This beautiful 18th century house is completely peaceful and secluded, described by guests a 'mini paradise'. Many guests have said the house is much better in real life than the description and photos. Please look at our own website to see more pictures. The spacious interior allows large groups to spend a holiday together without feeling crowded. Inside the house the furnishings are to a very high standard with a Lacanche oven and American style fridge freezers. There is a wide screen TV, HiFi stereo system, WiFi Internet and a large selection of books and videos.

Outside there are two separate patios for eating and relaxation. There is a large (16m x 7m) swimming pool with heating and an electric cover. Adjacent is a pool house which provides additional accommodation with comfortable seating. There is a large amount of equipment in the kitchen perfect for guests who cook as a hobby. The surroundings of the property are laid to lawns and terraces with shade provided by native Oak trees. There are also substantial recreational facilities including swings, slides, trampoline with safety net, and a football goal. Local chefs are available to help with cooking (for a fee). Babysitting can be arranged on request.

Locally there is a rich cultural history and plenty for those who want to explore. There are multiple historic sites close by including the Market town of Uzes and well as the Roman city and amphitheatre at and museums Nimes.

The aerial walkway is great fun there are two different ones at 5km in Bagard and 15km at Anduze both are great fun and can accommodate children from approximately four years of age. Adults can take advantage of the 'black run' high in the trees which represents quite a challenge.

A stop off for rock jumping into the river is a must. There are cafes at the bridge and you can stop for lunch or ice cream. On the way to or from you can sample the delight of the Haribo sweet museum and shop. There is a children's amusement park next to the museum.

The nearest beach is 'La Grande Motte'; 10km of gently sloping sandy beach. The beach cafes offer excellent food and you can rent sunbeds and pedals. There is municipal parking next to the dunes. St Marie de la Mere and the Camargue National Park are easily reached for a day trip and the scenery and pink flamingos are amazing.

Historic Sites and adventures.: The mediaeval towns of Vezenobres and Uzes are close. Uzes and Anduze have wonderful markets. You can take the steam train from Anduze and visit the Bambousarie on the way. There many museums; Lavander; Haribo (sweets) Bee keeping, Motorbikes. About Owner: Lesley Roberts.

We have a large family and we have built and developed the house and grounds to suit and accommodate people of all ages. It is our holiday home and and like our guests to share the comforts our home provides. We regularly have three generations staying in the house simultaneously and there is so much space that it never feels crowded. It's difficult to demonstrate this in the check out the video to see the expansive nature of the house and grounds.

Owner: Lesley Roberts. purchased this house in 2000

Why Owner: Lesley Roberts. chose Monteils

This is a home from home. We had a fantastic holiday staying in a friends house close by. When we saw this beautiful house set in such wonderful surroundings we were smitten and have remained so ever since. year by year adding new features to enjoy. The stone arched ceiling in the main sitting room is really beautiful.

The pool has a heating system which permits use from April until the end of October. Pool towels are provided to save packing space.

The land that surrounds the house has a complete perimeter fence.

Although the main features are shown for Summer holidays the house is really fantastic in the Winter months with the log fire and central heating it is really snug. There are lots of DVDs and books perfect for a winter retreat.

Triathletes can use the locals hills for bike training and the baby equipment makes the house perfect for families with young children to take advantage of low season rental prices.

What makes this house unique

Totally peaceful with fantastic facilities. The house is well set back from the road and the large number of fields that surround the property means that holiday makers are assured a tranquil atmosphere in which to relax. There are many different spaces created - the shade of the gazebo next to the pool or the larger tented gazebo set in the shade of the trees.

The side terrace is perfect to watch the sun set behind the mountains.

The long table on the rear terrace is perfect for meals and seats 18.

Absolutely fantastic for family get togethers.

Also perfect for adult groups to get away from it all.

Winter holidays are really cosy with the log fire and winter sunshine.

There is so much to enjoy locally from the Camargue natural park to the beach at 'La Grande Motte' whether you want to relax or explore there is something for all tastes.

A days skiing is possible at Mount Lozere. All guests feel completely relaxed after a stay here.

There is a riding school in the next village.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Dear Sophie,

It was really very pleasant to stay in your familyhouse!!!!!!

It's really a big paradise. we all loved it very much.!!!!!!!

There was enough of everything!!!!

The cleaning was very good, the caretaker was a gentleman.

We want to come back in may 2017,( if we are allowed) we will let you know as soon as possible.

We have one tip:

As it is really a fantastic house with such a large group it would be fine if we could use 2 diswashes at a time.

We wish you and your family all the best and we hope we may come back in your PARADISE!!!!

A lovely place to be

Best regards,

Owners comment- thank you for your lovely comments.

Unfortunately the size of the pipes means the plumbing system cannot accept both dishwashers being on at the same time!

This is a house for a truly relaxing holiday where all ages can find activities to suit them on site both in summer and winter. Every effort has been made to make the interior comfortable. The amount of space available both inside and out is difficult to capture in photos. Children are particularly well catered for. Wheel chair users are welcome. 2 bathrooms are at the ground floor but they do not fit disabled specifications. We would suggest wheel chair users to discuss their needs with the owners who would be happy to help. There are Lacanche and Smeg range cookers, guests who enjoy cooking will find the kitchen has everything including a food processor. Two American fridge/freezers and al large drinks fridge. The pool house is furnished with plastic glasses, etc., for pool side safety. There are sunbeds chairs and umbrellas, outdoor games, boles, football, cricket and badminton nets.Trampoline swings and slides. Log fire, videos books and indoor games for cosy winter relaxation.

Gorgeous villa for a relaxing holiday!

  • 5 of 5

It is an absolutely beautifully renovated home on a spacious property. My wife and I were jetlagged but immediately relaxed in the covered area for an al fresco lunch.

We used the outdoor pool for morning swims and refreshing dips in the afternoon. The beds were comfortable and gave us a great night’s rest. We enjoyed afternoon walks in the nearby sunflower fields and vineyards. Our stargazing by the pool in the evenings on chaise lounges with (several!) glasses of wine were some of our fondest memories.

Practically speaking, the house is easy to find and close enough to transportation links that day trips were easy to plan for. The grounds and interior were impeccably clean and well maintained and actually better than described. As a bonus, the wine cooperatives had fantastic local rosés. We had some trouble working the oven but the property manager was responsive and very helpful and showed us how to use it.

5/5 - Would highly recommend!

A fantastic half-term holiday

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful winter break in this gorgeous farmhouse, much of it spent playing games and generally sprawling around the open fire in the cosy living area. The huge, well equipped kitchen open to the dining table meant rose was easily handed back and forth while cooking. Enjoyed spectacular starry skies from the terrace and poolside (blankets recommended for colder nights.) Spacious cosy bedrooms, long garden with tree house for kids to explore sweeping to mountainous horizon. Even though you feel suitably remote, the hypermarket is only a short drive away. The nearby town of Uzes is rammed with cafes bars restaurants and plentiful antique establishments - particularly worth a visit on market day though get there early. The decor feels in keeping with the the house but with guests comfort uppermost in mind. A fabulous location. Hoping to revisit in summer.

Wow.....what a stunning house and location!

  • 5 of 5

One of the most memorable family vacations we have ever had. The property looks fantastic in the pictures, and even better in person. Very clean and looked after. Beautifully decorated with bathrooms in most guest rooms. The house comes with all the amenities needed for a fun filled family vacation with our adult children and families. Great location nestled in between exquisite french villages where we could sample great wines and the local cuisine. The pool was fantastic along with sitting at night watching the Milky Way and the shooting stars. We loved this house and plan on another visit within the next two years. Thank you for a great vacation experience!

Beautiful, relaxing, winter retreat

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic long weekend at Mas des Gardies. The perfect place to spend some time off in the winter months. The house was immaculate, well stocked and modern. Many of the bedrooms look like they have been recently refurbished and the garden also appeared to be very well kept. The open fire was a huge bonus and the local property maintainer was very accommodating in showing us where to find the firewood amongst other things. The local supermarket and bakery are around 10 minutes drive from the property and if you fancy a day trip I would recommend Aigues-Mortes, a medieval town around 40 minutes drive from the house.

Will definitely be returning!!

Beautiful, serene and clean holiday home.

  • 5 of 5

I had a really lovely time here at this farmhouse last summer with my boyfriend and some friends. The family who runs the house (Lesley and Robin) were really friendly, polite, and were prompt in replying to my questions via email.

Each room was unique, clean, and cosy. The stone walls kept the house nice and cool during our stay. The garden is absolutely enormous and the swimming is absolutely gorgeous! It is exactly what you need to cool off from the summer sun.

We particularly liked the pool house where it can sleep up to 4 people - there is also a games room/bar area conjoined to it so it made it an ideal place to spend the evenings drinking and eating by the pool. The house basically has everything you would need for your stay e.g. fully equipped kitchen, BBQ set, ping pong table, movie area, piano, trampoline and treehouse...

We are definitely thinking of coming again next year :)

A fantastic house for our party of 10 adults and 8 children

  • 5 of 5

This is a lovely place for adults and children alike. The pool was a great hit with all. And we kept discovering new things to do. So many games toys etc for all ages. All the bedrooms have a bathroom and there is plenty of indoor and outdoor dining space for our group of 18.
