About Katherine Ward
My parents bought this house when they first married and were working for the nascent United Nations in Geneva. They had my oldest brother, Michel, here and then went on to live in many countries and have 4 more children. As we moved from place to place, we would always return to the Pink House, and the house has remained our family home to this day. Today, we all live in different places and visit whenever we can, but want to make this special home and amazing location available for others to enjoy.
Katherine Ward purchased this House in 1949

Great place with verdant atmosphere
I cannot think of a more historic, authentic place to stay if you are planning a trip to the Geneva/Savoy area. It was easy to work with Katherine and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves at her house that has been in her family for many decades. Yvoire is a great place to return to after a busy day touring around and I recommend renting a car unless you plan on using the ferry that is very close bye and will take you to most anywhere you might want to go proximate to Lac Leman (Lake Geneva). The house is nicely appointed and we felt that we had plenty of room for our stay. Thank you very much, Katherine, and I hope we may return again soon!
Very Cool Place
The pink house was clean, charming, and spacious enough for all nine of us without feeling cramped at all. The views from the house are lovely, and Yvoire is an interesting town. Accessing the map Katherine has in the check-in materials is essential for finding the house. And, yes, your car will fit through the gate. Proximity to the lake and ice cream shops is an added bonus.
Great house perfectly situated in wonderful medieval village
We stayed at La Maison Rose in June 2019 without any prior knowledge of Yvoire - we needed a deflex couple of days before leaving on our Geneva fly-back flight to the US after 3 weeks of hard traveling and adventuring in Spain and France. Little did we know what 2 gems these would be!!! The house was great - 3 floors with great views & cross-ventilation and a wonderful period atmosphere (albeit with all modern appliances & conveniences). Yvoire at first seemed like a tourist trap but by the end of the first day we loved it, and Katherine had a great book of places to go to avoid the high tourist prices of Yvoire (eating, grocery shopping, general purchases, activities, etc.). THE LAKE WATER IS PERFECTLY CLEAR right around this incredible medieval gem - you could literally swim right off the shore b/c it was so clean/clear - which we did. Lakewater cold but not as cold as we were expecting for a lake on the Swiss border. The Hosts' agent Genevieve was super-nice and attentive but the hosts' neighbors (from Massachusetts) were the really great aspect...very friendly, welcoming and informative in a genuinely friendly kind of way. No schmaltz, fake hospitality...just cool people. Salut Ariel & Wynne!
We loved the property and location, as everything is within walking distance or by ferry. Historic, clean, and welcoming. We felt at home with access to everything. Excellent experience and we would return to this particular house when vacationing again in Yvoire!
Week end en famille
Nous avons passé quatre belles journées, maison de village rustique au bord du lac avec tout ce que l'on peut avoir besoin.
