About Monica E Jones
My husband, Marcos and I, bought this house 18 years ago. It's been amazing to watch the city grow and evolve. We've done a tremendous amount of work on the house and property to make it homey and beautiful for both ourselves and our guests to enjoy. We are foodies and support local and sustainable food growers, chefs, and sellers. I've lived in Seattle for 35 years. I've seen this city change from a small quiet city to the metropolis it is now. So, if there are any questions you have, don't hesitate to ask. We are professionals who work mostly out of our home but we also have a home in Costa Rica which is also listed for rent. We love to travel and host folks from all around the world. We discovered the rent your home community a few years ago and fell in love! We have hosted & met so many amazing people through this community - We are always excited for our next guest or trip!
Monica E Jones purchased this Apartment in 2001
Why Monica E Jones chose Central District
We bought our home because it was centrally located to everything in Seattle, yet away from the noise and hub-bub of the main city centers. We love to walk to the lake, enjoy a swim in the summer or just walk to our little quaint Madrona "downtown". This too has grown with great food options and really lovely boutique shopping. Madrona is very family friendly and welcoming. We encourage you to enjoy the neighborhood as we have through all these years.
What makes this Apartment unique
We love our home for many reasons. It has fantastic views of Mount Rainier and the Cascades mountains in general. It sits abovet the sidewalk making it more quiet and a little secluded from the busi-ness of having a house on street level. It is truly a lovely home in the heart of residential Madrona.
We stayed for a couple of nights prior to our cruise and Monica was a delightful host! Street parking was a little iffy but going back I would have left the car as we just Ubered everywhere!! The place is small but plenty of room for my husband and I and we loved it!!
Monica went above and beyond in assisting us with our stay prior during and after check out !
Thanks for your kind review Donna! It was a pleasure hosting you and your son:) . All the best!
Horrible experience my wife and I where finally able to take a trip with each other without are kids and if you would like to rent a place with a Stocker you must rent here. When you inside the room the owner is in the same house you just have a room and it’s not private it’s just a door paper thin and you can hear there conversations like if there in the room with you. Beautiful place but absolutely no privacy.
I am really sorry that you and Ashley had a bad experience. I really value my guests and do everything possible to make their stay and vacation a joy. I tried very hard to please you and Ashley. I understand you were quite unhappy when I asked you to respect the no smoking pot on property, no loud noise after 11PM(especially during work days) rule. I tried to be helpful by suggesting places where it would be appropriate for you and Ashley to go smoke and party but you continued to disregard my request. This not only affects me but also my neighbors as I kindly explained to you.
Easy location and great property owner
Location couldn’t be beat. Small but very good kitchen. Monica is an attentive host. I can recommend this place for sure.
Thanks Renee and Dave! It was a pleasure hosting you. I hope to see you again when you come to Seattle:)
Charming and comfortable
Very much enjoyed my short stay (2 nights) to visit my son.
Location is great in quiet residential neighborhood.
Loved all the lovely landscaped plants, trees and flowers.
Very comfortable with almost everything needed.
Heater worked quickly and well though a little loud.
Comfortable bed. Fully stocked kitchen.
Bathroom equipped with wonderfully scented soap and lotion.
Whole apartment smelled quite nice.
And Monica very friendly, helpful and accommodating.
I would suggest a small toaster and or microwave or perhaps small toaster oven.
Space is great for one, pretty cozy for two .
A comfy chair would be nice in bedroom if it could fit somehow.
Very nicely decorated but I'd secure the two small slippery rugs and maybe provide a dark rubber mat for shoes.
Close parking not always available though not too far.
But overall a very charming place and comfortable stay.
It was a pleasure hosting you Nancy! Thank you for your wonderful compliments and useful suggestions. We've considered some of those changes as well. Time to think on them again:) Hope to see you again when you come back to visit your son!
Cozy and convenient to everything
The place is comfortable, warm and nicely decorated. We had a rental car, and basically everything we wanted to do in Seattle and the surrounding area was under 30 minutes away. There are lots of good restaurants in walking distance.
This apartment also has a full size stove, refrigerator, pots, pans, etc., so if you're looking to do any cooking to save on food for a long stay, it's all set for that. The bed is really comfortable too.
Thank you for your kind and detailed review Abe! It was a pleasure to host you and Alex! You both were wonderful guests. I'm so glad you were able to rest after finishing your studies! My goal is to take the best care of my guests and make sure they leave happy, rested and with memories to share. I hope to host you again next time you are in Seattle:)
Despite its close proximity to busier neighborhoods like Capitol Hill, Central District and downtown, Madrona is an oasis of quiet and comfort. Its business district is small but classy, with both fine and casual dining, coffee shops, boutique shopping and home to Molly Moon's ice cream. The homes here are absolutely stunning making it an interesting and pleasurable walk.
Named after the native trees that covered the hillside, Madrona was the perfect place to settle for early Seattleites. One of the first attractions was Madrona Park, a lakeside swimming, boating, walking and picnicking dreamland. Madrona is the place to be if you want to stay in a beautiful, quiet neighborhood yet still be within a stone’s throw of downtown. Wholesome family events are easy to find; movie nights, cultural parades, outdoor concerts, dining groups, and wine tasting to name a few. This is a true community, with everyone working together to make it the best place to be.
There are some beautiful parks in Madrona. Windy, tree-lined roads make their way from the top of the hill down to Lake Washington, and hidden trails and staircases make the route easy for pedestrians. Madrona Park itself has a swimming area, picnic shelters, lots of grass and trees, and a reclaimed wetland area. The trail that follows Lake Washington Blvd is very popular for runners and bikers. The business district takes up about four blocks on 34th Avenue and Union Street. It may be small, but the establishments here seem to have been hand-picked to fit in with the neighborhood. Upscale shopping options include Hitchcock, Driftwood Consignment, and Glassybaby’s famous hand-blown glass votives.
For food, try the Hi Spot Café for brunch, Café Soleil for traditional Ethiopian cuisine and fantastic breakfast, Vendemmia for fine dining of Pacific Northwest cuisine, Turquez for traditional Turkish food, Bottlehouse for a cheese and wine. And after dinner walk over to Molly Moon's for yummy ice cream. If you would like to buy a nice bottle of wine, try Madrona Wine shop or Bottlehouse then you can go to Madrona park and sit outside for awhile. Check out madronaseattle.com for more information.
For coffee, we recommend heading 10 minutes(walking) 5 minutes(drive) south to Broadcast coffee, on S. Jackson St. Then, step next door for the best BBQ in Seattle or try Reckless for great Vietnamese and cool drinks.
Frankly, Madrona is situated so perfectly no matter what you want to eat, see or do it is close by.
To the East is the Central District Seattle (5-10 minute walk). It doesn’t have a big business district of its own, but it borders Capitol Hill, First Hill, and the Madison Valley, all of which are hopping with activity. There is great coffee to be had at Tougo on 19th Ave.
This central community is very proud of its diversity; a festival is held yearly to strengthen community connections. Organizations, like the Central District Forum for Arts and Ideas, devote their time to promoting the arts and culture of the African American community.
Further East is downtown Seattle (8-10 minute Uber ride). Skyscrapers overlook Elliott Bay in Seattle’s compact Downtown. Shoppers buy local crafts and produce in vibrant Pike Place Market, with its eclectic restaurants and food stalls, or hit big-name stores like Nordstrom. The busy Central Waterfront has a giant Ferris wheel and the Seattle Aquarium, while cultural attractions in the wider area include the Seattle Art Museum and the 1928 Paramount Theatre. Don't forget to go to the Pike Place market where our favorite hot chocolate maker is, Indi Chocolate.
Honestly, Madrona is so perfectly located no matter what you are doing in Seattle, staying in Madrona provides a safe, quiet and homey neighborhood from which to explore the city.
