Garden, Creek, and Butterflies. What more could you ask for?
The Garden House is a beautiful place to get away. My wife and I stayed here to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. As the description states, the house sits right in front of a small creek. Beside the house is a porch with chairs and a table to lounge at while taking in the view of the surrounding flowers (in summer) and the garden. The "Hoop House" (or greenhouse) is right across the creek. We visited in August, so the property was full of blooming flowers and butterflies. We also took advantage of the mowed paths that lead throughout the farm. It is a somewhat challenging hike, but well worth it.
My wife and I were looking particularly for a place that is "off the grid." As such, there is spotty cell reception at best (I have Verizon), so plan accordingly. Once outside, I had no problems loading my GPS.
The inside of the house is very clean. It is also stocked with just about any utensil, pot, pan, etc. you would need to cook. We cooked both inside (using the oven) and outside (using the grill) with no issues.
Diane is a great host. She was kind enough to check in with us shortly after we arrived and reassured us that she was more than happy to assist us in any way she could. There are also multiple recommendations for restaurants and places to visit both in the welcome binder and brochures/magazines placed in the main living room.
We could not have been happier with our stay!
Cottage in Dugspur VA
This was the best getaway for my husband and myself. It was so peaceful listening to the creek and birds singing. No TV was awesome, a great time to reconnect without distractions. The weather was wonderful in July.
Very quiet property. Little cabin in the mountains. Perfect if you want want a place to stay with good views. No TV-Wi-Fi or Internet but very nice prorerty
Heaven on Earth!
What a hidden gem! Diane is the hostess with the mostess! Wonderful hiking and the stars at night are magnificent! We didn’t want to leave!
We enjoyed the garden house, but the location was off the grid and very far back in the country. The house was very clean and the property manager was very nice and easy to deal with. We were going to VA Tech for a graduation and it's a long drive on small winding roads. If we were just staying at the house it would have been much better. I would definitely recommend it for a get away.
Best break from the busy buzz of life!
The beautiful location of this cottage next to a small stream and off the beaten path make it an ideal holiday spot. It felt like time slowed down in the best possible way! It exceeded our expectations. We spent our mornings and evenings on either the side porch for our meals or on the front porch when the rain moved into the area. It was incredibly restful and I wouldn't change anything about it. The hosts were also terrific and a delight to work with during our stay! I'd give both the location and the hosts my highest recommendation. I'm hopeful we have another opportunity to return to the cottage.
I'm so happy you enjoyed your stay. Please come back in another season...they all have their charms!
