About Valancy Harlow
Steve is a Chartered Financial Consultant and Valancy is a dental hygienist and a certified group exercise / water fitness instructor. Steve is a native Mainer and Valancy grew up in New Brunswick, Canada. We have one son, who is a recent college graduate in Civil Engineering. Our son has played hockey since age 4 so these are our first winters not spent living at the rink! Valancy and our yellow lab, Samson, have become quite the team on the dog agility competition circuit. You may see Samson practicing his jumps off the dock. We love skiing and we love the lake!
Why Valancy Harlow chose Waterboro
Steve stumbled across the property while teaching in the local school district back in 1980. It's location on the deepest end of the lake and the level/gentle sloping lot with 173' of direct lakefront made it too good to pass up. He used his summer time off to build out the large garage into an in-law guest house, which allowed his parents to move into it when they retired in 1985. While constantly updating the property every year, it now bears little resemblance to the large chalet camp of 1980. After moving to Saco in 2006, we decided to share Grand View 14 as a rental property unlike any other you will find in the area.
What makes this House unique
Being a grandfathered property, we are lucky to have our home located only 50 feet from the water, with a gentle slope on the lakeside with a flat grass play area inside the circular drive on the street side. We also love the serenity of all the hidden coves on the Lake. The perfect start to a day is to paddle around in the kayaks watching the sunrise.

We loved our vacation, the cabin was perfect for us. Steve and Valancy were perfect and had everything we needed. If we had a question they were just a text away. I definitely want to go back again, I miss it already!
The property was as advertised. The hosts were pleasant and informative. The house was clean and comfortable. The rooms were sizable and the kitchen was efficiently designed, and stocked with all the basic pots, pans, dishware, etc.
The yard was nicely landscaped and the dock and 2 decks provided appealing outdoor seating areas. The lake water was very clean. Our only disappointment was the property beach was tiny and extended only about 10' out into the lake. After that, the bottom became very soft and weedy and not suitable for swimming. However, we were able to enjoy the association pool just down the street. The home provided a pleasant getaway. It was fun exploring the local back roads of Maine.
Amazing vacation spot
My wife, 3-year-old son and I spent a week here last August and absolutely loved it. The main house is great- plenty of room. And the waterfront area had everything! Our son spent most of the week wading in the shallow beach area. The lake was nice and peaceful and a great spot for kayaking. Steve and Valancy were very helpful - friendly and quick to respond to any questions
Memorizing Lake View and beautiful home!
What an exciting week. We brought a huge storm of wind and rain with us but we made rainbows out of the storm, thanks to Valancy and Steve Harlow. We made awesome memories and will definitely be back. The property had everything to make the perfect vacation. Owners were beyond attentive to our every need. Thanks so much to the Harlow's.
We arrived at 14 Grandview on September 9th, 2017 for a week stay. It was just as pictured online. Beautiful place. The owner really did his homework on setting it up for entertainment. Had a bumper pool table and air hockey table right inside of the cottage. There were many board games, two TV's, stereo with a turntable, many albums to listen to, books to read, two gas fireplaces (one in the master BR), two full baths, laundry, full kitchen with all the amenities, dishwasher, microwave, stove, dishes, pots, pans, utensils of all sorts, assortment of spices, coffee maker with coffee and filters, toaster, multiple kayaks, canoe, peddle boats, camp fireplace, wood for camp fires, gas/charcoal BBQ grill, you name it the owner really tricked the place out!! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone that is looking for a nice quiet and fun place. Don't even have to leave the cottage for entertainment. I can't say enough about it. Awesome place and really nice owner. Thanks for a wonderful stay!!!
We had a wonderful stay! This place has everything you need for a lakefront vacation! Pedal boat, kayaks, row boat, fire pit, grill, sandboxes, swings, fishing poles, water toys, flotation vests of all sizes! Incredibly gracious and accommodating hosts. If traveling with toddler aged kids, just be prepared to watch them vigilantly. There is a large area of the center of living room floor set down about 6-8 inches with brick border, glass coffee table and our two year old made pretty easy work of opening the deadbolt and handle on the door to the backyard/lake. We would book again in a heartbeat though!
2018 weeks are booking quickly. Don't miss out on your chance to enjoy a RELAXING vacation week on the water's edge!
One of Southern Maine's nicest lakes, Lake Arrowhead is known for its world class bass fishing. The Department of Fisheries and Wildlife has recently named Lake Arrowhead as the only Trophy Base Lake in Maine and it regularly plays host to some of the areas biggest bass fishing championships. In fact, NESN and ESPN's Emmy award winning Charlie Moore, aka, 'The Mad Fisherman', can occasionally be seen filming his show on our waters. Watch for his bright orange boats! It is an 1100 acre lake, ideally located between Portland, Maine and North Conway, New Hampshire. It is known for its crystal-clear water, perfect for swimming and boating. It is full of coves, islands and inlets which make for some nice exploring with canoes or kayaks.
