About Sarah Ferrari
My name is Sarah Ferrari and I have been living in Italy for over 20 years. I found my love in Portofino....my husband Franco almost 15 years ago. I was so lucky to move to the beautiful area of La Spezia which offers so many alternatives for an outdoorsey like myself. My husband's family has owned this property since it was constructed in the 60's along with a few other properties in the area and I have been managing it for over 10 years and catering to mostly American and Australian clients.
Sarah Ferrari purchased this Apartment in 1965
What makes this Apartment unique
Portovenere is an amazing little village. If you are able to live like a local and just enjoy the great food, excellent wine and watch amazing sunsets you will go home with many memories that will last lifetime. Daily hikes ending in refreshing swims in the Med are also just amazing. I can also help you find some of the "off the beaten path" things to discover!

Beautiful location away from the main tourist traps of the Cinque Terre
We had a wonderful 5 days at Portovenere and once parked up we didn't need to use our hire car again until we departed as we were able to explore the area on foot or by public transport. The apartment is in a stunning location with beautiful views from the balcony across to Isola Palmaria. It met all our needs and we left thoroughly refreshed and invigorated.
A slice of heaven!
The place was as described. Very clean and comfortable. Centrally located and quiet - which we loved! The sweet smell of Jasmine filled the air and the views were mesmerizing. The addition of a private parking spot was a huge plus! Sarah was very accommodating and responsive. We had zero issues and would stay here again in a heart beat!
Great Location + Private Garage
Sarah was an easy host to work with. The location is great for all things Portovenere, the terrace is lovely and the private parking garage is a rare benefit in these parts. The property certainly could use updating but the same could be said for most properties in this area - it didn’t lack charm or comfort however. Would stay again and can easily recommend.
Stunning view of the perfect Portovenere
We wanted to visit Cinque Terre ... now we wonder why! Portovenere is SO much nicer, so very interesting with superb restaurants charging very reasonable prices. This apartment is lovely - the views from the balcony are just as the picture and even on a cold day it's the perfect place to sit with a coffee or glass of something. Sarah was a great host and her recommendations were spot on, we really enjoyed our stay here. We will return to Portovenere - unusual for us as there is so much of the world to see. Portovenere is a little piece of paradise and this property makes the perfect base.
Lovely Apartment with Gorgeous Views
The apartment is great it is located up a steep hill which means you have the most beautiful views from the balcony which definitely make the short uphill walk worthwhile.
The bed in the master bedroom is huge and very comfortable, this room also has a beautiful view over the bay. Everything was clean and the kitchen was well equipped although we didn't cook while we were there as there were plenty of lovely restaurants to visit.
We didn't meet the host but communication was excellent and check in was very easy, there was also lots of helpful information about the local area and retaurants in a folder in the apartment. Porto Venere was lovely and made an excellent base for visiting the Cinque Terre. The ferries are just a few minutes walk from the apartment and there are plenty of places to get aperitivo before dinner.
Sitting on the balcony in the mornings and evenings was exactly what I'd hoped for, beautiful and relaxing. One of the highlights of our stay was having dinner at Locanda Lorena on Palmaria, the Island that the apartments looks out on to. The restaurant send a water taxi to collect you and then bring you back at the end of the evening it's a lovely experience and the food and the service were excellent too.
I would definitely recommend this apartment as long as you can cope with a short steep hill and a few steps (I'm very unfit but it wasn't a problem for me) I would love to stay here again if I ever return to Porto Venere.
The view from the balcony and the living room is exquisite. The apartment is very comfortable. Sarah welcomed us warmly and helped with taxi arrangements. Kitchen is well stocked for those who like to cook, and Conad grocery just down the hill. The apartment is located in a very peaceful and quiet part of town. We had a wonderful stay.
Thank you so much for choosing my place above others and I really appreciate your wonderful review. I hope that you all will consider coming back in the future!
