We have three studios in the same building, managed from our travel agency on the ground floor (attention: check-in outside of agency hours, which are M - Fr 9:30a - 12:30p, 2p - 6:30p, or Saturday 9:30a - 12:30p, carries an extra 50€ cost).
The studio described here, “Soleil,” occupies the front half of the first floor of our building (European system, so one flight up). “Citron,” another of our studios, occupies the back half, so together the two occupy the entire floor: ideal for a family.
A smaller one, 'Petit Nuage,' is on the 3rd floor.
The studio is the size of a large (for Paris) hotel room: 21 sq. meters / 225 sq feet. It has high ceilings, the exposed beams befitting its 700+ years, a kitchen area, and a detached, private bathroom, with a full tub and a shower attachment.
It is on the front of the building, with two large windows looking out on our semi-pedestrian street. The apartment is light and pleasant. Street noise is relatively low-volume (few cars, double-glazed windows). There is substantial pedestrian traffic, though, and on a Friday or Saturday night you may prefer to sleep with the windows closed.
It offers a 'French double' bed (120 cm, NOT queen size) and 2 chairs that fold out to single beds. It is really designed for a couple, or for up to three friends travelling together, but 4 can squeeze in if two share the double bed. A baby bed is available at no extra cost, if desired.
Wireless internet is available (and free).
We are located in the heart of the 2nd arrondissement's Montorgueil pedestrian neighborhood, Paris’ most enjoyable center city neighborhood. We are a block from a lively market street with a plethora of fresh products. Sidewalk cafés, excellent restaurants of all levels, and no fewer than 7 patisseries are all within 2 blocks. A short walk (15 minutes or less) brings you to the Louvre, the Pompidou Center, the banks of the Seine, Palais Royal, Notre Dame, the Marais, and many of the city’s other prime attractions.
Longer distances are equally easy to navigate: 9 métro lines, including direct lines to both airports, to 6 of Paris' 7 main line rail stations, and to the intercity bus station, are within five minutes’ walk.
We've worked and lived in this, our favorite Parisian neighborhood, for 30 years.
Blue Marble purchased this studio in 1996
We are city people, and living in the medieval heart of one of the world's most beautiful, in a zone (relatively) free of cars, is a dream come true.
These apartments used to be our home. With the arrival of our 2nd child, we needed more space, and we now live a couple of blocks away. We rent out our old places to help pay the rent on our new one.
Easily accessible to everything you could want to see in Paris. A huge swath of the city is reachable on foot, and convenient métro and bus routes reach the rest. Or, we offer 'Vélib' cycle rental cards for as little as 1€ / day. Visiting the city by bike is wonderful!
In addition, the apartment's own pedestrian neighborhood bustles with markets, boutiques, cafés, gardens, and churches. It offers contact with a typically French way of life that is a dated stereotype in many parts of the country, but which is alive and well in our little village neighborhood.
To start off, this is the best apartment we have ever rented!!!
Check-in: 5 minutes and we were done.
Cleanliness: Very clean and cozy apartment.
Size: We stayed at Petit Nuage, and the apartment is exactly what its called. A little cloud :) It was big enough for the 2 of us. The only thing is it is on the 3rd floor. We were fine with it as well.
Service: Fantastic. In the apartment we found a book about the apt and the area. I travel a lot and usually do a very thorough research. With this place, the book had answers to all my questions even if I didn't research the area
Staff: Everybody is VERY nice.
Check-out: it took us two minutes to complete the checkout
The accommodation was more than fine except for the mouldy bathroom. The smell was strong and the cause was apparent as you could see it on the tiles in the shower. I suggest some urgent maintenance because the mould Is definitely a health hazard.
Very enjoyable stay in a great location, just a couple blocks from Metro and a block from a terrific eating street. Tiny apartment (Soleil) suitable for 2 people, very complete and comfortable. You are expected to launder sheets before leaving, a consideration if you have an early flight out.
The cobble stone streets lead you from the nearby metro station through bustling streets and delightful cafés. The people engaged in conversations or enjoying coffee support the atmosphere of this enchanting escape. We walked two blocks Sunday morning to the market and bought fresh fish and bread along with hot garden-fresh ratatouille. Fully stocked for our picnic we took the short 10minute walk to Louvre gardens and took in the sights and experienced the vibe. This location is ideal for living Paris - it is cute, comfortable and quaint. If you are used to big quiet, American houses, this is quite smaller and you have the added benefit of absorbing the sounds and lives of your neighbors. We would not hesitate to stay here again and in fact hope that we will have the ability to do so soon. Thanks!
My daughter and I stayed in Petit Nuage in March 2013 for a week and loved it. The apartment is very small, but immaculately clean and cosy. Everything we needed was there, the fold-out couch very comfortable. There is even a washing machine! Huge THANKS to Nicholas, who helped us with advice on anything from buying books to visiting museums and taking metro. The directions he gave us to several places in and around Paris were very detailed and accurate. We were greeted warmly upon our arrival, and felt like welcome guests.
The building is close to a pedestrian street where one can find anything - freshly baked croissants, wine, cheese, fruit, vegetables, etc. 5 metro lines are within a short walk.
To sum it all up - we loved staying in Petit Nuage, and will definitely stay there again when we come back to Paris.
My daughter and I stayed in the Soleil apartment recently. The lodging is just as described, small yet well furnished. The kitchen has everything you would need, but you won't need much, because of the wonderful shops nearby. The owners have provided a nice print-out of nearby restaurants and shops and directions on how to access the metro and various sights, such as The Louvre and Notre Dame.
Our only problem with this street facing room was with the noise. With the windows open at night, late night partiers could be heard at all times. But, I considered having a washing machine available in Soleil to be a great trade off for the quieter Citron.
I loved Paris, I loved this location, and would certainly consider staying here again.
We stayed in Petit Nuage and we had an excellent experience. It was very clean, compact, well-stocked, and everything functioned well. It was also pleasant and airy, despite being petit, and the size was perfect for two people. We really enjoyed having an apartment to come home to each day, and it was in a great location. It's located a block from a lovely pedestrian market street with corner open-air cafes, and at least one, if not two, of every kind of food shop -- chocolate, wine, cheese, bakeries, butchers, fruit and vegetable shops, a small grocery store, and much more. The street was actually recommended by a tour guide we overheard telling a couple to go there for a great experience. We bought fresh food every day and cooked in the apartment with no troubles. Right around the apartments is a pleasant, clean, friendly little paved square, where a lot of kids gather in the afternoons to play soccer, and people sit on the benches. No one bothered us and we felt quite safe, when we had to come in late at night, or at other times of the day. We liked overlooking the courtyard, and on the weekend were serenaded by lovely music coming through the open windows from another apartment. The apartment has a television, but we didn't have time to watch it, but the internet connection was important. There was some difficulty with it the first night, due to a previous renter's damage, but it was fixed very quickly the next morning when we mentioned it. The staff was friendly and helpful, and it was convenient to be able to buy airport train tickets there in the morning when we checked out instead of fiddling at the station when we were in a hurry. A previous commenter mentioned the stairs. They are indeed steep and small. But we did not find them at all to be difficult to manage, weren't out of breath at the top when we went up them each day, or anything. Carrying suitcases was long even with our small carry-ons, but you only have to do that once! The apartment is within easy walking distance of almost anything on that side of the river -- we walked almost everywhere -- and is a very quick couple of minutes' walk around the block to the metro, which is on an easily-accessible line. We were very, very pleased with our stay here, including the price, and look forward to being able to stay here again the next time we visit.
