If an alternative experience of Hawaii is what you're seeking then this is the place for you. Come experience this cute cozy cabin nestled in the woods, surrounded by tall Ohi'a trees and lots of tropical birds to serenade you. Situated at 2000' elevation (which means it might get a bit chilly at times), on a very private, peaceful, gated 20 acre piece of land on the Southern most part of the Big Island. Located half way between Kona and Hilo with grocery stores and restaurants nearby, 60 miles from the Hawaii Volcano National Park entrance, 15 miles from the famous Green Sands Beach and Punalu'u the black sand beach where you'll find Hawaiian Hawksbill turtles sunning on the sand.
As of May 2018 the main part of the Volcano National Park is now closed because of the damage that occurred from the earthquake. Just 5 minutes away from the cabin, the Kahuku Unit of the Volcano National Park is now open to the public. There are beautiful hiking trails, guided or on your own, a gift shop, and information center. The park is open Wednesday through Sunday from 9-4. The main part of the Volcano National Park will be re-opening parts of the park on Sept.22, 2018.
The cabin has one bedroom with a queen size bed, a futon couch/bed in the living room, one bathroom with plenty of on demand hot water, a complete kitchen and is completely self sufficient and off the grid - solar power, water catchment, propane appliances. Linens, dishes, pots and pans, a blender, and a coffee press are available for your convenience. Since the power is from the sun, no hair dryer, curling iron, or things of that nature can be used. There's a DVD player with a variety of movies for your entertainment. Most cell phones work here and wi-fi is available.
Smoking permitted outside only. Please no outside guests or visitors or pets.
