About Michelle & Lawnie Sturdevant
Lawnie & I (Michelle) lived and worked in Houston, Texas for many years. In 2014, we bought a vacation home in San Miguel and built an additional home on the adjacent lot next door allowing us to rent this beautiful home and still be accessible to our guests. We are a very social couple who love traveling and meeting new people. We love good restaurants, good wine and spending time entertaining with friends.
Michelle & Lawnie Sturdevant purchased this House in 2014
Why Michelle & Lawnie Sturdevant chose Zona Centro
We love the weather here in San Miguel and being so accessible to excellent restaurants, art, culture and shopping makes this place hard to beat. We know that you'll have a fantastic time here in what many people call "the magical city of San Miguel." In addition, we can offer an English-speaking and certified guide at his direct cost to show you around the city and surrounding areas whether by foot or car.
What makes this House unique
Located in one of San Miguel's most distinguished gated communities. Casa Grande is located 0.4 miles from Parque Juarez, 0.5 miles from the world famous Instituto Allende and 0.7 miles from the Parroquia and El Jardin (the town square), both are the center of the city. The walk to these areas are gently downhill (you can walk home or a taxi is $3 USD from anywhere in town). Juarez Park is also only a short walk as are many restaurants, shops, galleries and the historic Instituto Allende on Ancha de San Antonio Street.

Casa Grande and its hosts are fabulous!!!
The entire process of renting, checking in, visiting, and checking out was see less. The house is gorgeous, with spectacular patios and balconies, and fantastic views. It has all amenities you need, and is convenient to everything in San Miguel. The owners, Michelle and Lawnie, are also wonderful. Helpful with ideas of things to do, making arrangements for you, including personal chefs and entertainment. We loved everything about our stay and would definitely return!
What an amazing property this is. My girlfriends and I had the choice of the 4 casitas and they were all so wonderful that it took us forever to decide which bedrooms to claim as our own. The beds are so comfortable and the little touches in each room (ie. clothing hooks, wall mounted baskets, heated mattress pads, chocolates, daily housekeeping, etc etc) make it so comfortable. The place is spotless and the rooftop deck is over the top! Lawnie and Michelle are the the most gracious hosts and went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. We will definitely be back.
Heather, we are so happy you chose Casa Grande San Miguel for your vacation choice of stay. Thanks for noticing all the little details. We love adding those extras for our guests. We are fortunate to have such wonderful guest. Please come back soon!!!! Michelle & Lawnie
Beautiful house, wonderful hosts
Casa Grande is wonderful--gorgeous furnishings and decor, lush plants and vining flowers, and a spectacular roof deck with a full kitchen, large hot tub, fire pit and spectacular views. Michelle and Lawnie are wonderful, generous hosts and genuinely nice people. We very much enjoyed our time at Casa Grande!
A couple of things to consider: 1) The location of Casa Grande (it's up on a hill) affords spectacular views, but you need to be in decent shape to walk down that hill (especially at San Miguel's higher altitude!) to get to the main street. Casa Grande's location does give you peace and quiet, though, not the constant noise of both foot traffic and auto traffic on the streets of the Centro. 2) Change your money into pesos before you go so that you don't have to visit a bank right away, because most businesses there don't take U.S. currency. 3) Also, we assumed that there would be many more people who spoke English than we encountered. Our limited Spanish language skills made it difficult for us to do anything by phone, such as ordering food delivery or calling a cab.
We give Casa Grande our whole-hearted endorsement--a beautiful home-away-from home where you are hosted by a wonderful couple! RJB
The Best of the Best.
Fabulous house and even more fabulous host and hostess. We will definitely stay here again and recommend it to our friends.
What a great holiday with friends!
We can't wait to come back to this property. Our Host and Hostess were fun, enthusiastic and have a beautiful property. Anything you need is available or can be procured quickly. We enjoyed several nights on the patio roof with the fire going and a good glass of wine!
What an amazing vacation. 5 stars on all levels.
From the time we landed at the airport, we were greeted by Alfredo (personal chauffeur of the Casa Grande) with some delicious home made margaritas. The drive to the house took about 1.5 hours, but we didn't mind because we got so much history from the driver.
Once at the Casa Grande, we were open arm welcomed by Michelle and Lawnie. We got a full tour of the house and started to settle in to vacation mode.
We opted for their stocking service to the fridge and pantry was filled with our favorites.
Rooftop area is to die for. It's where we spent most of our time when we were at the Casa.
Being on vacation, I didn't want to cook, so we opted for their cooking services. And boy oh boy...were we extremely satisfied with all the different food choices they prepared for us.
Ok, so if you visit Casa Grande, you must sign up for pizza night, that was so much fun and we laughed to tears with all the activities.
Another must is the "Taste of San Miguel Food Tour", and make sure you ask for Victor as your guide... absolutely unforgettable.
Michelle and Lawnie love sharing their passion and knowledge about life and the town. They were above and beyond what we could have evere expected during our visit.
The staff at the house was also amazing and very honest (personal story to confirm Vickie's integrity and honesty) she was the all around staff from sun up to sundown.
We are already talking about our next trip to Casa Grande.
We will be back for sure.
Great job Michelle and Lawnie, you helped make our trip (birthday for my husband) very memorable.
Hugs from Kat + Ken and Erica + Mike.
Kat, you are amazing! As you know, Lawnie and I LOVE what we do and it just warms our hearts to hear your kind words. We also had so much fun trying out new breakfast recipes and yes, the "Make your own Pizza" parties are really special as we get to interact with everyone and watch their faces as their very own pizza comes out of the pizza oven ready to eat!!! Guests like you really inspire us to go the extra mile. We do hope you'll come back and many thanks for taking the time to write this review :). Michelle & Lawnie
San Miguel de Allende is a fun, safe, friendly and vibrant city. The city is renowned for its arts...not only visual, but performing. It is also a "foodie" city and is named the No. 2 city in Mexico for culinary arts...2nd only to the world famous restaurants of Mexico City.
San Miguel is also a World Heritage Site with its unparalleled Spanish influenced architecture, ancient buildings and churches, cobblestoned streets and gardens. In fact, Conde Nest magazine named San Miguel the No. 1 city in the world to visit in 2014.
At 6,200 ft. elevation, San Miguel claims to have the 2nd best climate in the world. Outdoor living in the homes, hotels, restaurants and other businesses is the order of the day year round! Rarely do you need to wear anything but a nice pair of shorts, a Polo shirt and, on rare occasions, a light jacket for evening.
Come visit San Miguel...many people say it is like Santa Fe, New Mexico but with more charm and much lower prices. When you do come, we would love to host you and your party at Casa Grande! Lawnie & Michelle Sturdevant
Although the city was founded in the 1500's, its population is only about 140,000 people of which 13,000 are expats from the U.S., Canada, Europe and other places of the world.
