About the property

3 bedrooms (2 en suite, 1 separate bathroom), sleeps 4-10, stunning scenery

La Roche nestles in the beautiful countryside of the southern Dordogne, between Bergerac and the tranquil medieval bastide of Eymet. The 1-acre garden contains a 12x6m private pool with diving depth. A further 9 acres belongs to the house, and there are fields beyond. The white stone farmhouse dates from about 1860 and has been sympathetically and tastefully restored to a luxury level, whilst retaining exposed beams and stonework and other traditional features.

Downstairs: Entrance hall with view to upper level; Kitchen with hand-crafted limed oak units, hob, oven, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine; Lounge; 3rd Bedroom; Toilet; Bathroom with corner bath & shower.

Upstairs: Gallery overlooking hall; two Bedrooms with en suite bathrooms, second Lounge.

Garden: Superb views over rolling countryside; Tables & chairs to front & rear of house; BBQ; table tennis; children’s swings.

Travel: Flying: Flybe serve Bergerac (just 10 miles away) from various airports around the UK, including Southampton, Manchester, Exeter and Belfast.

Ryanair serve Bergerac from Stansted.

BA fly to Bordeaux and Toulouse.

There are several car hire companies at Bergerac airport.

Driving: The drive can be done in a day from Calais, Boulogne or the other ports, or you might have a more leisurely start to your holiday with an overnight stop, perhaps on the Loire - we can give you details of places we've stayed in, if you wish. With the recent construction of the A20, the journey is now very easy and virtually toll-free south of Orleans. We'll include full driving instructions with our booking confirmation letter.

Climate: The area has a temperate climate, and usually enjoys relatively mild winters with long spring and autumn seasons. The summers here can be very hot - ideal for sun lovers.

More information: There's lots more information and pictures on our website, Should you wish to discuss your holiday requirements or travel arrangements, or find out more about the house, please ring or email the owners Tim & Jenny (see Contacts page).

About Tim & Jenny Warren

We fell in love with France in the early 1990s, when work brought us to live there for a while. After moving back to the UK, we spent lots of holidays in France with our children ... and then in 2000 we found La Roche, and fell in love with that, too.

What makes this farmhouse unique

You can sit in the garden and see nothing but the open fields and trees that surround the house; it's the most peaceful and relaxing place we know.

And it might sound odd, but one of the things we absolutely love about La Roche is sitting safe and dry under the porch on a warm summer's evening and watching the rain! We know from guests' comments that we're not alone in this....

Guestbook comments from the owner

Lovely, lovely holiday - again - amazing weather, wonderful house etc as ever and looks like great improvements. Made it to Issigeac and Eymet markets, which were v much enjoyed and to Monbazillac where evidence of the Tour de France was still visible (had been in Leeds at start!). Few minor problems with the pool but Gerard extremely helpful - plus bin men NOT doing their job v well!! Can't have asked for more in a holiday - so sad to be going home - if a holiday can be perfect - this one was!!

Fantastic property in the perfect location

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay here for half term week. A really lovely property with everything you could ever need. The location is so quiet and very pretty with the rolling countryside all around. The house, grounds and pool are all perfect. Thank you.

Fantastic location

  • 5 of 5

The house is very comfortable and well equipped. We had a really good time relaxing and using the lovely pool. It is secluded and peaceful but within reach of many pretty villages and towns. The house was well cleaned for our arrival and the new loft conversion is amazing. It's a great area for cycling too. Thank you very much, we hope to return one day.

Great family holiday

  • 5 of 5

We had our first experience of the newly extended and renovated La Roche during the summer and we can only describe our time there as fantastic. The upstairs now has two big en-suite bedrooms (both used with the travel cots provided) and a lounge area which is great for spending the evening (if not around the BBQ). The finish is of very high quality and extremely comfortable, and the outside pool area was enjoyed greatly by the kids. La Roche is private and secluded, but close enough to the local amenities to make a wonderful stay for the whole family.

Can't wait to return again next year!

What can we say that best describes La Roche; private location, beautiful setting and surroundings, peaceful and tranquil, wildlife and yet at the same time all the amenities and restaurants one needs for a perfect family holiday just a short drive away in Eymet. This was our second holiday to La Roche and this time we saw the magnificent renovation the owners have worked so hard to achieve. As we walked through the front door we had no idea of the 'wow' factor when we discovered upstairs. There is also a welcoming family size pool with several sun loungers provided. We can't wait to return next year.

An idyllic holiday home from home

  • 5 of 5

We have visited this property 4 times already and simply love the tranquillity and comfort of the place. The recent renovations are absolutely stunning and seamlessly team traditional and modern decor. The house is always clean and well maintained and it feels like a family home provided with everything you need for a wonderful holiday.

La Roche

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at La Roche for two weeks in July 2010 and had such a wonderful holiday that 4 weeks after our return we have booked to go back next year. We have stayed in many holiday properties in France and other countries, but have never rented one as beautiful, clean, and well-equipped as this. We felt totally at home from the first day, and although there is a lot to see and do in the area, we were loathe to leave the tranquility of the poolside. My husband was delighted to find a fishing lake stocked with huge carp less than 5mins away, in the same village as the bakery and we both enjoyed visiting the vineyards surrounding us. Tim & Jenny were most helpful and we would recommend this property to anyone.
