About Bruce Paoli
Aloha. My Name is Rowan. My mother and father, Bruce & Nikki, fell in love with this very special piece of paradise. It is a unique Hawaiin style home on a very peaceful private 1 acre lot in the town of Captain Cook.
Bruce Paoli purchased this House in 2004
Why Bruce Paoli chose Captain Cook
We vacationed for may years on the Big Island, staying on all parts of the island. We fell in love with the Captain Cook area because of its proximity to everything, the local culture, the coastal access and all the town has to offer.
What makes this House unique
Captain Cook is a great location for your family vacation. We are close to many beautiful coastal destinations, great shopping, restaurants and a perfect location to explore all that the Big Island has to offer. You are in a great location for day trips and close to Kailua Kona. We have some of the best snokeling, kayaking and surfing spots on the Island.

Knock-Out Views of the Ocean!
We enjoyed our stay in this great house and wish we could have stayed longer. The house is surrounded by beautiful flowers that make the whole place smell wonderful. At night, you are serenaded to sleep by exotic-sounding tree frogs. And the view is the greatest!
The owner provided us with a list of nearby restaurants which was very helpful. We went to just about all of them. Also, there is a good grocery store nearby, and you are a short distance from good snorkeling spots, sports fishing, and the airport.
The house was clean and well-maintained.
I would definitely stay here again.
Incredible two week stay with gorgeous ocean view!
Staying at Bruce's vacation rental at Captain Cook was the most unique, relaxing and true experience living amongst locals. The house, wrap around balcony and view is as gorgeous as described. We loved the large and open family area where our party of 8 could gather. Property is lush with lots of wildlife and so the occasional gecko or bug is to be expected.
This was our third visit to the Big Island but there were great treasures we probably would have missed had we not stayed in Captain Cook. Closest beaches were about 15-20 minutes away (Hookena, Two Step, Magic Sands). We loved the Place of Refuge (17 min), Kula Kai Caverns (45 min south - highly recommended), Kona Coffee Living Farm Museum (3 min), Randy's Huli Chicken open BBQ (10 min) and the Pure Kona Green Markets on Sundays (2 min). We also caught a show at the Aloha Theatre not far away.
Bruce was a great pleasure to communicate with. Both before and during the trip - thank you!! It was a trip of a lifetime and we would definitely stay again. Mahalo!
Unique accommodations for extended family of 9
This pole house was a unique accommodation for our 3 generations of family. The wrap around decks on 2 floors gave awesome views of Kealakekua Bay. The sunsets were spectacular. Since the big island requires driving to everything, this was a good location to get to the Volcano but still be accessible to beaches, kayaking and snorkeling. The kitchen was well equipped. The kids loved the geckos around the house. The nighttime chirping was reminiscent of cottaging in Haliburton, Ontario in the summer.
Great property in a great area! Our host was generous and friendly. Only one problem is that the VRBO address link was a wild goose chase. We loved it.
What a special Christmas!
Our family of seven spent Christmas week here. The house was immaculate when we arrived.(and I'm pretty picky about cleanliness) The jungle setting, beautiful sunsets, darling geckos, peaceful neighborhood and ALL THOSE WINDOWS! were just some of our favorite things about the house. Would definitely recommend and would love to come back some time!
My family of six loved this unique property! The view is stunning and the location was perfect. We loved the geckos and coqui frogs. Thank you for a memorable vacation!
Kayak across beautiful Kealakekua Bay to Captain Cooks Monument for unbelievable snorkeling.
