Heaven on Earth!
What a hidden gem! Diane is the hostess with the mostess! Wonderful hiking and the stars at night are magnificent! We didn’t want to leave!
We enjoyed the garden house, but the location was off the grid and very far back in the country. The house was very clean and the property manager was very nice and easy to deal with. We were going to VA Tech for a graduation and it's a long drive on small winding roads. If we were just staying at the house it would have been much better. I would definitely recommend it for a get away.
Best break from the busy buzz of life!
The beautiful location of this cottage next to a small stream and off the beaten path make it an ideal holiday spot. It felt like time slowed down in the best possible way! It exceeded our expectations. We spent our mornings and evenings on either the side porch for our meals or on the front porch when the rain moved into the area. It was incredibly restful and I wouldn't change anything about it. The hosts were also terrific and a delight to work with during our stay! I'd give both the location and the hosts my highest recommendation. I'm hopeful we have another opportunity to return to the cottage.
I'm so happy you enjoyed your stay. Please come back in another season...they all have their charms!
Perfect retreat to soothe your soul!
My long-time friend and I met at this darling cottage to spend a girls weekend reconnecting after many years apart. It was the ideal place for us. The little cottage is appointed so nicely with just the right touches of country and comfort and everything was clean and fresh. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need to enjoy a leisurely breakfast or full-on meal. The rooms in the cottage are cozy but not cramped and having two bedrooms was ideal. The upstairs bedroom is large with two beds and could easily accommodate several children while parents slept in the lovely downstairs bedroom. It rained pretty much nonstop the entire time we were there, which prevented us from enjoying the lush grounds and walking in the hills, but the constant rain made our little warm cottage feel like even more of the perfect refuge. The creek running behind the house was gushing by the time we left and with the windows cracked a little, it was a joyous sound to wake to! My only caution is pay close attention to the directions! The cottage is hard to find and, although my GPS mostly conked out before getting there, it did miraculously stay alive long enough for me to make my way through the maze of roads that got me there. Also, unless you have Verizon, you will not have any internet connection or cell service. Even with Verizon it was spotty at best. But, that's the point of being at this lovely cottage - to disconnect and enjoy nature! Lastly, the owners Diane and Chuck were very responsive and kind and the materials they left in the house are comprehensive and helpful. I highly recommend staying at their sweet cottage.
I'm happy you enjoyed your stay with your friend in the Creekside Cottage. Please come back in another season...they all have their charms! Yes, we are off the beaten track which is why we always send detailed directions and suggest printing them out rather than relying on GPS, which can be tricky in rural areas. I hope to see you back on the farm on a warm sunny day, perfect for hiking our 250 property!
A Beautiful home on a beautiful landscape.
To start, I'd like to say that Diane is a wonderful person. She was very generous with our stay at her home. We reserved Diane's home for two nights but our car experienced issues the day prior to our reservation. After explaining this to Diane, she was very understanding and considerate enough to allow us to stay an additional night free of charge. Diane's personable and welcoming attitude was one of the highlights of our trip. She even prepared dinner for my fiancé and I after I notified her that we would be arriving later than expected! Her home was fully furnished in a comfortable space. The Garden House's location is perfect, with a beautiful view of the surrounding area. Near the house is a small, peaceful stream that compliments the area perfectly. We won't hesitate to revisit during the warmer seasons. Thanks again for all that you've provided Diane!
Thank you for the lovely note. Come back soon!
