Would rent again
Great location-walking distance to restaurants, market, coffee, bars, drug store and train station! Only negative was, I wish both of the window AC's had worked.
Biggest ripoff imaginable!
We arrived from the airport at 5 pm but could not access the condo because the number we were given for the lockbox was wrong. The owner was AWOL eventually sent a contact number allowing us to enter the condo just after 7 pm, tired, hungry, and needing a shower.
The top towel in a pile of 3 was folded well but it was wet and smelly! There was a clothes washer but not laundry detergent. The portable air conditioner made the place hotter than ever, and the police sirens and 5 gunshots in the nearby park resulted in sleep deprivation. On the bright side, the liquor store was close and the streets appeared safe until sundown. In my opinion, VRBO should have nothing to do with this dirty, ripoff property.
Hi Alan, I'm sorry you had troubles accessing the property when you arrived, I provide self check-in instructions and it must have been frustrating not getting access until 7 pm. As for your towels not dried properly, I have spoken to my cleaners so this doesn't happen again and we leave out laundry detergent for our future guests - thank you for your feedback. As for the air-conditioner, I went to the unit after I received your review to see what was the issue with the a/c. I noticed that the setting was set to fan mode and the room temperature was 24 degrees Celsius which I agree is very warm, however when I changed it from fan to A/C I set the temperature to 16 degrees Celsius and it cooled down condo very nicely. As for your comments about gunshots in the park, I live here and I'm sure the sounds you heard were fire crackers, we are in a urban setting and I hear them in lots of other cities as well. I've inspected my property thoroughly because of your comments about being a dirty and a rip off unfounded, we have many guests stay and I get excellent reviews. I went so far to video my property and I brought in other hosts in the building for their feedback and they were shocked with your comments about being dirty and a ripoff.
I wish you would had called me during your stay and I would have done what I could to make your experience a pleasant one. I implore any guest that is having an issue during their stay to contact me directly so I can rectify the problem if there is one.
All the best.
Beware Of This Property, Know Before You Book
This was the worst property we have stayed in. In all the places I have stayed in, I have never left a bad review on a place until now, but this place needs to be addressed.
It's a small apartment with no central air, this apartment faces the sun all day and gets very hot, you have no view in the daytime, because you have to close the blinds and leave a noisy portable air conditioner on all day and all night to try to stay comfortable, and even with it running it's still warm. This feeds through a window in the bedroom, so all day and night you get a the noise from outside.
There is a huge problem with the area with drug user in the park next to the building and all around the area, for sure not safe to walk anywhere, so watch your safty, the police actually told us it wasn't a safe area as they were arresting someone outside the building, and they suggested to drive to another area for dinner.
This apartment is on the 3rd floor over a daycare and in the day, you hear crying and screaming children, and at night you hear people yelling at each other until 4 AM, as it turns into a night place for druggies in the park next to the daycare.
The apartment had been surface cleaned, but not really clean, I didn't even want to shower there. There was no extras provided, like coffee ect. We left sugar, tea ect. for the next people.
The beautiful picture you see in the ad with the nice patio with the fireplace is a total sham, I really wish I could attach pictures of what it really looks like. I was actually looking forward to enjoying that outside spot when I seen this ad, that was one of the reason why I booked this place. The fireplace table is still there but in pieces with 4 propane tanks and a bunch of old umbrellas and garbage, and that nice couch you see in the picture is actually full of black mould from being outside. The view from the small balcony is of the daycare, a dirty building, and the druggies in the park.
This building is a key fob entry system but because of this apartment being on the third floor where the pool is, everyone has access to the third floor, and noise can be heard in the halls. It's unfortunate that we had a bad experience there, but hopefully we have given someone else the heads up.
Hi Lori, i'm sorry you had a really bad experience staying in my property. I have stayed in many short-term rentals and have had many good & bad experiences as well. Comparably to my bad experiences i'm shocked to receive your review. I pride myself on my guest experience, I wish you would have contacted as I would have addressed your concerns immediately.
My property is a 1 bed, 1 bath, your comment about being small is subjective. As for the patio, we pressure washed everything recently. The fire table is a 2 piece (the cover and table), we provide extra propane tanks just in case the propane runs out.
Your comment not having central A/C, this is true we do not have central A/C however, only 5% of buildings Vancouver have it so portable A/C's are the only option. My property faces East, so you get morning/mid day sun, however units facing South or S/W gets really hot during the summer. I understand portable A/C's are noiser, but its a better alternative than just a fan.
As for the homelessness, Vancouver has many challenges, as does other large cities in North America e.g. New York, LA, San Francisco and Seattle, I empathize with them, they're in an unfortunate position, I'm sure they do not want to be homeless, but how do large cities resolve these issue? You stayed in the summer, yes some people may sleep in the park (which is not allowed), if you contacted me during your stay I could have called the authorities to have them removed.
My apartment is on the 3rd floor & faces the park and the elementary school beside it, yes can hear crying and screaming children, but you can also hear laughter as well. Most people visiting Vancouver are not in the property during the day, they are usually sight seeing so it hasn't been an issue with my guests. The school is not open during the weekends and downtown's have a hum to it (and that may have people yelling here and there at night). The 3rd floor is where the amenities are located which my guests like that there is a pool, hot-tub & gym only open till 11 pm.
I lived here since 2007, never had any problems, my 13 year old nephew & 16 year old niece live across the street do do all their activities in the area - school, eat, play and don't have any concerns about safety. I appreciate your feedback, it seemed like everything was compounding for you so you maybe you we're only focusing on the negatives as there are many positives as well. All the best!
My family and I recently stayed at this apartment for a few days and it was a great experience for us. The place was very clean and well equipped. The check in experience wasn’t perfect but Branden was there 100% to help out. If I had to say anything negative about it I would have to say it was much smaller than the pictures make it seem. As for the surrounding area it was just okay. There were many homeless (which is fine, I get it) but it made the area seem dirty. My wife and I witnessed several drug transactions in the park across the way and dirty needle drop boxes throughout the park. Those things definitely subtracted from the Vancouver experience but not enough to ruin our visit. All in all it was a nice experience.
Enjoyed the condo. Super close to Canucks games. Host handled everything despite problem with VRBO calendar.
Great location and amenities!
This rental was perfect for our recent visit to Vancouver. The condo was centrally located, close to transportation, had a great park view, and was a great landing spot for us between outings. The garage parking and pool, sauna, and workout room were a plus. The rental process was thorough and easy. Great alternative to a hotel!
All the amenities (swimming pool, hot tub, sauna, gym) are on the same floor as the condo - very convenient!
