About Deborah Kimball Robinson
We are a husband and wife team that have had a vacation rental home in the mountains of Montana for 8 years and now have purchased our dream vacation home on the Big Island. When we first visited the Big Island and stayed at Casa Tortuga, we fell in love with the home. We bought it 2 months later. We now live in the best of two worlds. We live part time in a small tourist town near Yellowstone National Park, Livingston, Montana. We enjoy biking, fly fishing and hiking. We have two sons. One who lives in Berkeley and works in the music/film industry. The second son owns Monarch Glass Studio in Kansas City and is a glass blower. We thank you for considering a stay in our home and we think you will love your experience as much as we did the first time! It truly is a one-of-a-kind vacation house.

Why Deborah Kimball Robinson chose Keaau
We bought this property because it is located just 40 feet from the ocean. The sounds and smells of the Pacific are amazing! Wake up to spinner dolphins on their morning run by the lanai (about 7am), see the moon light hit the waves in the evening and fall asleep each night to the roar of the ocean -just can not be matched. No matter what the hour, the design of the house allows you to feel like you are outside even when sitting inside. With ceiling to floor sliders on all 3 sides, open the doors and welcome to Hawaii!
What makes this House unique
On The Ocean! We are new owners but we have read reviews from past guests and the neighbors have reported that this home is located on a whale migratory route. One guest wrote that the whales were swimming so close to the house that he "could almost hear them breathe". Likewise, guests have reported seeing resident green turtles in the rocks below the house and dolphins from the lanai.

We've just returned from a trip to the Big Island. We were fortunate to spend 10 nights at this incredible property. The entrance to the home is a veritable tropical garden! The style of the house is quite unique and the interior design and décor is beautiful. And then, there is the VIEW - absolutely stunning! The house sits directly on the ocean, perched just above 20 foot lava cliffs. The large lanai is awesome and affords a private and unobstructed view of the ocean and the waves dramatically crashing against the shore. We loved sitting out here! One day we even had a "Nene Fly-by" and watched two Nene land at a neighboring home!
This is a true sanctuary, away from the traffic and congestion of Hilo. ( We actually shopped more in Pahoa just to avoid the Hilo traffic!) This home is truly incomparable and we will always have special memories of our stay. We thank Deb and Bill Robinson for sharing their incredible home with us!

A true GEM!!!
This house is everything as advertised and more! A true gem and I am so glad we were able to stay there. The sound of the surf hitting the cliff was fantastic. The house reminds me of a Frank Lloyd Wright design - so airy , vaulted ceilings, lots of glass - truly remarkalbe - wish it was mine!!
Beautiful property and home!
We found ourselves mesmerized by the sea!
When we planned our trip we had so many things we wanted to see.
However, the atmosphere at that house really changed our approach. We still did our sight seeing, but we really tuned into the pace of the sea and star watching at night from the beautiful patio. Mahalo!
Beautiful and quiet location, felt like a local! Cute town close by
Lovely home with all the perks ! Amazing view, loved the sound of the waves crashing , would definitely recommend it , had to travel a bit to do some of the ocean activities, but loved coming back to our home base!
Truly a piece of paradise at Hawaiian Paradise Park!
From the moment when we arrived (and I fell down the stairs in my hurry to get back to the car to unload it and head out to the lanai...) to the moment we said goodbye -- this location was nothing short of fabulous! Perfect location for a couple. The kitchen with the new stove and a fridge just like home, were great. We loved having the gas grill. No reason to eat dinner anyplace else other than on the lanai! We had much better weather than we expected for Hilo (but were told by locals that the weather is better at Paradise Park). Sure, some rain, but mostly amazing weather. It was a great location to go out and explore the east side of the island -- did a couple of volcano trips -- highly recommend the bike ride out to the lava flow and hiking the crater floor and great Thai food in Pahoa. We loved the openness of the home, the air flow, the bathroom with shower doors that open to the outside. The attention to detail -- beautiful artwork, fresh flowers -- all added to the incredible ambience of the home. We look forward to our return. Mahalo!
Is this heaven?, well it aint Iowa...
I don't want to say too much, if we do we'll never get to stay here again, only because the house will never have an open date in the future. The pictures don't lie, the house was great. If you are the type of person that wants to eat out every meal then this isn't the place you want to stay. If you want to enjoy a very nicely supplied kitchen, enjoy a million dollar view, feel totally secluded and just relax, look no further. It was as if the owners had sent us a "wish list" for things to make our stay comfortable and left nothing undone. My own Mother never treated me so well! You are so close to the water that you can feel the spray and the view. (If the water were any closer we would have needed a boat).
My Wife thought it was the best little romantic getaway and would love to come back if her gentleman friend can get the time off work.
To find an issue with the house, was only that the cable did not get ESPN so I could watch the Little League World Series, but issue easily resolved with the high speed wi-fi & my iPad. I didn't want to watch TV as much as as just look at the water (did I remember to mention the million dollar view). We only left the house to take the helicopter over the volcano and just wished we had skipped that (time wasted).
My philosophy is that God only gives you so many meals, don't waste them, and stop looking at price and look at value. Well, this house did not disappoint. We have been to Hawaii a few times and this by far was the best money spent, without question.
So now our only hope to come back to this house after this review is that a future guest will hire me a houseboy and my Wife as the cook...There sure won't be many open dates now.
Oh yeah, did I mention the view....
