The Castle is one of Washington DC's finest properties in Central Washington DC
About Anand Devadas
Anand and Lisa are Super Hosts, who have turned their enthusiasm for travel to their love of hosting. Anand is a native born Washingtonian, who grew up in the area, helping his father in his photography studio near The White House. As White House photojournalists, Anand covered events from Presidents Ford, Carter and Reagan. He is currently an established real estate broker and patron of "striving new artists". Lisa Marie is a native of the farmlands of Upstate New York. She is currently an established interior artistic in the Washington Metro Area. Some of her achievements have been projects at The Ritz Carrolton, The Kimpton Hotel and numerous restaurants and retail locations. Together the two of us have combined our talents, resources and visions to create one of Washington's most talked about venues.
Anand Devadas purchased this House in 2009
Why Anand Devadas chose West End
Anand grew up in the area working for his father's photo studio in the 1970's. As photojournalists covering The White House circuit, before the days of digital photography, his father and he spent many long hours, days and years working in the area. He has lived and worked in Foggy Bottom during the days when every building was a magnificent historic Brownstone. As one of the last preserved historic Gothic Victorian Buildings in the area, Lisa and he have made it their quest to preserve this 100 year old historic building and to bring it back to its grandeur and luxury.
What makes this House unique
This gorgeous property has hosted a number of illustrious and controversial residents for the last 100 years. After developers began destroying history by demolishing these amazing Brownstone properties, the city finally stopped the carnage in 1971 by naming this block as an historic site. This home has been home for politicians, doctors, businesses, GW University fraternities, world travelers and as a World War II safe house, just to name a few of the residents. It is our honor to be next in line to be part of this historic phase in the life of The Castle In Foggy Bottom.

To sum up this is one of the absolute best VRBOs that we have stayed at.
1. Prior to arrival Anand was able to answer every question we had
2. The check in process was fantastic. We were met on arrival and given a full tour of the property making sure that we had no issues. The fridge was stocked with EVERYTHING we might need for breakfast the next day. Every possible need was discussed. We were told that after 630 on Friday evening street parking right in front of the house was allowed all weekend. We arrived at 400 so Anand helped us to find parking for the 2 hours until we could bring the car back to a parking space right in front of the house.
The house is so well located that we never needed to move the car. We were a two minute walk to the metro and just a couple of blocks from a Trader Joes and a Whole Foods. The space was luxurious comfortable and clean. There is an outdoor patio with a fire pit chairs and table and a gas grill. Anand checked in with us throughout the weekend to make sure all was going well. To sum up a truly amazing experience
It was a real pleasure to host Michael and Yael’s young group of enthusiastic travelers. They were perfect in every way! A trip away from home with a family or large group can be tough. We try our best to make sure that each of our valued guests spend more time site seeing and less time running around to get prepared. Convenience, comfort and communication are always at the heart of our service. A completely satisfied traveler, who leaves our home with wonderful lasting memories, is our greatest reward.
High quality in every way! The property, amenities, location, and owners are all superb! One of our best Thanksgiving holidays ever!
Patrick’s family were wonderful guests in every way! It is an honor when families travel from all parts of the world and choose to stay with us during Thanksgiving and the holidays. If we can help to create lasting memories, we know that we have succeeded in our goals.
Spacious, beautifully decorated and welcoming property in a great location. Very nice neighborhood near restaurants and within walking distance to many museums, monuments etc. Hosts were very attentive and helpful in getting us oriented to the property.
Two families of four converged on this property to celebrate (Canadian) Thanksgiving. The property is precisely as represented and its features include a centre ice location that provides easy and convenient access to the attractions along the Mall or the tony shops and sights of Georgetown proper. The home is well-provisioned including ample water and snacks in addition to generous breakfast provisions that sustained us well beyond the first day. We enjoyed visiting on the back porch around the fire pit. Anand welcomed us to the property and provided a pithy yet erudite overview of the home's features. Anand and Lisa were most accommodating and are top notch hosts. You will not be disappointed if you choose this property for your next DC getaway!
We had a party of six, including two of our grandkids, and our stay was perfect! Anand and Lisa were so welcoming and responsive to every question we had. If there was a rating above "superhost" they should have it! The location could not have been better, and the property was unique and delightful. It will be our go-to stay whenever we are in DC!!
We are so humbled when our guests leave our home with great memories. It was a privilege to have hosted Suzanne’s wonderful family on their trip to Washington DC. We look forward to meeting them in the near future!
Wonderful and highly recommend
Perfect location, warm and responsive hosts, every possible amenity and easy to follow instructions.
Looking forward to our next visit.
Linda’s family were excellent guests. It’s always a wonderful feeling when our valued guests leave our home with good impressions and lasting memories.

Rock Creek Park is also a must see for hikers who want to get away from the hustle of one of the most vibrant cities in the world.
If you are visiting with the kids, a must see is the world famous Washington National Zoo. This favorite attraction is located on 163 acres along Rock Creek Park. To get there you can take the Metro Rail to the Cleveland Park or Woodley Park Metro stops. Buses also regularly drop you off next to the main entrance. You can also drive there, but be prepared to find parking spaces, especially during the peak season.

Did we mention Washington DC for sports? Yes, you can have your choice from two baseball teams, The Washington Nationals and The Baltimore Orioles. Take in a game at Nationals Park or drive to Baltimore for the day to Camden Yards. Whether you are a Washington Redskins or a Baltimore Ravens fan, your hardest decision will be which team to root for. Don't forget to go to Chinatown to watch the Washington Wizard at the Capital One Center. AND, let's not forget The Washington Capitols-the 2018 Stanley Cup winners!
if you are feeling lucky and want to gamble away some time and money, the new MGM Casino at nearby National Harbor should definitely be on your radar. The enormous complex houses dozens of amazing restaurants and clubs. If you drive by car, the drive is only 27 minutes away (11.5 miles) during the non-rush hours or the weekend.
The only problem that you may have during your visit to The Washington DC Metropolitan area is that you only have one life to see all of the many sites and special attractions. Yet, whether you are a world traveler or visiting the city for business, The Castle is your most convenient location, offering the best in comfort, amenities and hospitality!
Welcome to our city!
