good day trip advice and local knowledge without ever being intrusive. We loved to wave to her family, watch the equestrian school, pick some grapes, witness the men shaking the olives from the trees, relax on the property and enjoyed the company of the family's 2 beautiful Labrador dogs. The smaller villa was vacant when we were there. A car is a must to access the property and to grocery shop at the local town not far away. Lucca is not far away and a great walled city to enjoy. Thanks again Susan, we thoroughly loved our week xxxx
Well I must congratulate you for such a speedy review - you must have written it as you were leaving!!!
Many thanks - it was lovely having you all - enjoy the rest of your time in Italy and safe journey back to Australia. Having guests from all around the world enriches our lives too!
Susan and all at Podere Consani. X
A dream vacation - an amazing property - and wonderful owners
Our stay exceeded all expectations! My wife, 2 young girls, parents, and I enjoyed a week here at the end of August. The property is gorgeous and more beautiful than the pictures do it justice. The mountain views, the natural surroundings (flowers, rolling lawn, olive trees, grapevines), the beautiful old stone structures - altogether they make for as scenic and serene an atmosphere as could be asked for. The pool was sparkling clean (and kept clean throughout our stay). The homes had everything we could desire - also tidy and comfortable. Susan and her family were perfect hosts - they were attentive and available when we needed them, but we also had a feeling of privacy. Susan gave us all the instruction we needed to find local attractions, and even had a cycling map from a prior visitor (*incredible* cycling in Tuscany). We'll savour our memories here for a lifetime and hope to visit you again Susan. Best to your wonderful family!
Thank you SO much for writing such a lovely review. It was wonderful having you all as guests and as the days went by so quickly we really hope you will return to explore more of the surrounding area and its secrets. Best wishes to all the family. Susan
A haven of peace and tranquility full of Tuscan charm
If you are looking to escape to a different world of peace and tranquility then you will find it at Podere Consani. We have just spent a wonderful week staying in Casa Cherubim and enjoyed it's rustic charm.
Susan and family made us feel very welcome and gave us several tips on places to visit. The 2km drive up to the house and the roads around the surrounding hills were quite a challenge but the views are worth it.
On our first evening Susan arranged for us to have a meal prepared for us. Their cook served us a delicious six course dinner sitting outside in the garden.
The location is ideal for exploring Lucca from where you can reach Pisa and Florence by train.
Fantastico podere sulle colline lucchesi
Susan
A small piece of paradise!
An amazing place. Susan is a wonderful hostess, making sure you have everything you could possibly need. She gives excellent advice on where the best places are to visit. I have to say that you feel so relaxed and comfortable, you don't feel the urge to go off site!!
The properties are beautiful and well maintained with everything you need.
The supermarket is just down the hill, with an excellent supply of fresh food.
I would certainly recommend this property to a friend or relative.
Thanks Sandra. I'm glad you all enjoyed it so much and that you found the tips useful. I have been lucky in finding special places to visit that the average visitor would not know about and it gives me pleasure to pass these extra bits of information on to others - they can make a holiday extra special.
Come back soon!
Second time around
We (myself, my husband, our 8 year old son and dog) are like cats who will alsways find our way back to Podere Consani!!! May 2015 was our second time at there, we stayed again for 2 weeks, but this time in La Cappana (which I think means Bell - there is an old church up the hill of which the bell rings in the evening - a walk up there is a must - a small little taverna sits right opposite the church) Susan and her family welcomed us, as the previous time, with warmth and kindness. As always, they were there, but never were, neither our privacy nor our relaxation time ever intruded. The pictures of La Capanna on the website is every bit and more of what it has to offer. The two big bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms are down stairs and the kitchen with living room and dining area are upstairs. Staying in this beautiful stone house, with the pool right our your doorstep, rather feels more like home than a rental. I loved preparing the food in the kitchen with its huge windown overlooking the olive groves and the valley...made it hard to stay out of the kitchen!!! Once a week at the local super market in San Marino in Freddana, fresh fish from the ocean are sold. Preparing that on the outside grill (BBQ) on the terrace, with a good glass of Tuscan wine, the peace and quiteness of the surroundings, you would wish that This never ends!!!! Everyone of us had a good time and was happy, even our dog, who had Napo and Puma to play with, the family's two labradors. We have already booked again for May 2016!!! It is something about the people and the place, it just feels
Its great welcoming back friends - we much look forward to seeing you in a few months. Sue
Podere Consani is situated on a plateau in the lovely hills between the magnificent old town of Lucca and the coast. It has wonderful views overlooking the surrounding countryside - to the south-east towards Lucca and the more distant plain to Florence -to the north the stunning marble mountains and the Garfagnana with its picturesque hill-top towns & to the west the sea.The nearest beaches are at Viareggio (30min) and further up the coast are the beautiful sea-side towns of Lerici and Portovenere and the fishing villages of the Cinque Terra. In fact it lies in a very strategic position - only 20min from beautiful historic Lucca, surrounded by the magnificent walls on which one can walk or bike, 45min from Pisa airport and other historical cities such as Florence, Siena and S.Gimigniano are within easy reach. S.Martino (4km) has restaurants, a supermarket, banks, chemist etc..There is lots to see and do - that is if you can bear to tear yourself away from the beauty of Podere Consani.
