BILL, WHAT A GREAT HOUSE YOU AND YOUR ASSOCIATES HAVE. THE VIEWS ARE SPECTACULAR, THE POOL WAS WONDERFUL. HOPE YOU WILL LET US COME BACK.THANKS AGAIN
This is our second time in 6 years at this beautiful house and it is still great. Very well maintained. Very tranquil and serene. The house is huge with 2 wings basically and has a pool table and bar. Plus a really nice pool and deck area. Driveway quite steep - having access to a car is probably best as it is a bit of a walk as well to town. Thank you to Mary who looked after everything for us while there and was very flexible and easy to deal with. Wi fi needs attention though.
Colin C's review sums it up very well. IMO pros: view, large house, nice layout, great beds. Cons: sun on the pool only 1/2 hour per day; cannot lay in the sun by the pool, pool not heated (ocean is warmer), total house needs updating, thorough cleaning & TLC. Hot water didn't work most of the time. I don't mind paying higher prices but if I'm charged Hilton prices I expect Hilton amenities. Far better value to be gotten in nearby rental homes.
Probably a once a showpiece, Casa Blanca sadly slips into the category of “yesterday’s news”. To say this Casa is tired is an understatement.
Perched prominently on a hill top overlooking the town and beach of Lo De Marcos, it is ideally positioned to brandish the quintessence of why it was built – great views, quiet and private, away from the town but only a 5 min walk away, a good pool and welcoming hot tub, spacious and open living area and kitchen. The sad fact however is that the owners have clearly not invested ANYTHING into this in a long time, if at all.
From the simple but o so irritating –“ non-stick” pans that everything sticks to, cheap and hazardously dull and mis-matched knives with no sharpening device, a gas stove with a broken ignitor, an almond coloured microwave from the 70s’ now likely banned in 47 countries, a rusted out BBQ of similar vintage with porous and crumbling burners, a gas fired hot water heater that never worked for more than 12 hrs in succession requiring 27 re-lights ( by me ) over a 13 day period. A leaky hot tub with loose, missing and disconnecting tiles that had to be topped off with the hose 6 times (again by me). No dish washer. Dribbly showers contained by old plastic curtains with corroded hooks on a rusty bar. Feeble at best water pressure, a major electrical malfunction with two-thirds of the power gone for one full day. Sadly, the list goes on….
And the WIFI !! – with the transponder installed and operating (for some reason) from the caretakers casita some 100 yards away, you might have more luck sending a smoke signal. If you’re lucky, you will be able to access the internet but forget about streaming, downloading , uploading, Skyping …. anything. Even the crappiest restaurants in neighboring towns are far better places for this.
This place needs an infusion of capital and TLC….not on major structural issues but rather on modernizing and updating the basics. It is simply not good enough to be renting this out hoping that the location and view will carry the day.
Once again we chose Casa Blanca for our rental home in Mexico. Stayed for 10 nights. Weather was actually cool making the fishing poor. Still didn't affect the fun we had. Bill and Mary were there to help as always, even though Bill was under the weather. The area is still one of our go to places in Mexico. The house is more than accommodating for our needs. Spa was hot and pool was cool. Beach is beautiful and water was inviting for all ages. Walks in the morning ending in Lo De Marcos for local fresh juice and then breakfast. Once again a good time was had by all. We shall return.
As we had enjoyed ourselves so much last year at Casa Blanca and Lo de Marcos, we came back again this year and have already booked next year's stay. Casa Blanca has everything we need for a very relaxing, stress-free vacation - exceptional 360 degree views, a lovely pool and spa, lots of room for 2 families of 4 each, a well-stocked kitchen, easy walking access to a beautiful, quiet beach and town for groceries, beer and delicious tacos, and Bill and Mary - a fun and very accommodating couple who do a great job managing the property and providing interesting local lore and useful information. We feel very lucky to have discovered this oasis and everyone in our group, including our kids aged 11-16, had a blast.
Thanks Bill and Mary and see you next year!!
Casa Blanca looks beautiful in the pictures -- and it is even more beautiful to stay there.
Our group of 6 from the US spent 4 luxurious nights at this property, managed by Bill and Mary who live nearby and provide very helpful tips to the inquiring visitor. The beds were comfortable, evenings in the hot tub were outstanding, and this location in Lo de Marcos provided a great central spot for visiting surrounding villages. We visited the towns and beaches at Los Ayala, Sayulita and Punta de Mita, and by the end of our stay all 6 of us concluded that Lo de Marcos is the most authentic little town and our view and accommodations were the nicest we had seen in the entire region. There is a much more expensive villa located inland, but our beach view and walking proximity to the beach trumped even that hacienda.
The quiet and beautiful beach at Lo de Marcos is the most beautiful we visited. Or morning walks there, and swims on occasion, were delightful.
Our thanks go to Bill and Mary for hosting a lovely stay. We heartily recommend Casa Blanca to others!
