YOU WILL LOVE this 2 bed 1900 cottage in a quiet mews off the high street
Come and stay in this beautifully refurbished period terraced house, moments from the town centre and the sailing marinas. The photo's don't do justice to this lovely house. The comfortable and contemporary property is over 3 floors, completely refurbished with an open plan ground floor, contemporary bathroom with shower and a small, private, decked garden and dedicated parking.
There are 2 bedrooms, the first with a double bed and the second with single bunk beds plus another single bed, therefore sleeping five with comfort. (It is possible to sleep a 6th person, either a baby in the travel cot, or using a comfortable futon mattress which can be provided at an additional charge). The kitchen is well equipped and the bathroom luxurious. An open plan ground floor means you can all be together for meal times and relaxing in the evening. The courtyard garden has a table and chairs and room to barbeque. It is private and gets the sun in the afternoon. WIFI AVAILABLE.
The House: You will love this period terraced house, built in 1900 probably for workers in the boat building trade. It has been beautifully refurbished and is completely contemporary but retains period charm.
The kitchen is new and has washing machine, dishwasher, fridge freezer, gas hob and electric oven. The open plan kitchen/dining/sitting area has a table with chairs for four (plus two stools to seat 6), and a comfortable seating area. We also have a Mothercare travel cot available.
The bathroom is also new, contemporary and a good size with a shower over the bath and heated towel rail.
The ground floor is laminate flooring (we would appreciate shoes being taken off when you come in to preserve the lovely floor!) and it is carpeted on the other two floors.
The house has gas central heating for cosy off season holidays. The garden is small but private and sunny. It has a table and chairs to enable alfresco eating.
THE TOWN - Cowes is a dear little town, full of shops, restaurants, bars and cafes. A lot of it is pedestrianised so makes for a pleasant stroll. The sailing marinas are really close and are obviously very busy in the summer. Out of season it is quieter of course but Cowes makes a good base to explore the island, walking, cycling, in the car or bus. There is a pleasant, level walk along the seafront from Cowes to Gurnard which takes just over half an hour. Gurnard is a much smaller sailing centre with a pub, cafe and children's play area. Car and bicycle hire are available in Cowes.
Many of the bars, restaurants, cafes have views over the water.
There are several Italian and Indian restaurants as well as some more traditional English outlets. All the pubs serve good food too. There are two fish and chip shops and several tea rooms.
Places to visit: Rosemary Vineyard (Ryde), Alverstone Walk - Easy access ramble (near Sandown), Brading Roman Villa (Brading), Superbowl (Ryde), Dinosaur Interactive Museum (Sandown), Isle of Wight Zoo (Sandown), Steam Railway (Ryde), Owl and Monkey Haven (Newport), Shared Earth Fair Trade Retailer (New Church).
THE ISLE OF WIGHT: There is so much to do on the Isle of Wight. There are water sports of all sorts all around 60 miles of coastline. Coves, sandy bays, beaches for families, surfers, sailors and sunbathers.
Lots of family activities, including tennis, golf, parascending, walking, fishing, windsurfing and picnicing as well as all the tourist attractions, ie. Blackgang Chine, Robin Hill ,Osborne House, Dinosaur Isle, Botanic Gardens, model village, steam railway. The I W tourist website is crammed with ideas.
For a quiet holiday the walks along the coast and inland are wonderful with bridle paths all over the island. After which you can stop off at a pub or cafe for lunch. Inland there are farms to visit including the now famous garlic farm! There are 6 golf courses, including one in Cowes, plus horse riding, cycling, walking, crabbing and rock pooling for the activist and cafes, pubs, restaurants, for the more sedentary!
The best surfing beaches are Compton Bay, Freshwater, Niton and Shanklin

About Miss susan picano
We are a family that loves the Isle of Wight. We live in London but feel like we have come home when we step off the Red Jet and into lovely Cowes. My grandchildren love it here.
Miss susan picano purchased this House in 2009
Why Miss susan picano chose Cowes
Cowes has a great buzz but is still restful and easy to be in. Full of great shops, cafes and restaurants but with a small town feel. Cowes has its own vibe, unlike anywhere else on the island. So convenient for travel around the Island, for walking, cycling, bus or car. The house is comfortable, light, contemporary, central, convenient and altogether delightful. What else could we want?
What makes this House unique
We love this period property which still has some old world charm but is completely contemporary and convenient. The house has a black and white theme and is simple and clean. The little garden is private and big enough to sit and have breakfast in, take in some sun in the afternoon or enjoy a barbeque in the evening. Although in a quiet mews, we are (literally) less than a minute from Cowes centre.

Very close to all amenities
The delightful town of Cowes is, of course, most famous for its sailing events and races; Cowes Week being the most well known. The town has cafes, restaurants, pubs, shops within minutes. 9 hole golf course in Cowes. Sainsbury's and M&S food store moments away. Lovely gift and clothes shops. Walk along the sea front, watch the boats then take the level walk along the sea front to Gurnard for lunch. The town centre is pedestrianised for a pleasant and safe stroll. Try the new artisan bakers where you help yourself to breakfast. Red Jet hi speed passenger service 2 minutes away & the chain link ferry, linking Cowes with the Red Funnel Steamer a short drive. Access to the island can also be made via the ferry from Portsmouth to Fishbourne or Lymington to Yarmouth. Newport, the main town is a 10 minute drive away with buses every 10 minutes. Free WiFi. Local Bicycle & Car hire. Beaches aplenty and walks for all energy levels then home to this lovely period house. Golf: There are 8 GOLF COURSES on the Island, including one in Cowes. A lovely opportunity to get away for a few days' golf! As well as the one in Cowes they are located in: East Cowes (in the grounds of Osborne House, beautiful setting), Newport, Ryde, Sandown, Ventnor, Westridge and Freshwater Bay. Some of the golf courses are in parts of outstanding natural beauty.
