Sleeps 5. A superb ground floor apartment (called a bungalow in Spain) in a secure electronic gated complex with secure parking on-site. The apartment is in immaculate condition and is fully furnished and fitted to a high standard. The property benefits from air con/heating in all rooms (metered) and has Satellite TV with a comprehensive package of TV/radio channels including BBC, ITV, Sports & Movies and various children's channels. The position overlooking the pool makes it ideal for families as you can enjoy a view of the pool from the patio area to the front. Shops and restaurants are a 5 min walk away and the award winning beaches of the Mar Menor are a 10 min walk.

Local attractions: Just a five minute walk away there are bars offering a good selection of local tapas and traditional Spanish food with also a variety of international cuisine including Italian, Chinese, Thai, English, Indian and many more , a variety of local shops a large supermarket, hairdressers, newspapers etc . A local market is held each Tuesday selling locally produced goods and most importantly the bodega the local wine cellar with a superb selection of wines from 50c a bottle to the finest vintage all sold with friendly expert advice and free samples!!
The local beach on the shores of the Mar Menor is approx a 10 minute walk away. With a promenade running along side for several miles to enjoy a stroll or bike ride along the gentle shores. The beach is particularly suitable for children as it has no large waves and is very gently sloped meaning shallow waters safe for toddlers to play in.
There are beach bars and restaurants along the length with toilet facilities and lifeguards.
Further afield: Calblanque is a national park is a short drive, with its unspoilt secluded beaches and coastal walks. The beaches are absolutely superb here.
Cabo de Palos is within easy driving distance 15/20 mins, a sleepy fishing village by day and one of Europe's best known diving areas then as the evening falls it becomes a mecca for the young with its bustling bars, clubs, and fish restaurants. Recommended for eating lunch or evening meals overlooking the harbour.
San Javier, Santiago de la Ribera all have very attractive beach fronts with their promenades, offering shops and restaurants.
Further along the coast is Lo Pagan with its therapeutic mud baths said to help relieve all kinds of skin and joint ailments due to the salt and mineral content of the Mar Menor water.
15 minutes drive is La Manga strip. Its a narrow strip of land separating the Mediterranean sea from the quiet waters of the Mar Menor offering all the water sports you can imagine.
Golfers Paradise: There are 9 golf courses within a 15 minute drive of the property including 3 championship courses, the famous La Manga and the newly opened Roda being popular choices. La Serena situated in Los Alcazares and fast gaining a reputation as a superb course to play. Discounts on green fees are available for renters - please ask for details
We live in Hertfordshire and I am a branch manager in an Estate Agents in North London. My husband Gordon is a builder and when we are not working we are looking after our grandchildren aged 3 & 5. Gordon comes from Stirling in Scotland I was born in London, we have another 2 granchildren in Scotland aged 4 & 8.
As often as we can we try and get over to Los Alcazares as the family has expanded we too sometimes rent an apartment on Albatros so we can fit everybody in!!

When we came to Spain to look for a property we had never been to Murcia and were thinking to buy in Denia or Gandia in Costa Blanca where we had spent many holidays when our children were small. My youngest daughter was 8 when we started looking and my wish list included:

A residential area in a town with an authentic Spanish feel
We looked at about 12 properties in all mostly in the Costa Calida as this was an area was being developed quite quickly in 2004. As soon as we drove into Los Alcazares I knew it was the right place! And the property exactly met our needs- the developer was trying to sell the outer units overlooking the road first but we were determined to have one overlooking the pool so my daughter could swim and still be within view if we were sitting on the patio. In the end although we had to pay an extra 2000 euros we secured No 115.
115 Albatros is our 'place in the sun' and our home away from home. As soon as we arrive we switch into Spainish mode and spend lazy days - walking to the Post Room to buy a newspaper and grab a cappacino, then a bit of shopping and a stroll to the beach to catch some rays and then a leisurely lunch with some excellent vino and a siesta before heading off for a game of golf or a drive into Cartagena or maybe out to Rebate for an evening meal.
The fact that everything is so close by means you can walk to all the amenities within a few minutes and to us that makes it so convenient.
The apartment was very comfortable and clean, comfy beds, everything as described. Good location for bars, shops on the plaza with a 500 metre walk and the lovely beach approx 10 mins walk away. The apartment complex had a nice feel about it and we felt very comfortable and secure. The apartment has two outside areas, the rear had the sun for most of the day and the front patio was in the shade in March, but after being to this resort in June 08, patios need to be in the shade as it is so sunny and really hot in the summer...fab holidayip , great resturants especilly The Bayside and Pearls Fish and Chips.

The holiday apartment was exactly as described. It was clean and well maintained. Had all English TV channels which was great. Owner was very good and met and took us back to the airport. The welcome pack of food was exactly as we had specified. There is a good range of restaurants within walking distance and a really good supermarket very close by. I would recommend this property to all our friends and relatives. The communal pool isverynice and the apartment overlooks this.
All in all a very enjoyable holiday we really enjoyed strolling by the Mar Menor.
Really enjoyed our stay. The apartment is in a great location. It was very busy around the pool though and I had to get up to put our towels out so we could make sure we were in front of the apartment. We had a small problem with ants too but I just sprayed ant spray and it seemed to solve the problem. We would definitely return but not in August.
The property is really well equipped with everything we needed. It is really close to the pool which was great for little ones. The pool itself is really nice with an excellent childrens pool. The area surrounding the pool can get a bit busy during the peak times in the school holidays, but that never stopped us finding a sunny spot to dry off. We liked the shady patio on the front of the apartment. It is a large and well furnished and a great place to eat meals or a relaxing drink. The rooms were great with lovely comfortable beds. The temperature reached 41 degrees while we were there and the air conditioning was perfect. There is a separate charge, but it is really reasonable and 20 Euros lasted over a week. Big plus points were a washing machine and a dishwasher. The sunny patio at the back of the property was great for drying any washing, taking only about an hour to dry the costumes or towels etc. There is plenty of storage space, loads of towels and linens and a well equipped kitchen.
We have been to the area before and went back specifically because it is so good for children. A hire car is not needed as everywhere is in easy walking distance. We were there with a child in a wheelchair and all the shops, restaurants, beaches and markets are in really easy strolling distance. We will definitely be holidaying in the area again soon and would love to go back to this property.
Lovely family friendly apartment, right on the pool, which was very handy for my two boys (6 & 11). The terrace is spacious and nice and shaded for the summer months. There are lots of towels and the kitchen is well stocked. Also it has a large flat screen TV with satellite channels, plus DVD player. The Albatros complex is very well kept and is a 5 minute walk to the Plaza (restaurants, cafes, bars etc) and the local Mercadona supermarket. The beach/promenade is approx 10 minutes walk away. Will be back!
Ideally situated well-equipped apartment overlooking the pool, on a clean and tidy, secure complex. Excellent for families with children. We could take shade on the terrace and drink Sangria and still keep an eye on the kids in the pool! Met people that go back year after year and can see why. Conveniently situated within walking distance to the town with a selection of bars and restaurants, shops and supermarkets. Safe location for our teenagers to wonder down town on their own. We did the ferry boat trip over to La Manga and had a great day swimming in the warm, clear Mediterranean sea and enjoying some excellent cocktails made by the bar man working in the shack on the beach! Saturday and week day market were well worth a look. We will definitely go back. Thank you to Sue and Ann
Situated overlooking mountains to the rear and a park to the front and yet within a 10 minute walk of the beautiful blue flag beaches, local restaurants, bars. shops banks etc are a 5 minute level walk away. The property is a 10 minute drive from San Javier airport yet located in a quiet residential area. There are 9 golf courses within a 15 min drive including La Manga and the newly opened La Serena and Roda courses. Discounts are available for golfers at selected courses. There is a water sports centre and sailing from the local beach areas with go-karting a 5 minute drive. Both historic Cartagena and |Murcia are a short drive with Torrevieja approx half an hour's drive. Alicante airport is 45 min drive.
