About Chris Brooks
I took a year off work in 2014 to buy a boat and sail it across the world. Now that I am back at work in Chicago and my catamaran is safe and sound in Tortola I am sharing it with you to offset my operating expenses! If you are considering chartering a catamaran in the Caribbean, look no further - you will not see a better quality boat in a better location for this great price!

the perfect family vacation
I have sailed in the BVI 4 other times sometimes with me at the helm and on two trips with a crew. This was by far the best and lived up to the great reviews others have left. The boat was immaculate and the crew were exceptional. My 12 and 14 year old grand sons had the time of their life and talk about the adventure all the time. Thanks Bram and Tess for being such great hosts and Chris, you were spot on with each detail.
Our trip on Catmer was absolutely first class.
My wife & I were to celebrating our anniversary, & we decided to charter in BVI. We are boaters, but didn’t want to deal with a barefoot boat. After research, we decided on Catmer. Initially we had things to see based on research, but we refrained from giving these requests, because they are the local professionals. The first day proved this to be the right choice. Bram & Tess, know the area very well & do an incredible job laying out their guests an ideal trip.
Catmer: Catmer is beautiful, and well maintained. She shows more like a private vessel vs. charter. Everything works, is clean, etc.
Food: Coming from the Houston area and traveling quite a bit, we’ve had some good food. We assumed the food will be good, but how much can really be done on a boat? Wow, were we wrong. I can honestly say that Tess created at least 5 of the best 10 meals I have had in my life. Every morning we started with a feast, the lunches were generous portions, with excellent flavor, & dinners made me eat beyond being sick. Just awesome.
Activities: There are a bunch of things to do during this charter. We loved snorkeling at the Indian Islands, caves, many reefs, & beaches. We had a great mix of feeling like we owned the entire island because we were the only people on a beach, to hanging at one of the bars on Jost Van Dyke, playing corn hole, volley ball, enjoying the surf, & watching a playoff game. The Baths is cool, & I am glad we missed the cruise boat traffic thanks to Bram’s scheduling. We happened to be in BVI for a full moon, so we checked out the moon party. That was fun.
Crew: Bram & Tess have a cool story. You get a solid beginning of their story from the initial charter information, & I think it makes for a better trip to let future guests discover their history on the charter. That said, my wife & I loved our time with them. Bram & Tess gave us space to have romantic dinners, made reservations when not eating aboard, set up the right times to see all the sights, & basically lined up the perfect trip. They always made sure to drop us on the correct end of snorkeling so the current helped us back to the boat. Bram was there with a witty joke which added to the fun. They both seem to truly enjoy each other, and that healthy relationship is so important for a trip like this. My wife & I are very happy in general, & their love for each other made our trip that much better.
In summary, we can’t wait to go back!!!
Thanks so much for taking the time to reflect on your trip Joe! We were all so thrilled to see how great a time you and your wife had on board Catmer. I hope we will get to welcome you aboard again soon!
Try it you’ll LOVE it!!
We have done many charters and bare boats over the years and we definitely ageee that Bran was the best sailor of all! We really sailed ( no motor) in our 7 days with Bram and Tess more than we ever have. Bram is so experienced you feel very comfortable and you can tell he clearly enjoys sailing. Tess is a great chef, every meal was a treat! Fantastic couple, great boat, fun week!!!
Thank you so much for chartering with us Debi, it was a pleasure having you and your family aboard and we hope to sail with you again soon!!
Incredible Trip, Exceeded Expectations!
For the past 15 years, my husband has heard me repeatedly describe my bucket list trip of traveling the Caribbean by boat, exploring island to island with no real plans or itinerary. After hearing this fantasy for what probably seemed like the thousandth time, he made the dream a reality, responding simply with just two words: BOOK IT! I narrowed down my trip to several boats, then called Chris (owner) with some questions. He was great....very informative and knowledgeable and seemed to be offering exactly what we wanted. So glad we chose Cat Mer! It was the trip of a lifetime sailing through the Virgin Islands with our captain, Bram, and his fiancé (and amazing cook!), Tess. Starting in St. Thomas, we sailed to St. John, Sandy Cay, Jost Van Dyke, Anegada, Virgin Gorda, Cooper Island, Peter Island, Norman Island, and Tortola. We visited private islands to snorkel with sea turtles and stingrays, swam and hiked with no one in sight, drank our weight in “pain killers”, visited the spot of the infamous Corona commercial, hung at a secluded eco resort complete with its own brewery, explored an island on scooter, played “shut the box” with our new friends, enjoyed 2 enormous Anegada lobsters by candlelight, paddle boarded at sunrise, went deep sea fishing (and caught a fish getting eaten by a shark as we reeled it in!), watched movies under the stars, learned some sailing basics, and had some of the most amazing meals of our lives. So grateful we had the opportunity to go and experience my dream vacation. Life is short....Take the trip! You won't regret it!
Marissa, thank you so much for this personal and descriptive review! Reading it makes me wish I was down there today enjoying some of that Anegada lobster! We are very grateful that you chose Catmer, Bram and Tess for your vacation and we would love to welcome you aboard again sometime either in the Virgin Islands or one of our other destinations. Hope to hear from you again someday!
Sincerely, B, T, &C.
This is the real deal.
Believe the hype!
