1,000 square foot, open floor plan chalet with king bed and mountain views
Why David Pivnick chose Pine Bush
I always wanted to live in the mountains having spent all of my life living and working in the New York City metro area. I always enjoyed outdoor activities/sports and started spending more time in the Hudson Valley and Catskill Mountains in the mid 1990's. Finally in 2009 I moved up here while maintaining my business "down country". Everyday I appreciate and enjoy the privacy, space, quite and freedom of living on the Shawangunk Mountain. Being only two hours from Manhattan it affords me the opportunity to continue to experience everything the city and surrounding area has to offer while living in the mountains. It's the best of all worlds!

Lovely quiet retreat
My wife and I love this place for a quiet weekend away. It's a wonderfully appointed space, and very unique. The view is amazing.
Incredible views and location
Overall we loved this property. The location and views are incredible and the space is very well done. We got to see many deer come through just out front of the chalet. We ran into some minor issues with the appliances during our stay (the dishwasher stopped working), wasn’t a big deal for us to hand wash dishes but worth noting for others considering the price tag. Other minor things, kitchen has minimal garbage capacity, we had to buy a normal size garbage bag for the kitchen. The garbage in the bathroom is bigger than the kitchen for context. If you like to cook, there is only a mini fridge but if you’re there for only a few days and you’re not extravagant cookers like us, then it was totally fine. Lastly, if you are traveling with your pup, beware of ticks! We found several on our dog. We hope to go back to visit again in the future and highly recommend.
Lovely quiet retreat
My wife and I have spent two weekends here and love it as a little romantic escape. It is tranquil and the space is comfortable and very tasteful. The view is wonderful.
Lovely place for a romantic getaway
We enjoyed the stay. It was a nice unique place for a weekend getaway.
Great trip! Met every expectation
My wife and I had a great trip. We wanted a calm secluded weekend away and this property did not disappoint. Couldn't have asked for more.
Perfect for a romantic getaway
Cozy, clean, and beautiful place. Even though we wanted to snuggle up by the fireplace the whole time we were there, we also wanted to explore the town a little bit. The town itself doesn't have many attractions, but New Paltz is a short ride away so we spent the day walking around the city, hiking near the Mohonk Preserve, and visiting a couple wineries. Overall a great choice for our anniversary weekend; we highly recommend it!
We are situated in the hamlet of Cragsmoor which was founded as an art colony in 1879. The Cragsmoor Historic District is on the National Register Of Historic Places. Our location on top of the Shawangunk Mountain ridge is situated at the southeastern edge of the Catskill Mountains. By car we are just a few minutes from Sam's Point Preserve offering miles of hiking trails, which connect with the Long Path, with some of the most beautiful and expansive views of the area. All the other sports and activities found in the Catskill Mountains are nearby. For some real adventure there is Hang Gliding just 5 minutes away, sky diving about 30 minutes away and some of the best rock climbing in the U.S. right here on the Shawangunk Mountains.
If your looking for complete privacy and seclusion with an amazing mountain view surrounded by wildlife then you will never have to leave our chalet. However, shopping, restaurants, wineries and all the other leisure activities found in the area are just a short drive away. Up here its the best of all worlds just two hours from New York City.
