2 bedroom, 1 bath hillside home with a northern view of the Aurora Borealis!
Why Gus Bystedt chose Fairbanks
We have owned this beautiful log home next to ours for many years in this hillside neighborhood. Having just completed refreshing the interior and exterior we offer this house for you to enjoy real Alaskan living. This is a beautifully decorated house which makes you feel right at home. The Chena Ridge area is beautiful all seasons of the year. You will feel very secluded and away from the town yet its only 10 minutes to all of the activities Fairbanks has to offer.
What makes this House unique
This house is so easy to relax in and enjoy your time. We have included everything expected to make you comfortable during your stay and a few extras. You can take a safe walk in the small neighborhood. Our hillside trail is a short walk for exercise and Aurora viewing and you can be back to the house in a jiffy or take it easy on any of the three decks.

Many Thoughtful Details
There were so many little touches that were done that made us feel welcome and at home. The main room is welcoming and spaceous enough for making dinner and playing games. The arctic entry is perfect for taking care of all of our gear so we didn't have to bring it into the house. I appreciated all of the hanging photographs and books about Alaska. Thanks for providing such a great place to enjoy Alaska.
STOP LOOKING THIS IS THE BEST DEAL IN FAIRBANKS!
Gus and Gari were the perfect host for our group of three during a spur of the moment trip to Fairbanks to enjoy some snowboarding and other winter activities. You could not ask for a better location for a cabin (7 minutes from town) and with a sauna to boot at this price. We found the welcoming instructions to be dead simple and thorough, with small details such as S'more making essentials and courtesy wine provided. The cabin was found to be immaculately clean with plenty of spare linens and towels, but not so much that it felt like staying in a museum. Gus was extremely friendly and offered us his expansive knowledge of the area and even taught us some the fundamentals of snowmobiles. As a person who is relatively reserved, he always seemed conscious of not wanting to impose to much on our trip. During our stay the temperature got down below -15F, but you would never know it as the house is superbly heated (did I mention the wood fired sauna?).
TL:DR If you are looking for a quiet place where you can stretch your legs and be comfortable, while also being near enough to town to not waste time making grocery runs, This is the spot!
Thank you, we are so happy that you enjoyed your stay in our little cabin in the woods!
Beautiful, cozy, house/cabin for spectacular getaway!
We loved everything about this place. Our perfect stay was capped with the Northern Lights viewing from the deck on the last night. Thanks Gari for the call! The hosts are awesome and have thought of everything. Well stocked with wood and everything you need for a memorable getaway!
We are glad you had an opportunity to see the northern lights! It was nice to see you outside enjoying the fire pit!
Great. Well appointed and stocked.
Really liked it. We would stay here again.
My wife and I stayed here and really liked it. It is conveniently located near Fairbanks but feels private. We would stay here again next time we visit Fairbanks.
Thank you, we will look forward to it!
Perfect place to stay in Fairbanks
I wanted to treat myself with something special for a few days during my trip through Alaska, and stayed in Gus' and Gari's log cabin for 3 nights - and what a treat it was indeed!
In reality, this is not a cabin, this is a ready-to-move-in house - very clean, very well maintained, with lots of space and all the amenities you'd be looking for (but don't necessarily find): high capacity washing machine and tumbler, a well equipped kitchen with even a dish washer, bikes, an outside deck, a sauna, 2 TVs with Netflix, and best of all: a gas-powered fireplace in the living room, complemented by a comfy couch and arm chairs. What a great place to relax!
On top of that, the location is very quiet and with full privacy, and yet only a few minutes drive to all the restaurants, shops, parks and other features of Fairbanks. The owners Gari and Gus have been excellent & kind hosts, very responsive on questions and happy to offer recommendations, and I greatly enjoyed chatting with both of them.
Again, this is an amazing place to stay when visiting Fairbanks, and I will definitely be back next time I'm in the area!
