About David Pippenger
Casa Soledad is owned by a partnership of 2 couples. (1) Richard and Lindsay; Richard is a contractor and Lindsay is an artist. (2) David and Joy; David is an artist(he makes commercials) and Joy is an Organic Farmer. In the picture Lindsay is on the left, then Joy, then David. Richard is on the right. We all feel that the chance to spend time at Casa Soledad is a dream come true.
David Pippenger purchased this House in 2007
Why David Pippenger chose Zacualpan
Casa Soledad is about 60 miles north of the Puerto Vallarta airport in the small fishing village of Platanitos. We like it because it is not yet overrun with tourists but is close enough to a major hub so that transportation is not a problem. It is a 3 hr. flight from Denver. An $8 Taxi ride takes you to the Bus Station. A $15 Bus ride gets you to Las Varas, and another $20 Taxi takes you to the front door. It is accessible seclusion in an unbelievably beautiful location. Literally within walking distance to undisturbed beaches. Fresh fish right off the boat is available from the Restaurants at the Beach. You won't believe the thrill of watching dolphins and whales splashing offshore.
What makes this House unique
We now have Gen 5 satellite internet. It's not rocket speed, but it's the best available in rural Mexico. You will be able to check email and surf the net... albeit with a bit more of a delay than you are probably used to. Platanitos Beach and the Restaurants are a short 5 minute walk. A bus runs hourly to nearby Towns and Villages for shopping if needed. The 'Corner Store' Abborotes Gonzalez, is 100 yds. away. Platanitos Beach is safe and a favorite of the local population as a family area. The people are exceptionally friendly. And then there is the sound of the constantly pounding surf for the deepest sleep you have ever experienced.

Just returned from a wonderful trip to Casa Soledad. The house was perfect for two couples. The view is simply beyond words! For anyone looking for an out of the way destination, this home will not disappoint. The pool is solar heated and perfect for my early morning dips.
Safe. Comfortable. Clean.
Stayed here Christmas 2015. Loves it. Just as pictured. We took advantage of the cook and she was great. A totally peaceful destination. A couple of neighbors are close by and they are quiet and very personable. There is a small motel nearby and the occupants were also quiet and respectful.
Casa Soledad Trip
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Casa! The house is spectacular, the town charming and the people beyond hospitable. What a delightQ Can't wait to to return to Mexico!
Quiet beach and stunning views
We had vacationed in Sayulita and San Pancho before, and were looking for the best of both: A quiet town with a good swimming beach for kids. In Platanitos, the waves are gentle and the water is warm, with rarely more than a couple of other families on the beach. The beach-side restaurants had beers, snacks and lunches. But the bugs were bad in the evening (mid-March, following some unseasonal rains), so the restaurants all closed at sunset. The casa's pool was the real hit, and there was plenty of space for two families with three kids.
Platanitos Feb 2015 trip.
We stayed at Casa Soledad in early February 2015. It was heavenly. We have 2 small children, ages 11 and 7 and they absolutely fell in love with the place. The pool was the perfect size for them and being so close to the beach they took advantage of that also. We went to one of the palapa restaurants on the beach below and spent most of the day there just eating and playing in the ocean. The owner of the restaurant was really nice and asked us several times how we were doing and if we needed anything. The seafood is fresh out of the sea, a few hours old and WONDERFUL. Platanitos is a friendly little beach town and a nice change from the large touristy Puerto Vallarta area. Casa Soledad is very comfortable and makes you feel like you are in paradise. It has many special touches that make it feel like home. The décor is OUTSTANDING and it is a beautiful place to stay. There is an outdoor eating area that overlooks the pool and really makes for a nice area where multiple activities can go on at the same time but the family can all be together still. The kids can be playing in the pool while my wife and I enjoy a margarita or cerveza overlooking the ocean, yet still keeping a close eye on the kids. My wife and I would watch the sunset every night and that was a perfect romantic ending to a perfect day.
The staff at Casa Soledad are very friendly and attentive. Everyday upon returning from our travels everything was clean and put away and ready to be used again. We didn’t have to give anything a second thought, just be there in the warm Mexican air and enjoy our vacation together. Everything was taken care of and all our needs were met without even asking. I highly recommend Casa Soledad to anyone thinking of visiting Mexico if you want a great vacation and a view that can’t be beat. We hope to return VERY soon.
We are delighted you had a wonderful time at Casa Soledad are we are looking forward to you visiting again.
Terrific Location for Family Getaway
Our family experienced a wonderful stay at Casa Soledad. We knew that Platanitos Beach is one of the preferred beaches by locals, so we decided enjoy all the best that Mexico has to offer. The ocean view at Casa Soledad is breathtakingly beautiful. There are magnificent local sights within walking distance including a clean, safe beach, and wonderful restaurant choices. The Casa Soledad location was perfect for our young family members and we had several bedroom options to suit everyone’s needs. Casa Soledad not only provides a private infinity pool and free parking, but is strategically located within close walk distance to restaurants, local stores, and the beach.
