Master bedroom with a loft and spectacular views of the mountains and river
About Jessica Heglar
Our cabin is owned by family. The owner and her sister were pictured while on one of the beautiful hikes in the Shenandoah National Park. We are lucky enough to live in Luray right in the middle of all the beauty. We def take advantage of all the hiking and kayaking there is to offer so be sure to do the same on your visit.
Jessica Heglar purchased this Cabin in 2015
Why Jessica Heglar chose Luray
We want our guest to see what mother nature has to offer inside and out. Each piece of wood was hand selected from the trees in the Shenandoah Valley and our cabin was built with love. It has so much character and uniqueness about itself that you will be amazed at its true beauty. You can enjoy your time inside the cabin or outside around the fire pit and picnic area or on the river bank. You may also want to spend some time in the hot tub to just relax!! Its a fabulous place to just get away and make memories that will last a lifetime. If you are into hiking or taking scenic drives, we are located 20 minutes from the Shenandoah National Park. Feel free to take a dip in the Shenandoah River or take a trip kayaking/canoeing. Also we are located 10 minutes from Luray Caverns.
What makes this Cabin unique
Our cabin was built in 2015 and is made of cedar and yellow & white pine with hickory cabinets. Each tree was hand selected and cut down by us (owners) from different locations among the Shenandoah Valley. The beams along the fire place and overhead came from a barn in the Valley that is over 150 years old. We reclaimed the beams and wood to make the mantel and fireplace. How beautiful and characteristic the wood truly is!! A lot of time and love has been put into this cabin to welcome our guests and everyone who walks through our doors to enjoy the beauty of mother nature. We ask that our cabin is treated with care as we have done!! We hope all of our guest will enjoy the cabin and come back to see us year after year!

We had a marvelous time! The cabin was clean, just perfect! All we needed was there!
Property was great!!! Only negative was there is no WiFi and cell service is very very spotty. Couldn’t make calls and only some basic texts could go through. That being said, that could be considered a positive because it FORCED us to bond off the grid lol.
Also, about a mile right before the cabin, the road turns very very rocky and rustic. It can be hard to drive if you have a small car.
Great 4th on the river!
We truly enjoyed our stay at rivers edge cabin over the 4th of July. The cabin looks better than the pictures and is just steps from a shallow, relatively calm stretch of the river. We set up camp chairs, stuck our toes in the water, and watched the kayakers and tubers go by while our kids skipped rocks and waded along the shore. The cabin is simple and spare but has everything you need - we (barely) missed our phones and wifi. Luray is a quick, scenic drive away so we of course toured the cavern and picked up BBQ at Triple Crown BBQ (highly recommend). Next time we plan to bring kayaks to take even more advantage of the great location. Jessica was super responsive to all of my inquiries, too.
We are so glad you had a great time and would love to welcome you back anytime. Please reach out to me personally. Thanks again
The cabin was everything we could’ve imagined! So beautiful! And being riverfront was so peaceful! Loved every minute of our mini vaca at this cabin!!
Glad to hear you all had a great time at the cabin. Please feel free to come visit us again!
Perfect spot to relax and get away
My husband and I had a wonderful long weekend - 1st Anniversary at Jessica's cabin. The cabin is just as described - clean, right on the river with everything you need for a very relaxing, peaceful weekend away from it all. Luray is such a cute little town -and only minutes away from the cabin. The river was so peaceful...we enjoyed walking down and sitting out listening to it in the evenings. We grilled out one evening, made s'mores and really enjoyed the hot tub. Weather was extremely co-operative! Hope to be back again in fall! Thanks again.
Good, but some drawbacks
The property is pretty nice and mostly as advertised. The rooms were comfortable and had all the necessities. Our only real complaint is that the area has changed since the photos. We wanted something secluded, but the property has a new house directly next to it that is not pictured (like, 10 ft away), and a pretty full property on the other side, complete with a permanent RV. There was a funeral going on two houses down which we watched during our morning coffee on the porch. This is definitely the middle of a neighborhood with no privacy.
Our only other complaint is that there is no cell service and no wifi. Normally, this would have been fine, but my brother's 18 month old son was home sick and they had trouble getting updates which just caused an unnecessary amount of extra stress for us. I would highly recommend that the owners invest in wifi for customer comfort.
We would like to Thank your for your review and address some of the concerns. The construction of the other cabin has recently just started and with it not being complete, the cabin was vacant and its not 10 feet away. I would also like to point out that the area where our cabin (approximately a little over a 1/4 mile stretch along the Shenandoah River) is located are 98% all rentals. The RV that is permanently set up on the property beside us is also a vacation spot for the owners who do not live local. I do apologize for the funeral as that is out of our control but again that shows how amazing the area truly is that someone's last request was to be in that area. We have had a few other guest inquire about Wi-Fi but a lot of others who truly enjoy being disconnected to a certain extent. I do apologize for the issues you had with the cell service and will discuss the issue with the owners. We would welcome you to come back and visit us at another time if you wish. Have a great day
