Welcome to Parks Pond Cottage on beautiful, clean Parks Pond in Clifton, Maine at the base of Parks Pond Bluff. Here on this quiet lake you will find clear water for swimming and fishing, clear skies for star gazing, and nearby hiking and golfing.
An international airport (Bangor, Maine) is only 30 minutes away and Acadia National Park is a mere 45 minutes away. Gourmet dining, shopping (including an LL Bean Outlet), theater and Folk Festival, malls, movies, microbreweries are all less than a half hour away. We are certain, however, that you will want to spend the majority of your time here on Parks Pond listening to the cries of the loons, relaxing in the crisp, clean waters, and enjoying the breathtaking views.

Bob and Rosemary Russell purchased this Cottage in 2005
Why Bob and Rosemary Russell chose Clifton
We bought Loon Lodge from our neighbors in 2005 because we knew what kind of a home it was and how it had been taken care of over the years.

Enjoyed our stay!
This was a great place for a relaxing getaway for me and my husband. The view of the lake was beautiful. This cottage was very clean, a great bathroom and firm bed. We loved the open concept and sun porch, and enjoyed the use of the kayaks, too. We had beautiful weather but this would be a great place to stay even if it had rained. We didn't use the gas fireplace, but that's a nice feature, too.
We hope to be back next year. Loved it!
We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay! It was our pleasure to accommodate you. Yes, please come back soon!

Outstanding camp on a peaceful pond
My family of 4 (2 adults and 2 teens) rented this camp for a week. We are from Maine and wanted a chance to live at a camp (which is what Mainers call a lake house) that was within driving distance of Bangor so we could continue working but still enjoy summer. This camp was ideal.
First of all, the space is perfect- cozy yet ample enough for four people and occasional guests. The diagonally-set kitchen gives enough space to prepare meals and also host a few friends and their kids for supper. The kitchen has everything you could ask for in a rental property, including a knife sharpener. Our family used all the spaces- the teens lounged inside and out, and the adults worked remotely on the glassed-in porch. At night, we used their collection of books, movies and games. Twice we used the firepit for s'mores. The beds were comfortable and we slept well.
In terms of Maine summer activities, we kayaked, swam and hiked daily, with my favorite being the quick hike to the cliffs above and behind the camp itself. Someone had to be in Bangor every day, but the drive is not bad and the grocery store at the corner of Rt 1 and 46 is fairly complete, if a little pricey. If you wanted to go to Acadia, my guess is that it would be an hour away.
I would recommend this property again- and I hope we can find a way to come back too!
Laura and family,
Thank you for the lovely review of our property. We so enjoy families next door! We are so happy that you enjoyed your stay and hope to see you again!

Amazing place to stay, we return every year
My family has enjoyed this cabin for three years now and it is amazing every time. The owners are pleasant and a joy to work with. The cabin itself is beautiful and waking up to look out over the pond every morning is breath taking. The many amenities they provide for you are outstanding. It is peaceful, until you throw my two teenagers in it, and a quick jump from Bangor, Brewer, or even Bar Harbor. A definite must stay if you are venturing that way.
We stayed at the Loon lodge last year, for the first time. The camp is beautiful, clean, and we'll maintained. It is located close enough to enjoy the sights of Maine, but tucked away for a quiet getaway. The owners are kind, and very helpful. We loved our stay do much that we've chosen to extend our stay this year.
Perfect Getaway at Parks Pond
I stayed at Loon Lodge for a week at the end of September/early October 2010. The owners were extremely friendly and helpful, providing a good tour of the cottage and its features. The cottage was immaculate, well appointed, and had everything needed for my stay. Plenty of dishes, glassware, flatware, kitchen utensils, pots, pans, towels and wash cloths. Appliances were in good condition and working order. The bathroom had ample towels and face cloths. At that time of year the weather could be warm and sunny or blustery and chilly. There was good cross ventilation with open windows on the warm days, and for the chilly nights I sat in front of the cozy gas fireplace which heated the whole living/dining/kitchen area nicely. I used the furnace only once during my visit on a particulary chill morning. The cottage is close to the owner's house and another cottage, but there is still plenty of privacy provided by deciduous and evergreen trees and shrubs. Floor-to-ceiling windows facing the pond offer a wonderful view of the water and the distant shore. Very few lights from the opposite cottages reflected on the pond at night. One night as I gazed at stars from the little dock a neighborhood beaver slapped its tail on the pond's surface several times. Warning me away? Several times during daylight hours as I swam in the cool water I spotted a beaver (the same one?) not far off shore. Loon Lodge is very convenient to the Parks Pond Bluff trail. Great view of the pond and surrounding area from the top of the Bluff. Other hiking trails nearby include Chick Hill and Lead Mt. Loon Lodge and Parks Pond are very convenient to coastal sightseeing and to shopping in Brewer and Bangor. It was a short jaunt for groceries, laundromat, antiquing, museums, and other activities. Also quite practical for trips to Bucksport, Fort Knox, the bridge observatory, Stonington, and Belfast. I was very, very happy with Loon Lodge's cleanliness, location, and overall condition. The owners obviously take pride in their properties!
There is so much to do from this location and everything is just a short distance away. Ellsworth/Bar Harbor Area Belfast/Camden Area and Bangor are all just a short drive along with everything they have to offer. Or perhaps you want to just relax by the lake with kayaking, swimming, bird watching or simply relaxing!
