Windswept Vistas - Boone NC Log Cabin Rentals
Sitting atop Snaggy Mountain is Windswept Vistas – where each of the four bedrooms has its own deck to enjoy the panoramic views. Located in Boone NC just five minutes from historic downtown and Appalachian State University, it is still less than fifteen miles from both Blowing Rock and Banner Elk as well. Throughout the home, Windswept Vistas displays the quality and planning that most homes aspire to.
As you enter this cabin, you are immediately torn between which to admire first – the wonderful views easily enjoyed through the many large windows, or the forty foot stacked stone fireplace that is the centerpiece of the comfortable living area. The lovely leather and upholstered furniture is both stylish and conducive to relaxing in front of a warm fire or family game night. There is a powder room on this level as well, helping maintain privacy for those staying in the master bedroom.
Off one side of the living area is the dining room, with large table again surrounded by windows to take in the view. Or step outside onto one of the many decks for a large outdoor dining area and around the corner a gas grill with rockers for the “grill master” to relax in while keeping an eye on things. Adjoining the dining area is the large, modern kitchen with quality appliances and ample counter and cabinet space. There are even some cookbooks available to help get you started, and extra seating at the counter.
Across the main level on the other side you will find the master bedroom, with cast-iron king bed and its own private deck with log furniture. As in all the bedrooms, there is a flat screen tv and quality linens. The master bathroom is an escape all its own, with large garden tub and separate tiled walk-in shower with multiple showerheads – just think “relaxation.”
Upstairs you will find two more bedrooms, each with a queen bed, flat screen television, private deck with log furniture and private bath with tiled shower. Separating the two is the loft, with a comfy chair perfect for curling up with a good book, a desk in case anyone brought some homework along, and video game system (currently an XBox Kinect). There are high open ceilings throughout this level as well.
The lower level of this home features a large family room complete with its own kitchen, full bath and the fourth bedroom, again with private deck. Perfect for someone who wants a little extra privacy, the family room has a seating area, table and chairs to accommodate a meal or game of cards, and large flat screen television. The bathroom on this level has a whirlpool tub, or step outside and enjoy the stars from the covered hot tub.
For family fun, this home has a ping pong table in the family room, video games, and on the outdoor patio area there is a firepit area complete with Adirondack seating – perfect for roasting hot dogs, marshmallows, or simply enjoying a crackling wood fire. There is also a large fenced area in back to provide a play area for young children, or a convenient option for your dog.
Windswept Vistas has paved access for all but the last quarter mile - 4wd is necessary during inclement winter weather.
Depending on the home, 4WD, chains or sometimes both may be required when visiting the mountains in winter. Access to this home may not be suitable for vehicles with rear wheel drive, limited ground clearance, or motorcycles even during summer months. We are happy to help you find the home with the access you are most comfortable with, any time of year!

Luxury home with brand new hot tub, patio with outdoor firepit, and fantastic VIEW
What a fabulous house for our families!! We got to enjoy our pups with us, thank you for taking such great care to ensure that other families get to enjoy this area! Downhill biking, hiking, and Grandfather mountain were all a blast. We hope to be back next year.
We rented this place for our family vacation and it was perfect! The house looks like its pictures which was surprising for me and awesome. We are a family of 6 which includes our 2 teenage grandkids. Everyone had their own space and T.V. But we also had family time which included a ping pong tournament every night and marshmallows at the fireplace. The hot tub was also great and another favor feature was we were able to take our dogs and because the backyard was fenced in they were able to run free. Lastly, it is truly tucked away.... Yet convenient to everything. I highly recommend!
Windswept Vistas was absolutely the perfect cabin for our family of 10 celebrating my husband's 60th birthday! It had all the amenities any family could ask for! Each family had their own bedroom, bathroom and balcony! Plus, there's a powder room on the main floor. The kitchen was well appointed! We all had a blast in the game room! (I would only caution renters that the hot tub is a two person one, unless you keep your knees under your chin! Note: We are a very tall family, all women over 5'8" and all men over 6'4".) You won't regret this rental!
This cabin had a great location, not far off the main road, yet secluded. We loved making s'mores in the firepit :) The only thing I would say is, they need to provide more towels. Other than that everything was fabulous. Met friendly neighbors down the road who gave us dry wood for the fire. Very nice place.
Nice cabin with a bathroom for each bedroom. Really liked the location being so close to Downtown Boone. Just a couple of items to note: The basement does have a nice kitchen, however, as with most basements, it was damp and smelled musty. In regard to the bathrooms, our family stayed for a total of 3 nights. Each bathroom was only stocked with 2 towels and 1 washcloth. We had to make a special trip to Walmart to purchase towels and washcloths. We did NOT like that there were RAT TRAPS in several of the rooms! Additionally, upon our arrival, there was what appeared to be dog feces and urine on the back deck. However, please know that the professionals that we dealt with while reserving the cabin were awesome.
The photos on the website don't do Windswept Vistas justice, absolutely beautiful. A wonderful cabin for a large family vacation with your dog; centrally located to sightseeing, hiking, horseback riding, and nice restaurants. Cabin also has a gas log fireplace, wifi, and excellent cell phone reception.
This was a wonderful cabin!! Loved the view and ample room for everyone to enjoy. Very close to all attractions and easy to find. Would stay here again in the future.
