1500 sq ft 2 BR, 2 BA guesthouse on 5 acre vineyard estate.
About stephen huntington
Retired CFO - I live on the property and work in the vineyards during the growing season. I sell most grapes to the local wineries and make some wines for guests.
stephen huntington purchased this Cottage in 2004
Why stephen huntington chose Temecula
I grew up in San Francisco and missed Napa Valley very much when I relocated to Orange County in 1990. In 2003 I started looking for a weekend country home....Santa Barbara, Santa Ynez and Paso Robles were too far away for regular weekend commutes so I looked in Temecula and found this property. It had a tiny vineyard which I later expanded to three acres and began selling grapes to wineries and making wine on the weekends.
What makes this Cottage unique
This guesthouse was formerly a winemaking facility for the small vineyard, full of wine tanks, barrels and a basket press. I built another small facility for winemaking and converted the old barnlike structure to a two bedroom, two bath guesthouse with contemporary furnishings and fixtures while keeping some of the rustic touches. Benefits include the privacy, pool, vineyard and surrounding mountain views and proximity to wineries, new beds and full laundry. Also, we use a professional linen rental service for towels, sheets and pillow cases. Please don't wash these. Extras in guest bedroom closet.

Beautiful views and very comfortable
We found the guest house at Grapeland very comfortable. Loved the beds and pillows! The views were beautiful and relaxing and we ate out in Temecula as well as at home. We found everything we needed to make our 2-night stay great.
Gem Of A Cottage
We had such a relaxing and enjoyable visit to Temecula. Graceland Guest House was perfect for our stay. Quiet and comfortable. Beautiful views all around. Would definitely stay here again.
We can't wait to return to this guest house. It has a great kitchen and a nice grill on the porch (which has 4 Adirondack-style chairs and a wonderful view - perfect place to sit and relax), lovely bedrooms with comfy queen beds, and 2 really nice club chairs in the living area next to the kitchen. It was too cool for us to use the pool, but it is a great spot. And it wasn't cold enough to take advantage of the fireplace or the wood stove in the master bedroom, but those are nice touches. Finally, the owner makes the best wine we tasted in Temecula - he sells it too!
Very enjoyable with great views
The place was great with fantastics views of Temecula valley. It was nice on the inside. If I had only one recommendation I would make the master bath tub have a shower head so that you are able to take showers. It was a great stay and would go back again in a heart beat.
Charming guesthouse in wine country
We really enjoyed our stay at Grapeland Guesthouse. The area it's in is very peaceful and quiet yet only minutes from town. The grounds are beautiful, the guesthouse very clean and well stocked and Stephen was welcoming and accomodating. We will definitely stay here again on our next trip.
Accommodating to needs
Clean, all necessary amenities supplied.
Location great to get to wineries.
I would recommend and would stay here again.
Here are directions to Guest House ( you may also use Mapquest or Google Maps which may take you along shortcuts but don't use GPS to find our driveway as it is often incorrect.....Instead use GPS to find Via Champagne then use my directions below.)......From Hwy 15 North or South, Exit at Rancho California Road and head east into wine country. Follow this about 7-8 miles to the traffic circle and turn right on Anza Road. Follow Anza to Deportola Road and turn left. After passing Keyways and Renzoni wineries prepare to turn left at Camino del Vino. ... Then turn right at Calle Puerta Bonita Road , then left at Via Champagne to the dead end where my driveway will be on your right and the address 36280 will be marked on the wine barrels just inside the driveway entrance. Once you have turned onto the driveway, ahead will be a short light post with a sign to GUESTHOUSE where you turn left and drive into the carport ...You are here. My phone 949-254-1071.
Here is my list of wineries worth the visit:
1. You can walk from the guesthouse to Oak Mountain Winery, Leonesse Winery (Restaurant open Fri, Sat, Sun.), and Robert Renzoni Winery.
2. On Rancho California Road - Ponte (fun wines, best party atmosphere, best outdoor restaurant - open daily for lunch), Weins - best dry reds (next to Ponte), South Coast Winery (next to Ponte with restaurant also), Lorimar Winery, Monte de Oro Winery and Wilson Creek (with restaurant).
