805 Marlin Dr.
A unique and luxurious oceanfront home with 5 plus bedrooms and an 80 foot deck just 30 feet from the ocean. Cathedral ceilings beautifully shade over 50 feet of glass that gives the feel of being just beside the water. Spacious bedrooms flank open living spaces with all the comforts of home. This house sits near the 9th fairway of the Ocean Point Golf course and is close to the clubhouse, pool, and restaurant facilities.
'FRIPP IT GOOD'
Our family had the privilege of staying at this wonderful home for our annual Fripp Island vacation. We have been coming to Fripp for 14 years - 805 Marlin is undoubtedly the best location on the Island! We enjoyed beach 24/7 with just a few steps to the ocean. The sunrise over the Ocean Point Golf Course was spectacular. The home is lovely and spacious. We had 8 adults and an infant - everyone had plenty of room. The deck is large and exceptional with a composite flooring (I can't count the number of splinters we have removed due to decking on other properties) but not this time! Very nice! The golf cart and amenity cards were an additional benefit. Sad to have to leave!
My daughter and her friends wanted a nice place to get away for Spring Break and we were so lucky to have found this house! It is exactly as pictured and just a wonderful place to get away. The ocean view was gorgeous - some of our friends were staying on the same street and were so jealous of the home.
Our dogs were able to run on the beach as it was not crowded - ever - and the weather was wonderful. I can't say enough about the house and all it has to offer. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful home with us and we do hope to return sometime.
Owning water loving dogs in the upper midwest makes for long winters for humans and canines. 3 years of ocean spring breaks trying to find the perfect place where we could all walk out the door and be on the beach lead us to this gem! We will be back!!
The house was huge for the dogs and 2 humans but we just stayed on the main level and closed off the extra bedroom doors. Relaxing mornings spent drinking tea on the newly redone, jumbo sized deck, which is made of artificial wood so no slivers, watching the birds, the dolphins, and the people enjoy the beach. Days spent chasing those birds down the seashore, retrieving a million thrown tennis balls, and playing in the water. Hoses in the front and back of the house to wash off sand and salt. Dinner cooked in the fully equipped kitchen and enjoyed on the dining room table while watching the large, flat-screened TV. Evening nestled into the leather, L-shaped couch watching our choice of cable channels or streaming movies from the wi-fi. (Traveled with our Apple TV to take full advantage of the included wi-fi.)
The bedroom with the king sized bed, included a sliding glass door with screen to enjoy the sounds, smells, and breeze of the ocean. The room itself was plenty large for suitcases and a sleeping kennel for our youngest dog. The newly remodeled bath inside this room included a double sink and large vanity.
We cooked a few meals on the new, looking charcoal grill. Noted that the stainless steel fridge must have been newly added as well.
Booking and investigating if this was the right place for our spring break with the owners and Fripp Island was also a pleasant experience. Very quick to respond, very open and flexible with changing dates and a fair rate for the location and all the amenities.
This was our second stay on Fripp Island. Our favorite part of visiting is the very friendly people we have met. We do not feel judged by the permanent residents because we are renters. The island is low key. We drove to Hilton Head for 1 day of our trip and appreciated the quiet, less tourist feel of Fripp. If you are looking for big shopping malls, lots of chain restaurants, and to be seen by the in-crowd, Hilton Head is a better choice. We were looking for a place the dogs could play without running into too many people so Fripp was a much better match.
My family (15 total from grandparents to 2 year old) stayed in this house in April and we loved it! The reservation process was easy, the house was clean and well maintained when we arrived, and it was nice to rent a beach house with linens included instead of the usual rental hassle of other locations. The views and beach access were the highlights! It doesn't get any easier than walking down a short flight of stairs to arrive at a wide, quiet beach. The outdoor shower/wash station was an added bonus. We did have to keep an eye on the tides; high tide brought crashing waves to our access point (and the public access point beside the house) that was high enough our littlest family members wouldn't be able to walk through it - but it really only affected short periods of time when the tide was at it's highest. This house has a much easier beach access point than many of the others around it that include long boardwalks and/or wading through tidal pools. We will definitely return!
This was our third year vacationing on Fripp Island and our second year staying in this house. My family (parents, brothers, sisters, their spouses, and children) absolutely love this house. It comfortably slept all 15 of us!! The home was spacious and very clean. The living/dining area is large enough and has enough seating so that everyone could comfortably sit and eat/talk without feeling cramped.
The bedrooms are spacious and well laid out. The linens were clean and the beds comfortable. The bedroom/bathroom ratio is perfect and worked great even with 15 of us in the house.
The view is AMAZING! Watching the sun rise/set from the huge living room windows was beautiful. Each bedroom has it's own balcony...an added bonus our family really enjoyed.
The house has plenty of beach at high and low tide and there is no wading through a tidal pool like some of the surrounding properties. You will not find a home on Fripp with better beach access. The deck staircase leads directly to the sand.
The house is at the end of a cul-de-sac and the neighborhood is very quiet. There is a "public" beach access area next to the house but we were literally the only people on the beach all weekend except for one family with small children and an elderly couple. It was great to be able to let the kids run free on the beach. It's definitely a very private/laid back atmosphere.
I spoke with the owner when initially setting up the reservation. She was very nice and helpful and easily answered any questions that I had about the property.
My family plans to vacation at Fripp Island again next year and we will definitely stay in this house again. It's become our home away from home!
We stayed in this home during our first trip to Fripp in June '10 with our 4 kids, ranging from 7-18. The house was just as pictured. We all had our "wish list" of things we wanted for vacation, and I wanted to wake up and see water. This house did not disappoint! I sat on the rear deck, just feet from the ocean, having my coffee each morning. I told my husband on our first day, "this house just totally spoiled us for any future vacations here!"
The house is on the part of the island where there is only beach at certain times of day. At low tide, you can walk out for a long way. As the tide comes in, you can walk through about knee high water to the sand bar. It's very intimidating at first when the waves are crashing against your steps, but in reality, the water's not very deep. I thought this would bother me at first, but we just planned around the tides. I loved that I could see the kids on the sandbar looking for shells from the deck.
The house is at the end of the street, so it is quiet. Personally, I liked that. Some of the mid-island properties are quite busy, and I liked being able to leave that and go back to the house. We rented a second golf cart, and only drove the car to leave the island for groceries.
The kitchen is well equipped. Bring kitchen trash bags. We cooked at home a lot and ran out of trash bags. The kitchen is a small galley style kitchen. If you have visions of the entire family cooking together, then this is not the house for you. Everything is full size, so there is no problem cooking a big meal, but with more than 2 of us in there, it got a bit chaotic! I do all of the cooking, and I would gladly trade a big kitchen for that location and view!
You have to go up steps to get in the house, front and back. I think most houses on the island are this way, but if we had brought my mother-in-law, it would have been a big challenge. Just a consideration!
The owners were friendly and easy to work with. She was very patient with what probably seemed like my endless questions! The kids loved Fripp as much as we did. It was such a nice, laid back, easy vacation. I have no doubt we will be back.
