Holidays for the family

  • 5 of 5

Great place in the middle of nature.

We had a very pleasant stay in a property very well maintained, completed for all the family with or without children

A special distinction is to be attributed to Monia and Gilberto for their kindness and their availability.

Lovely and quiet

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely fortnight in Molazana. This house is lovely and well equipped. The weather wasn't brilliant and we had a few rainy days but the rest of our holiday was fine. It was lovely to be able to walk and buy bread from the local bakery. A tip though - get there early as the bread can sell out. The house was clean and well maintained. Our only slight disappointment was when it was rainy in the evening there wasn't really much room inside to sit but you'd hope the weather would be lovely. I would recommend this house to everyone and the pool was great and we had many hours swimming. As we've visited this area many times we went to our favourite places including Barga and Sienna. I would also recommend the many food festivals that take place during the summer - including a Mexican festival in Molzana with live music.

Amazing location and views.

  • 5 of 5

The property itself was pretty basic, however the outdoor living space more than made up for it. The weather was beautiful for the most part and we enjoyed living al fresco. The views were absolutely stunning and the owners, Gilberto and his lovely wife were most accommodating and very friendly. If you are looking to get away from it all and enjoy outdoor living then I would highly recommend Il Colletto.

Very nice home in a beautiful mountain setting

  • 5 of 5

Price/quality this is the best holiday home that i ever rented (we rented it for the second time)

The property is very clean and well maitained by the owners. Every two days they come to clean the pool and water the plants. They do this early in the morning to respect your privacy at the property.

The owners are always at your service. They are very friendly and really do their best to give you a nice stay.

The views at the property are stunning. If you like a quiet and peacefull holiday this is the place to be.

Tranquil, relaxing setting, amazing views.

  • 5 of 5

Our family and my parents loved our stay here. The bedrooms were as described- comfy beds , plenty of room , the bathrooms were fine - small but perfectly adequate .The kitchens are basic ( the fridges are a good size)but that adds to the charm. The house was very clean and well maintained.

We cooked on the BBQ every night - soaking up the surroundings - including the hourly church bell. There are plenty of sitting areas in the shade or around the pool which our children hardly got out of! It really is a lovely place to spend time at,and handy for exploring the area. The local bakery does great bread, and Molazzano has a good grocery shop with a bar.

You can't help but relax and enjoy Tuscany !

Superb base for family or group in awesome setting

  • 5 of 5

We chose this place mainly for its reasonable price, we had some concerns before we arrived but were so blown away by the beauty of the setting they all vanished! We are from England so this was a 2 week break for us to make the most of the area.

The listing undersells the property which was clean/tidy and well maintained. During our stay there was a leaky pipe which was making a wall wet but not a nuisance - the owner didn't want to disrupt our stay so fixed it after we left :)

During the first week the temperature ranged from 20-34 night/day and the pool was wonderful, the second week cooled down a lot 15-25 degrees and the pool was too cold to enjoy but we were cramming in visits to towns and cities then so it was fine. My 7yr old could just touch the bottom on tiptoes for an idea of water depth.

There is a supermarket in nearby Gallicano; E.Leclerc I think which is very handy but expensive to English standards (I would compare it to Waitrose or Booths).

All towels were provided and washed midweek, you have to take the bins to nearby Molazanna except for the last day when the owners did that.

Italians live a different lifestyle to us so we found them working outside at 6-7am onwards but then quiet mid-day. The windows are to be shut in the day to keep heat out so any noise was easy to block out. The place was very private - not overlooked and with drive gates too.

The owners were very friendly and helpful, 1 spoke broken English but easy to understand and her friend spoke good English who checked that we were OK.

At some point we will definitely return here and would recommend the property to other friends.

We flew in to Pisa which is an ok ish airport, hire cars were easy to get (go with Firefly if you want cheapest and smallest queues but bashed up Italian looking cars!), drive from here to the place was 1.1/2 hrs, on Google maps you want to type in Agriturismo Le Scope for the exact location.

If you stay for 2 weeks here follows a list of MUSTS: Walk to Molazanna, day trip to Lucca, drive to Wind Caves, mountain walking following routes from the guide, Florence on the train from Lucca and Castlenuevo - but avoid market days - its too busy and a little tatty.

P.S the plug sockets are the smaller diameter 16A type. We had mosquito repellent plug-ins but didn't need them; there were no nasty flying things at all.

Don't forget your swimming goggles, nose plugs, flip flops, walking gear and binoculars.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review! We are very glad you enjoyed your stay! It is a shame that we had unseasonal weather for week two (we had the worst Spring for 300 yrs!) but we are pleased that you managed to use this time to enjoy this stunning area and that the heat in week one allowed you to fully relax in the garden and pool.

Nearest Restaurant
2 Kilometres
Al fresco dining and sometimes music
Car: necessary

The property is situated in a very tiny hamlet just a 10 minute walk or so from the village of Molazzana, which is a pretty mediaeval village, with a bar and basic shop and the most stunning views over the countryside.

For days out, Lucca is a 50 minute drive away, the mediaeval town of Barga 15 minutes, the market town of Castelnuovo 15 minutes, Pisa 1 hr 10 mins, Florence 1 hr 45 mins, and the Wind Caves 25 mins….

There are of course countless hilltop villages to explore….
