Enjoy a peaceful retreat in this cozy cabin in La Pine OR located 30 miles South of Bend OR and nestled in an acre of Ponderosa and Lodgepole Pines. Simply decorated with inspiration from our National Parks, this peaceful space incorporates themes from the old patrol cabins used by park rangers, yet more modern in fashion.
Rates are kept low by attracting responsible renters who are willing to clean up after themselves and 'leave no trace'. No smoking please.
The fire in the woodstove is ready to light and your recliner is nearby. There is no phone for interruptions, but there are games, craft supplies, music, a TV (no cable- sorry- movies only) DVD, VCR, and plenty of reading material to occupy your time indoors. Outdoors, you can mountain bike or ski on the nearby Forest Service trails through the woods or to the Deschutes River. Mount Bachelor is a 45 minute drive for downhill skiing. When it snows, you can cross-country ski out the front door. Snows can be heavy at times so be sure your vehicle is prepared for winter travel. Fishing opportunities are a 20 minute drive to various lakes and rivers.
A two night minimum stay is required.

Roger Rudolph purchased this cabin in 2005
Roger bought the cabin in La Pine to be closer to some of Central Oregon's world class recreation. It's a great retreat and a wonderful place to share with others.
The cabin is peaceful, cozy, and comfortable, but with some rustic touches to remind you that you are away from the city.
We stayed at this cabin while participating in Pacific Crest Weekend in Sunriver. Beautiful, comfortable, clean home. Very close to Sunriver and all the lakes in the area. The owners are wonderful and hospitable. We will be back for sure!
We had a great time staying at this property. The owner was very friendly and helpful from making the reservation to checkout. The home is very well kept and has all the conveniences of home. The washer and dryer were a handy bonus. We really enjoyed sitting on the deck each evening after a day exploring the area. The cabin is central to all the outdoor activities and close enough to town for conveniences. It is a very quite area even though it is a neighborhood as the house is set well back from the road, in the pines. The bed was very comfortable. Living room is spacious and nicely furnished. The kitchen had everything you'd ever need and nice appliances as well. When back in the area, we'll certainly be staying again.
The cabin is in a residential area, and you do see the other houses (and whatever they have in their yards) surrounding, however there is still enough land, pines and natural understory on everyone's land that it still feels "woodsy." Our dogs loved being able to run free and explore the property; the wire fencing that surrounds it is sturdy and well-maintained. The king bed has a very comfy mattress. You are blocks away from National Forest Lands, a State Park and very close to lakes, rivers and hiking trails. Roger, the owner, couldn't be nicer or more accommodating. We will definitely be coming back.
DO NOT rent this cabin if you are not into peace and tranquility. My wife and I were shocked at how private and pristeen this cabin is. The interior of the cabin is decorated in a way that makes you feel as though you are the only person on the planet. All you need to bring is your expectation of a great time and your food and tooth brush. Finally the wood stove is all you need to take the chill off and settle in with a movie and or good book all provided at the cabin by the way. Go and enjoy.
My family always tries to use this cabin when we visit LaPine. We have used it so many times my extended family refer to it as our cabin. It is always clean, and ready to be used. We are always sad when it is booked if we are visiting and we have to go to a second option.
My husband and I booked this cabin at the last minute for an anniversary get-away. The owners were out of town but responded quickly. They are very nice and extremely accommodating!
When we arrived we found the cabin super-clean, and even though it was about 90 degrees that day, it was comfortable inside. There are many nice updates throughout.
The king-sized bed is soooo comfy! It has a big down comforter, soft sheets, extra wool blankets, and plenty of pillows. I generally don't sleep well away from home but I just couldn't help myself!
It's very nice to have all the bed linens, towels, etc there, and we really appreciated the opportunity to clean up after ourselves and save the cleaning fee.
It would be easy to bring our two little guys along and have them sleep on the futon, the cabin is larger than the pictures appear, but it was also perfect for just two of us.
We were limited on time for exploring, but made our way to the top of Paulina Peak. Oh my gosh - a fabulous view not to be missed, and less than an hour drive from the property.
We used the grill and had dinner outside on the deck the first evening, and then ate at Marcello's in nearby SunRiver the next night. (The food was awesome and service was great once our server was made aware we were in a quiet corner!)
Wickiup Station appears to be a happening place if you're looking for sports pub atmosphere, and I've heard Gordy's Truck Stop serves up some manly portions at breakfast.
We didn't have a chance to get to the lava cast forest this time, but I remember it from a while back and is another natural wonder to visit.
If you're looking for a simple, clean, and affordable place to stay that is surprisingly central to a variety of activities and restaurants then this is it!!!
